Publisher's summary

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless - and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost…until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation - or her ultimate damnation?

Lords of the Underworld fans will enjoy!

Let me start by saying Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors. Her books are funny, romantic and full of steamy hot characters. I've rarely been disappointed by any of her books. So reviews are mostly biased on my part. That being said, this book sort of fell in the middle for me. Was it her best story? No. Did I enjoy listening? Yes. Was it a waste of my credit? Definitely not.
If you are new to Gena Showalter I would suggest starting with "The Darkest Kiss". You will not be disappointed. If you love the Lords of the Underworld then I would highly suggest getting this book.
I was really looking forward to Zacharel's story (as he was in previous books). I really loved his character from the start and was excited to see how love would melt his cold heart and redeem him. However, the story was just sort of so-so.
I did enjoy the appearance of the Lords and as always I loved the narration by Max Bellmore. For these 2 reasons alone I am giving this a 4 star rating. Otherwise it would just be a 3.
I hope the series gets a little better.

TICKED ALL MY BOXES !!!

Great start to a new GS series that gives you those tormented brooding angels that we see in LOTU coupled with some of the juicy Lords themselves for a little while. This is Zacharel and Annabelle's tempestuous unfolding love story that has all the classic Showalter ingredients like passion, great characters, an intricate amusing and enjoyable plot coupled with the tall dark, handsome and feathered angels - mmmm you just can't go wrong.

Thought the narrator was ok but I listened on double speed because I couldn't wait, well that and there's just so many delicious books waiting to be heard and such little time.

Worth a credit? If you're a GS fan then you already know the answer - it's a big fat YES and I'm waiting for more please.

Great Story! So much Action!!!!

What a great story... there was so much demon action and fight it kind of took me by surprise... I really really liked it. I wish there was a bit more smexing though... I mean this is a Showalter book... where was the romancing... there as a lot of angst... just wanting Winged Wonder and Murder Girl to hook up.. The end was pretty amazing if I have to so myself... and since this is my review... I do... and I did.. Great ending... I can't wait to listen to book two.

I was really surprised by Annibell's personality. She was a great and thought out character. Very strong...not weak at all. Most heroine show some sign of weakness... but Annibell had weakness, she was possessed by demons in a way...but she was soooo strong for the heroine is was actually quiet refreshing... Winged Wonder (the Angel) was a good character too, but I felt he whined a bit too much about the love of his brother... but it all made sense in the end...

Great credit...

Wicked Angels, mmmm…

This is a spin-off of the Lord of the Underworlds and should be read after The Darkest Seduction. Start with The Darkest Night if you haven't read Lord of the Underworlds yet. And if you are a fan of LOTU then this is a must read. New characters are added and there sounds like there will be lots more books to come. I better watch out that a demon does not possess me, because it sounds so easy, and I don't have a sexy angel looking out for my back. Narrator was great as usual.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!

As an admitted paranormal romance SuperFan Wicked Night is definitely going down as one of my faves of the year! I can't say enough good things about this story. You will adore the characters and be instantly intrigued right from the start---so worth a credit and your time, because this was almost a one sitting listen for me!

I bought this after falling in love with all things Gena Showalter/Lords of the Underworld, but then I took forever to listen. Well, shame on me for keeping myself from this beautiful tale! This was about love, faith, sacrifice, forgiveness, and so much more. It was almost like being in Sunday school (angels, deities, and demons, etc.), but every once in awhile sneaking off to indulge in a few carnal pleasures. Although I totally get into a super hot sex scene, and expected as much in this one, instead this book kind of smoldered throughout, and it was steamy without being overtly sexual. Also, Max Bellmore...what a fantastic narrator, he really brings this story to life, his narration truly nails the emotion, tenderness and fierceness of all the characters. Get this book!

less than expected

Not as hot as the cover or any of the LOTU books. The story was good as were the the plot twists, but it just didn't have the flow I am used to in her books. The best part of this book was the relationship developments of Z & the warrior angels in his command. I will definately read the next book as Gena did leave me curious & wanting to know thier stories. In short even when she is a little off her game, GS rules.

Great story so so narration

I have listened to almost all of Gena Showalter's books and really like the quirks and sense of fun some of them have. This story has some of those same qualities with cameos by the Lords of the Underworld yum.. I found the pacing of the narration to be s l o w like the reader was bored or needed a cup of coffee maybe a double shot of espresso. I liked the plot and the characters just wish it really had been Max Bellmore. This was not a great pairing. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose I call this one a draw. If you need a book to listen to this one isn't bad, just don't expect Phil Gigante or Robert Petkoff.

Wicked Nights

Would you listen to Wicked Nights again? Why?

A great start to a new series, it was good to read about a softer/loveable side of Zacharel. I look forward to reading Koldo's story. Though I will say I still like the LoU series better so far, and yes I enjoyed the reappearance of some of the Lords. I was disappointed though that Max Bellmore was listed as the narrator when in fact he was not the narrator.

What other book might you compare Wicked Nights to and why?

The Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter

What about Max Bellmore’s performance did you like?

Max Bellmore was not the narrator though he should have been, this should be corrected.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

I prefer The Lords Of The Underworld.

Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors, and this book is a spin-off of the Lords of the Underworld series, but it doesn't have the same feel and the story didn't measure up at all. It doesn't have Gena's usual humor, which I think makes her books. The narator is the same narator that reads the Lords of the Underworld series, but I think this book may have been better with another narator, because it makes you want the same feel as the lords of the Underworld, and you never really get it. It somehow falls flat. The story just isn't that captivating. I wasn't impressed .

Awesome Book

This book is the start of another great series from Gena Showalter. The characters have depth and the story is interesting. I could not stop listening and the ending was a total surprise. I can't wait for the next book in the series! I love that she had some of the characters from the Lords of the Underworld series appear in the book (this book is a spin-off from that series). Max Bellmore is an excellent narrator who also read the Lords of the Underworld series, and the voice he uses for each character is consistent from book to book. Overall, a great book.
