Publisher's summary

He's a hotshot firefighter addicted to risk. She's the sultry beauty he never saw coming....

Maya Jackson doesn't sleep with strangers. Until the night grief sent her to the nearest bar and into the arms of the most explosive lover she's ever had. Six months later, the dedicated arson investigator is coming face-to-face with him again. Gorgeous, grinning Logan Cain. Her biggest mistake. Now her number one suspect in a string of deadly wildfires.

Risking his life on a daily basis is what gets Logan up in the morning. As the leader of the elite Tahoe Pines Hotshot Crew, he won't back down from a blaze - or from beautiful, lethal Maya Jackson. She may have seduced him with her tears and her passion, but it'll be a cold day in hell before Logan lets down his guard again. But when Maya's life is threatened, his natural-born-hero instincts kick in, and Logan vows to protect the woman sworn to bring him down. And as desire reignites, nothing - not the killer fire nor the killer hot on their trail - can douse the flames.

THERE'S SPARKS, FLAMES & A SMOKIN' HOT ROMANCE

Gripping start to a brand new series centred around the sexy rugged (and, of course, handsome) elite Firemen called Hotshots.

This explosive story has forest fires, murder, intense suspense, thrills, passion and sex as the H/H try to find out who the arsonist is that is responsible for all the fires and deaths that are slowly mounting up - and, from one being a suspect, they soon both become the number one targets. There are a mixture of characters some of whom are thrown in as suspects to keep you guessing and eliminating just who the likely person is (I didn't guess right).

My only very slight grievance was the romance between the H/H was hot yes, and it just happened from day 1 as the sparks of their sexual chemistry led to an instant passionate inferno but, because there was no embers to the romance, by day 3 I felt a little bit robbed of the usual enticing delicious build-up towards the inevitable 'combustion' (but that's just me wanting it all I guess) and it didn't detract from the main exciting story.

It also gives you a good insight into the actual work, experiences and pressures these Teams have when they fight these fierce wildfires - their lives can so easily be lost but their skilled efforts make all the difference.

Worth a credit? Yes a good entertaining romance/thriller, even if there were a few 'as if's' in the storyline and I'm looking forward to book 2 Hot As Sin (Sam's story) and all the others in the series, after all there are 20 hunky red bloodied Firefighters in each Team.

Wild Heat & Sparks equals a hot sultry romance

Bella Andre, has done it again. This one is a hit with me. This story starts out smoking hot and I don't mean the heat from the fires. This story also develops into somewhat of a surprise for me. I expected a great romance, but what I did not expect was suspense or a crazy killer on the loose. I could not put this one down.

Maya Jackson is the female lead who is immediately attracted to the hot sexy Logan Cain. These two have a brief encounter and six months later, they meet again and sparks really start to fly. It was really fun seeing the physical attraction between Maya and Logan turn into to something deeper. I am about the listen to this one again, it’s that good!

2.5 Stars Repetative and Unbelievable

Maybe my standards are too high but I have mixed feelings about this book. I was bored and annoyed by the first 2 1/2 hours as the heroine consistently (and repetitively) questioned her belief in the hero due to her attraction to him. Once she came to the conclusion that he was trust worthy, albeit a strange revelation without a believable cause, the book finally started to get a bit interesting.

Also, Logan and Maya were conversing about who could be starting these fires while they were fleeing a fire! Not just any fire, but Logan’s home that he built with his hands. His “oh well” attitude and their talking about an investigation while they are trapped within a wall of fire made me say to myself… doesn’t the writer know that people in the middle of a fire aren’t trying to figure out who the culprit is? They just want to survive! And then there was Maya’s investigation; flimsy evidence against Logan? How about no evidence against Logan; it felt like that was the only way to introduce tension for these two lovebirds, yet that missed the boat because Logan was like, “It’s okay if you ruin my career, just so long as I can follow you around while you tell the world I did something I didn’t do just to prove that our brief little sexual interlude six months ago does not stop you from being a professional.” Sorry, but female investigators are much more competent than this.

Eva Kaminsky was good with the delivery of story and the only reason I finished the book.

Flamed out fast

Well it has a very interesting start. I’m thinking “Wow” this is going to be good. A little later into the book my mind starts to wander. That’s not a good sign for me. A few more hours and I’ve already rewound this book three times to try to catch up from where I’ve lost track due to boredom.

Now we get to the last 2 ½ hours of the book and they get back into the sexual situations of the book. I wish I could say this is better, but the almost sex at the beginning of the book is hotter. I will admit the one good thing is I do not know who the arsonist is, but at this point who cares? I’d much rather sit through a steamy, hot, BDSM, predictable who-done-it than this.

This is a big NO. In my opinion this is not worth my credit. It is not worth buying it on sale. I just feel like I’ve wasted my credit and my time (and I did double the narration later in the book to try to get through it!!).

Boring...Predictable...Wasted Credit....

Would you try another book from Bella Andre and/or Eva Kaminsky?

Probably not....

What could Bella Andre have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The premise for the book was good - however, the writing came across as amateurish. The main character was whiny and unprofessional. Constantly putting herself in the path of danger - I intensely dislike "too stupid to live" characters. Her motivations for these "too stupid to live moments" were very unbelievable and....stupid.

Did Eva Kaminsky do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Well enough.

What character would you cut from Wild Heat?

I've already forgotten their names...that boring....

WOW!!

Love this story! A thrilling and sizzling read! I would like to note that the author brings factual knowledge about wild-land fires, and doesn't just put words in that sound good, (as you so often see on TV, BLAH!) being a wild land firefighter myself I appreciate it! The plot is thick and juicy and executed amazingly!! More please?!

Hot steamy story with zinger suspense

I wasn't prepared for the surprise whodunit Bella Andre whipped up this tale. I was thinking it would be another awesome romance and I guess I forgot she's good at weaving a complex mystery-suspense while she's at it. I really didn't see it coming.
If you are looking for an engrossing read with characters you're really gonna like, this is your book. If you're into firefighter heros, you'll like all the insider info on the hotshots who are like the SEALs of firefighting.
Mystery and romance done right.

Fire Fire Fire - Please send Logan to save me!!

Any additional comments?

This book worked for me on several levels. First I like when an author gives me a strong heroine in a book and Maya was strong. I liked that she was strong enough in her beliefs that she didn't back down but when she realized she made a mistake she admitted it and did everything she could to fix it.

We also get a confident, slightly cocky alpha hero that I just dare you not to fall for. Logan Cain was all kinds of sexy and protective and who doesn't want a man like that :) Even knowing he is under suspicion for arson his first thought it to protect the people in his life before himself.

And last we get a BAT-SHIT crazy villain. Now I am not going to tell you who that is because that would be wrong but I will tell you that I didn't not know for sure who it was until almost the very end.

The story line is fast paced an incredibly suspenseful, not to mention HOT and I am not just talking about the fires! make sure you have plenty of time once you start this book because you won't want to put it down....

Hot New Series & I No Knowledge of Firefighting!!

Which scene was your favorite?

Bella Andre... I really like the Sullivan series (so far) and the Take Me series wasn't a strong start. So I was excited to start this series, hoping for the best. This is the first book in the Hot Shots: Men of Fire series.

This is a fiery hot romance with enough angst to keep me interested without becoming frustrated.

Maya Jackson loses her dad and her brother who are both hotshot firefighters. While cleaning out her brothers home she becomes overwhelmed and hooks up with the local bartender. The story picks up six months later when she shows up to investigate a fire. Yes, she is a fire investigator.

The story takes off as they try to deal with the tryst, as it complicates things. Neither seems to be interested in the other. One decides to give it a try, the other isn't interested. Then the other decides to give it a chance and the other resists. There is story enough to keep the reader engaged and there is a lot of 'mature action' spread throughout the book that the story doesn't drag.

The ending is a bit crazy and juvenile, I'll leave it at that. I will be starting the next book as soon as I file this.

Notes: Mature themes some strong language

Credit worthy/$: Yes on both accounts. These are pretty reasonably priced and a lot of Bella Andre books are often offered in sales on Audible. I would wait and save my credit.

WTH?

Any additional comments?

How could this narrator get so many 4 and 5 stars? She totally sucks? I'm only at 20% and I'm done listening. Good grief, Logan sounds just like Maya. I know there's sex in this book and I also know that when it does happen it will sound like two women. This is not a book about two women it's about a man and a woman. Obviously, others don't mind this type of narration but I do. If you can't even try to sound a little manly then you shouldn't be a narrator. Sorry!
