Goodreads Author of the Year Nominee

She's about to walk on the wild side....

While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within 30 seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent—and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes—and he'll do anything to win her back.

Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?

Not as exciting

Fabulous writing and narrating. Just not as much much of adventure. But, still loved it. and we'll worth the credit/money.

Wild man – Kristen Ashley

⏰ I read this book several years ago and recognized it after a few hours. As I continued to listen my thoughts began to wander… I kept it on but I was not at all invested in the story. I could not tell you anything beyond the main plot and even that would get confusing.

After my last Kristen Ashley listen I said it was going to be my last because of the length (24 hours.) This book was about half as long but very busy and I could not stay focused. I think I have several more Kristen Ashley books in my library to listen to and I believe I picked one up during the last sale – a few months ago. I'm a sucker for a deal and two-for-one credit, especially with a lengthy book seems like a good deal. I think that I will take a break from her.

The narration was better than average.

Strong language and mature themes suitable for adults only.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope it was helpful. If you found it to be so, would you please take a moment and select – yes – below? Thank you. Please consider following me on Audible. Read, vote and share with other audiobook listeners.

Great story, not a fan of the narrator

Loved the Hero! Swoon worthy! Couldn’t stand the narrator. She reads as though everything was supposed to be funny.. like she was smiling the whole book. Doesn’t really even attempt at a male voice.. my eyes rolled so much I have a migraine. I would have read the book if I hadn’t already spent the money on the audio. I won’t listen to the others.. as for the author.. so many repetitions of words and phrases got annoying.. I’m sure much how to do with how the narrator read them.. but still got old fast. Could have shaved a ton off the book without all the unnecessary details of some things.. I understand backstories and details.. but a bit overboard on some of it..

The Narration ruined it for me

I will start by saying that this is one of my top 3 reads of Kristen Ashley's, The story is awesome and emotional and all the characters are so relatable. With that being said, this narrator was awful. Each character sounded like they were from New Jersey and not Colorado. EVERY ONE OF THEM. Brock did not sound like a badass at all, it wasn't believable, and when it's mentioned that one of the characters were whispering, the narrator didn't even take her voice down a notch. I felt like it was one tone all the way through. She destroyed Elvira completely as well. A definite disappointment.

It’s ok

I’m disappointed in this book as it doesn’t seem to be up to Kristen’s normal work. It’s cute it’s fine opposed to my normal reviews of her book which would be its hit the characters are awesome the main male is hit the woman is awesome. Tess is cute, Slim is boring & I kept waiting for him to betray Tess I never truly bought into him but this will NOT stop me from buying more of the authors books as one out of 15 being a 3 star is nothing!

My top 10 KA book

Overall, the narrator did well. I didn’t care for the New York accent on certain characters. It was sorta weird considering they live in Colorado.

An Author to Follow....

I enjoyed Wild Man..it went in a different direction than I thought it was going. Mystery Man is still my fav due to the balance between the characters, the action+suspense....Wild Man was a good book but from the manner "Skull" behaved in Mystery Man...this book was mainly dialog...yes there was some tension and lives were in danger with her previous husband. It was worth the credit and I wouldn't miss it. I just didn't find it memorable. This is a really good author and narrator. I will look for them both in the future.

Very Good Story But Too Much Profanity

Wild Man by Kristen Ashley is actually a very good story that held my attention throughout. A strong complaint though is the severe usage of profanity. Perhaps this SUBSTANTIAL practice is supposed to be indicative of inhabitants of “the hood," where the story takes place; but I found it to be off-putting and disturbing to the detriment of the listening enjoyment. I am not opposed to colorful language when it is used to carry forth a story, however, the constant bombardment of f-bombs, I believe, damaged the quality of this author’s work, and therefore, limited the target audience and as a result, book sales.
Brock and Tessa are quality characters, despite their apparent lack of vocabulary. Not your typical hero, and first lady of romance. I liked them. The fact that Brock isn’t wealthy or a loner is refreshing. He is a strong; take charge kind of guy, all about family; dealing with all sorts of family trauma with solid and resilient family ties always in tact. Tessa is a beautiful and compassionate sweetheart. She is a peacemaker with little family left. Together, they are pretty adorable, with the exception, of course of their language. My rating would have been higher had it not been for this objection. While I liked the characters and story, I would be embarrassed to recommend.

Definately Unexpected

I bought this book with trepidation after I'd read some reviews. This book is not packed full of adventure compared to the other books but it worked for me. The chemistry between Brock and Tess fit and after I got past the initial understanding this wasn't close to her other books I enjoyed the book for what it was. It's not my favorite from this author but I laughed often and enjoyed this easy listen.

Annoying in 2 ways

Annoying part #1: It turns out that listening to a couple call each other Baby in Audiobook format is just as annoying as listening to it in person.

Annoying part #2: This is the second Kristen Ashley book I've listened to and the cussing is incessant. I mean, there's just so much of it especially the F bomb. I'm not opposed to cursing because it is part of normal conversation but in moderation. There is so much that I want to give it 1 star just for that but I restrained myself to 3 stars. I'm taking in to consideration that I may just be naive to it or sheltered from it by living in the south. This language may be common place to others who will no be as annoyed by it as I am.

(As I'm writing this I just heard Brock say to Tess while describing his first love as 'the first to go down on him, the first to take his cock.' Seriously? Do people use such blunt descriptions when describing an old love to their new love? I guess I just don't like Brock as much as I liked Hawk.)
