Publisher's summary

The all-new KGI novel by New York Times best-selling author Maya Banks.

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business. Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background. Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the U.S. government can't…

Eden is said to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her face has graced countless magazines and her body has sold millions of dollars of clothing. But her fame and beauty has earned her more than she ever imagined. Evil is stalking her, determined to extinguish the ethereal beauty forever.

Swanson or "Swanny" as his teammates call him is always up for the next mission. He came back from Afghanistan wounded and scarred. Hardly the kind of man who even belongs in the same room with Eden. And yet there's something about the quiet beauty that stirs his blood and makes him dream of the impossible. Because Beauty loving the Beast only happens in fairy tales and KGI doesn't deal in fairy tales. Ever.

Great story

An amazing strong female character that grew up centered by her father & brothers despite the career she has. Glad Swanny found a wonderful person that could see past his scars. My only small complaint was that he thought he wasn’t worthy a little too much. Really enjoyed the connection to another group of badazz men that we’d seen before.

Romance, love, suspense and thriller written expertly. If you love JD Robb, and Patterson you will love this.

Wow so sappy

Okay so you are a virgin and both of you are so emotional. The book would have been much better without the heartfelt and more action. I have read many of these KGI series and I probably won’t anymore. Much too emotional for me.

DISAPPOINTMENT on an otherwise splendid series!

I have listened to the entire KGI series with full enjoyment...until this one! Even the narration fell short! The storyline was shallow and heavily outweighed with sexual content. I have always loved the balance of story vs. sex that Maya Banks achieved in the KGI series. However, in this book...if you divided it into thirds, it would shake out as 1/3 storyline and 2/3 sex. The storyline didn't truly kick in until the last hour of the book. Adam Paul didn't deliver on the establishment of the characters either. He made the main male character seem like a high schooler with a major crush and absolutely NO self confidence at times. The main female character moved WAY too fast which made her unbelievable (considering she was suppose to be a virgin). Come on Maya!!!! You can do better than this! I think if you took the time to LISTEN...not read the entire book, you would quickly pull it from the series.

Wish I could recommend this to other readers, but just can't do it! I have in the past hooked my friends on this series and will continue to highly recommend all the other books in the series with the exception of this one. Not worth the credit!

Hokey

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not sure.

What could Maya Banks have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Develop the struggles Swany experienced and reasons he chose not to have corrective surgery especially when it was apparent how much his disfigurement bothered him. The romance was too quick. The acceptance of her family of Swany was not believable.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I was looking forward to the next chapter in the series but was disappointed with all aspects of the story. I hate the southern accent the narrator uses, Swany sounds ignorant and immature.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Way Dissappointed

This book was not even near the quality of previous KGI stories. There was rape, kidnapping by terrorists, running for their lives, previously and this was just the women. Their storylines were compelling. I couldn't put the books down.
But this one put me to sleep. And where was KGI? Nathan and Joe might as well have not been there.
Getting ready to read the next one whose main character is not even a member of KGI. I hope it is not as dull since I have to pay close to $20. If it is good I will be back with a better score.

Big disappointment!!!

This story was very slow, unrealistic, and boring. I was so very disappointed in this story. Out of all the KGI series, this one was the worst one ever written. Very slow,
Boring, sappy and just well uninteresting!

I have loved all the other stories about the KGI team members, but I honestly don't know what M. Banks was thinking when this one was penned.

I would say don't waste your time on this one. I was so disappointed. This story was so slow, unrealistic and really could have had a better back story and action. This book lacks what the other KGI series have which is fast paced action, fear, adventure and of course a great love story!!!

Not to offend anyone, but this is just my honest opinion. Like I said before, this story just lacked everything to make it a great KGI experience.

Now all the other KGI books in the series are awesome!!! And I would highly recommend them. Just not this one book. A dud!! Skip it and you won't miss a thing.

Also, I did not like the narration done by Adam Paul. All the voices of the other team members, we're different from the previous audio versions of them speaking. Ruined the experience!!! Keep the original person who did the other books.

I wish M. Banks would rewrite this story, but I guess it really doesn't matter now.

P.S. Keep up the great JOB on the KGI Series M. Banks---- Just love all the other books in this series. Aloha
