Publisher's summary

Claire Walters has worked for Jason Danvers as his assistant for three years, but he’s never appreciated her as a woman - until the day she jumps out of a cake at his friend’s bachelor party....

To support her ailing mother, Claire is forced to work a second job at a party-planning company. But when her handsome boss ends up with a front-row seat to the action, she’s mortified - and he’s intrigued.

With Danvers International in the middle of an important merger, Jason asks Claire to accompany him on weekend business trips - and suddenly all her fantasies are coming true. Her outspoken best friend thinks that getting a little "executive attention" will solve everything. But Claire sees more in Jason than just sex.

Jason is determined to know how the beautiful, sexy woman in the cake could also be his mousy assistant. The more time they spend together, the more he realizes how much fun it can be to mix business with pleasure. And how much he wants to offer her a happily ever after of her own....

Not Bad, Not Great!

Claire was working two jobs to support herself and her ailing mother. When her boss asks her to work a couple of weekends with him it throws a monkey wrench in her second job. You see Claire works for a pleasure party company, meaning she jumps out of cakes at bachelor parties, in a skimpy outfit.
Jason, whom Claire has worked for, for several years, is suddenly aware of her as a woman, and begins to manage her life the way he thinks it should be, and this causes a lot of fireworks.
This is a cute, mushy, a lil over the top romance book. Simply put a happily ever after book.

The Narrator drove me nuts, I think I have run across so many mediocre narrators lately that I am becoming immune. Listen to the sample before you purchase. The book isn’t bad, if you need a light fluffy read then get this one.

Rescue me!

Would you try another book from Sydney Landon and/or Allyson Ryan?

yes but maybe not back to back like I would normally do.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Now the narrartor while she has a sweet soothing calming voice which is great but not great for a book of this nature. Maybe a zin/self help book? And lord this woman talks so freakin slow. What's up with that? I had to speed her up and you can really tell how slow she talks when you speed her all the way up and she finally sounds like she is talking at a regular speed.

Any additional comments?

She woman, he man, she in trouble, he wants to rescue her from all her problems. ( hence the title for my review) This is almost a sickly sweet mush romance book. I found myself saying really?! No man talks like this.....
The story started off strong but once the h&h got together it became that sickly sweet mushy lovey dovey * rolls my eyes*
Loved Claires best friend, she made me laugh threw out the book and I will be getting the next one in the series just to see if she holds her fire in her own book that she had in this one. Over all it was a good book, I assume this is a new arthor ( at least for me it was) she has alot of promise in her cant wait to see what she writes in the future.

Funny, witty and clever

I usually read a lot of historical romance but since there was a 4.95 sale, I ended up buying a few books off of the romance list and this was one of them. Though not a huge fan of modern romance, I actually really enjoyed this book. S London is very funny and I caught myself laughing out loud throughout the story. A very light and entertaining book, although love got introduced very quickly. Regardless, it is definitely worth a credit even without a sale.

Read the Reviews before Buying

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

a great reader could have saved this one. The story was Ok, maybe a bit too mushy as another reviewer wrote.

What was most disappointing about Sydney Landon’s story?

the outline was good and it started out good, but somewhere in the middle, the author got
into a whoa is me story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

the reader! It seems like this reader has an AKA, and she tried to improve her style, but her use of wouldn't and couldn't gave her away. I too had to speed up the recording as the last 50 mins where so slow. Female voices were ok,but our strong hero was made to
sound like a weak person.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Weekends Required?

this story was not for me . I do not care for female leads who think they are so strong and they have to prove they can do everything by themselves. It just gets boring to listen to the lead go on and on.

Story Been There Done That-Good PartsCame Too Late

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was o.k. My bar is set pretty high, I probably will not listen again.

Has Weekends Required turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, not at all....I love this genre, it just took too long for characters to act on their attraction. The 'rich boss-starving secretary' has been done many times-there was not anything that made this one unique or stand out.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I love narrators and many times they make a book in genres I'm not particularly interested in (Historical Romance example McCabe Highland Series) draw me in.This narrator was very limited in her execution...subtle differences made for similar voices for all characters.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Nope

Any additional comments?

Got this on a $4.95 sale...I'm interested enough to following the rest of the series but only if I can get them at the $4.95 or better price. NOT creditworthy in my opinion.

NOTE: Adult themes-graphic romance scenes

Bad Narration!

I'll never again listen to a book narrated by Allyson Ryan.
The story was *just* okay. I might feel differently about it if someone else narrated. It was hard to separate.

Poor Narration

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator sounded extremely young and made it sound as if I was listening to a Nancy Drew or Babysitter's Club book.

Any additional comments?

Would not buy again.

Feel Good Listen

I really enjoyed this audiobook, the story is warm and anyone in my age group could probably relate to issues in Claire and her Mother’s life living with a verbally abusive husband and the death of a sibling. I like these feel good stories and how strong the women are and that love is never where you think it is, had me in tears at times, Jason is just so cool. The ending was predictable no angst just love. The narration was good.
