Publisher's summary

Sophie Dempsey wants to help her sister film a video and then get out of Temptation, Ohio. Mayor Phin Tucker wants to play pool with the police chief and keep things peaceful. But when Sophie and Phin meet, they both get more than they want. Gossip, blackmail, adultery, murder, vehicular abuse of a corpse, and slightly perverse but excellent sex: all hell breaks loose in Temptation as Sophie and Phin fall deeper and deeper in trouble, and in love.

If you like Jennifer Crusie, you'll like this one

If you’ve listened to books by Jennifer Crusie before, how does this one compare?

I love listening to Jennifer Crusie books in the car: they are light but entertaining. (Of course, I always end up bringing them into the house because I don't want the story to stop!) This was no exception.

Any additional comments?

While parts of the story are perhaps a little unrealistic, this is another fun and entertaining Jennifer Crusie book!

Just revisited this fun book!

I needed a non-stressful read and Cruisie’d books are fun with heart. Add murder and snark, with a side of romance. What’s not to love? Her books are 20 yeras old but hold up well.

This is one of my favorite books by Jennifer Cruise. I own the book but loved listening to it while I worked.

A bit frustrating but addictive

It took me a while to begin enjoying the story but I'm glad I finished.

There is no other like Crusie

This is the first time I have listened to WTT but before this I've probably read the book at least five times. I love this one and Faking It so much. The narrator however sounds kind of like a machine.

Good book, ok performance

Any additional comments?

This was a really good book. It took me a chapter or two to get into it but I was happy overall with this purchase. This was my first Jennifer Cruise book and I would read another.
The performance was just ok. The voices from the reader were great but the recording seemed very armature. You can hear pages turning, and it had an echo/microphone sound that is irritating.

Laughing and Loving - with a little mystery on top

What did you love best about Welcome to Temptation?

The interactions between Sophia and Phin - Amy and Davey hold their own and I love the voice of Wes. The supporting cast is great and Dilly is a hoot.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters - all of them - the humor and the love story(s)

Have you listened to any of Aasne Vigesaa’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but she did an amazing job on this story - bravo!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the pool scene - he deserved to get his ass handed to him (but I still Love him) - the dressing up in the bar scene and the first time in a bed scene - all so f-ing funny.

Any additional comments?

Beware - if you are drinking anything while reading this book, you might spit it all over at certain parts of this book from laughing too hard. - Don't say I didn't warn you.

Funny and Intriguing Small Town Mystery

If you could sum up Welcome to Temptation in three words, what would they be?

Humorous, Secretive, Seductive

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Sophie. I wish she would have used more of the Dempsey ways and steps to get things, but I thought that she was fun and really enjoyed the connection between her and Phin. Amy definitely made her a push over with their relationship with each other. It made me mad when Amy always made her feel bad about having a life when she wanted to go to LA and Sophie was still unsure of what she wants to do. Although, I did love the connection and family togetherness that Sophie, Amy, and Davey all had with each other. Each with their own quirks.

Which character – as performed by Aasne Vigesaa – was your favorite?

I think that she did a great job at Victoria Mayor Tucker's mother. She, Aasne, did so well at portraying her as the high class, upper bureaucracy, and getting what she wants lady. She was sweet but icy cool. She would have intimidated me!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I thought the bedroom scene with throwing objects was funny and sexy and so much fun!

Any additional comments?

I love the Dempsey's and would love to see the story of Amy after leaving Temptation.

Not Her Best

This book probably would've been better if I hadn't listened to Ms. Crusie's book, Bet Me, first. Still, it was an OK listen. Too many characters to keep up with and the narrator's voice was rather monotonous.

A great listen

Welcome to Temptation is on my list of top listens for 2009. It was laugh out loud funny (which was somewhat problematic during a crowded commute).
