Publisher's summary

Vic Savian knows what he wants when he sees it. And what he wants is his sexy neighbor, Niall Chandler. When he finds her in the hallway of their building being harassed by an aggressive suitor, Vic steps in - and finds himself greatly rewarded....

Sleeping with her gorgeous neighbor - when she didn't even know his last name - was the craziest thing Niall's ever done. Now, she can't seem to get enough of Vic, or what he stirs in her. Suddenly she's exploring uninhibited pleasures she's never known before. But when her past returns to haunt her, she and Vic are forced to venture beyond the pleasures of the flesh, and risk it all on something deeper, something found only in the heart.

I liiked it

Lots of Sex. It even had a good story to go along with the sex The ending was abrupt and I had several questions that did not get answered. The characters were likable. If your considering buying the book, you need to know, the sex scenes are explicit.. This is not your mothers romance book. I did not use a credit to purchase this book, but I did take advantage of the great Whisper synch program offered by Amazon and Audible. .

Good read Excellent descriptive detail

I just wish the ending had not been so abrupt. The anticipation and build up were fun but it sort of fizzled at the end.

Great story; passionate romance

I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy well-developed characters, a suspenseful drama and passionate romance.

The narrator is great.

SPOILERS

Only two criticisms:

1. I was disappointed there wasn't an epilogue or two. I always feel a bit cheated when the book ends immediately after the sentence where the couple finally get together for good. There were set-ups wasted, such as: Niall becoming pregnant from the night they got back together; and Donny being taken in by Vic, his father figure, and Niall, his mentor. Does Donny ever become an artist, and/or have a successful comic book, and/or meet Stan Lee because of his comic book? What was Vic writing? Was his next play about their relationship? Did the actress Niall felt intimidated by end up playing the character inspired by Niall? How does that backstage convo go? Do Niall's parents ever get their comeuppance? Etc. Or is it just me?

2. It appears the author used "19th century" to describe the 1900s (i.e. The 20th century). The author writes that the heroine is curating an art show of modern and contemporary artists of the 19th century, e.g. Nakamura. There were no contemporary artists until the 20th century, and Nakamura's most famous works were done in the 1950s.

Narrator totally ruined it.

Could not finish. Let be very sexy stuff but this narrator ruined. I have no idea why f I could have made it through with another narrator. I will say this books gets the award for the fastest fuck ever with no words spent to even set up attraction. Don’t waste your credit.

Hated It

Would you try another book from Beth Kery and/or Shirl Rae?

Yes, I would try another book by Beth Kery. According to other reviewers, she's a good author.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm not sure. I have to do some browsing and read other reviews before I decide.

What about Shirl Rae’s performance did you like?

She was pretty good at changing the different character's voices and remaining consistent with them throughout the story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Wicked Burn?

About 80% of the sex scenes. It was too much for this book to be listed under "romance".

Any additional comments?

If I wanted to listen to erotica, I would have chosen that genre. And even if there was a tiny bit of romance, storyline, or plot to this story I might not have disliked it so much. But when all was said and done...What was the point? This story left me so unfulfilled. I like finishing a story and the characters stay in my heart/mind for awhile. These characters disappeared like they were never in my life for 10 LONG hours. And I couldn't be happier.
