Publisher's summary

Join Robyn Carr, number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Virgin River and Thunder Point series, as she explores the healing powers of rural Colorado in a brand-new story of fresh starts, budding relationships, and one woman's journey to finding the happiness she's long been missing.

Between the urban bustle of Denver and the high-stress environment of a career in neurosurgery, Maggie Sullivan has hit a wall. When an emergency high-risk procedure results in the death of a teenager, Maggie finds herself in the middle of a lawsuit - and experiencing levels of anxiety she's never faced before. She knows she needs to slow down before she burns out completely, and the best place she can think to do that is Sullivan's Crossing.

Named for Maggie's great-grandfather, the land and charming general store at the crossroads of the Colorado and the Continental Divide Trails have been passed down through the generations and now belong to Maggie's eccentric father, Sully. When she shows up unannounced, he welcomes her with open arms, and she relishes the opportunity to indulge in his simple way of life. But shortly after she arrives, Maggie's world is rocked once again, and she must take on more responsibility than she'd planned.

Though she's relieved a quiet and serious-looking hiker, Cal Jones, is willing to lend a hand, Maggie is suspicious of this mysterious man's eagerness to help - until she finds out the true reason for his deliberate isolation. Though Cal and Maggie both struggle with loss and loneliness, the time they spend together gives Maggie hope for something brighter just on the horizon...if only they can learn to find peace and healing - and perhaps love - with each other.

Makes Me Want to Take a Vacation

For some reason this story didn’t grab me as much as I had hoped. The characters are fine and the story is pretty good. A surgeon, Maggie, has a bunch of bad things happen all at once and she ends up rethinking her life on an emotional retreat at her father’s campgrounds. During which time she meets and has a pretty sweet romance with an initially enigmatic character, Cal. There are a few interesting adventures, in sort of slice-of-life fashion: saving someone from a crime, saving someone from an angry bull, saving a prostitute from jail… There is some melancholy and humor, overall it had a pretty calm and contemplative feeling to it. Cal’s story of loss is very sympathetic and I teared up at hearing it. There wasn’t much of a climax. While I routed for the characters, who were likable, I didn’t feel overly invested in them either. Surprisingly, I think my favorite character might have been Maggie’s stepfather who was only a side character, although Cal is pretty great too. Plummer did a good job as narrator and minus being confused a few times if I was listening to Maggie or Cal’s pov - no complaints. I recommend this if you feel like having a fairly touching, down-to-earth romance story amidst themes of self-rediscovery and family.

Predicatable

Very predictable with little depth. The characters were likable, but the story line never really developed.

What We Find

I truly loved this audiobook, What We Find, and with California Jones, representing Becky, that was amazing. And now, California Jones is getting married to Maggie. What an amazing story. I loved every bit of it.

Awesome story about starting over!

Great characters! People of such integrity, you want them to be real so you can hang out together. Suspenseful moments woven with soul-searching and uncertainty, just like real life. Robyn Carr certainly “got it right” with this one! Loved it!

I want to take a vacation there!

I love the book, the characters, the story, the town it is set in. They are so real and genuine that I felt I got to know them. I want to take a vacation there! Robyn Carr is an incredible writer, and I can't wait to read the next in the series.

Truly Enjoyable Audiobook

It was so refreshing to enjoy a romance story that didn’t include a crazy period where some huge misunderstanding happens that causes one of the lovers to break up with the other. I really enjoyed this audiobook.

very nice read

This was a great read! I wish there was more passion present in the 2 main characters, but other than that, it was good.
