Publisher's summary

With 22 million of her books in print, and 12 consecutive New York Times best-sellers to her credit, Amanda Quick is a phenomenally popular author of historical romances. With This Ring, set in Regency England, sends a beautiful, headstrong woman on a perilous quest for the Forbidden Rings of Aphrodite. To recover her family’s meager fortunes, Beatrice Poole must locate the antiquities stolen from her favorite uncle shortly before his highly suspicious death. Since the Forbidden Rings have a legendary history of magic and mystery, the resourceful Beatrice heads for one man who can help her find them: the darkly handsome Earl, the “Mad Monk” of Monkcrest. Fans around the world are drawn to the dashing heroes and passionate adventures in Amanda Quick’s novels, but it is her sparkling humor and lively wit that keep them coming back for more. Typical Amanda Quick.

If you have read one, you have read them all. But if you like them, this is a good one. At first I wasn't sure that I liked Barbara Rosenblat reading, but I got use to her and enjoyed the story, rating sould be 3.5. The mystery is very obvious but fun. It always cracks me up that Amanda/Jayne has a lot of her characters be novelist in her stories. Overall a fun and quick getaway.

Fun story

This story has humor, mystery and romance. Mrs Poole and the Mad Monk of Monkcrest come together to search for ancient rings. Other sinister characters are also after the rings. Barbara Rosenblatt does a great job with the different voices. I thoroughly enjoyed both reading and listening to this story

I liked the leading couple

This book was not typical in the sense that the hero & heroine were more mature. I liked that! Particularly the sarcastic humor related to being the doddering ages of 39 and 29 respectively. Additionally, the hero had some lovable characteristics (any man who talks to his dog is OK with me :-) and the heroine was not a simpering miss. As always Quick infuses humor which I enjoy. And the intrigue kept me going. I thought I guessed the ending a few times but the twists and turns threw me off enough to make me keep listening. It was worth my credit.

Very lovable MC’s, sufficiently interesting suspense plot, great and funny dialogue and I loved the narration. This is only my second read by this author but I will be trying more.

Very Enjoyable

Since Barbara Rosenblat, one of my favorite narrators was narrating the book, Leo and Beatrice reminded me of Amelia Peabody and Radcliffe Emerson (Crocodile on the Sandbank, etc.).

I really enjoy listening to this book and getting a good chuckle of how Leo and Beatrice interacted with each other. It is also one of my favorite books by Amanda Quick.
