Publisher's summary

Life isn't fair. Most women know it. But what can you do about it? Plenty...if you're part of the Sisterhood. On the surface, these seven women are as different as can be - but each has had her share of bad luck, from cheating husbands to sexist colleagues to a legal system that often doesn't do its job. Now, drawn together by tragedy, they're forging a bond that will help them right the wrongs committed against them and discover an inner strength they didn't know they had. Growing bolder with each act of justice, the Sisterhood is learning that when bad things happen, you can roll over and play dead...or you can get up fighting...

In the tradition of The First Wives' Club, Weekend Warriors is a slam-bang, take-no-prisoners tale of survival, sweet revenge, and the healing power of friendship.

Critic reviews

"Readers who grow weary of seeing the bad guys get away with their crimes will enjoy seeing what happens when well-funded, very angry women take the law into their own hands." ( Booklist)

Great narration

This is the first in a suspense series in which the amount of action and quirky characters fit perfectly together. A very smooth operation is pulled off by non professionals to right a horrible wrong that each of them feel equally motivated to vindicate. I enjoyed this very entertaining story by Fern Michaels that was made great by Laural Merlington's narrative. Not quite a cozy because of some of the brutality and lack of sexy romance, but would definitely be a fun dramady for the big screen. I will be reading more in this series.

Exhilarating

I enjoyed this book and all of the characters. Sitting on the edge of the seat. Well wrote. Very descriptive. I could see as I read what was going on.

Fun Story

The Weekend Warriors is the first book in the Sisterhood series. I picked it up since I won a Goodreads giveaway of the 34th book in the series and wanted to get an intro to the characters before tackling that one 😅 It was definitely a fun story about a group of women teaming up to exact revenge on the men who have wronged them in their lives. It was a good premise and entertaining - I particularly liked Catherine and Yoko - but it was just missing something to make it a stand out for me. I’ll probably read a few more in the series - I think it’ll be interesting to get to know the characters more - but likely not all 30-something of them 😅

Addicted

Once I started this series I am just plowing through them all; the sisterhood. I listen to and from work and find myself in the parking lot getting one more paragraph in. The story is great. The narrator does a wonderful job in my opinion given male voices are very difficult for women. She does great! Once you get to about the 4th or 5th one? hard to figure out the next in the series. I goggled Fern Michaels series and got a list to help me figure out which one was next; since a few of them do not have the sisterhood in the title. Like Hokus Pokus. I really am enjoying them all.

GREAT CHARACTERS AD GREAT STORYLINE!

Oh, in this day and age, it is most comforting to enjoy a story with vigilance and justice being rendered by the wronged when the Justice System screws up. Loved the way the characters are presented and thought that Laura did a WONDERFUL narrative job. My only complaint was the end of the story; but that was taken care of by ordering the next book, which I have done. Can't wait to get into it. you've got a new fan, Fern!

Not Her Best

I generally enjoy this author, and I'll admit that I did enjoy portions of this story. But I certainly can't consider this the author's best work.

I would label this chick-lit, although it was actually a man who suggested this series to me. Apparently, he's really into what I refer to as "revenge porn." We all get it. The system doesn't always work. People get screwed sometimes and the law falls short of justice for the victim. Some people know how to game the system and get away with their evil deeds. We've probably all had those moments when we fantasize about making the person that trashed our lives pay for it in an "eye for an eye" fashion.

If you're big on this kind of fiction, especially geared toward street justice for women, you'll probably like this story. While I like some novels that fall into this vein, this particular one didn't hit it outta' the park for me. It was good, just not great. I think I just expected more from this author based on other works of hers that I've read and enjoyed.
