Publisher's summary

Lottie just knows that her boyfriend is going to propose during lunch at one of London’s fanciest restaurants. But when his big question involves a trip abroad, not a trip down the aisle, she’s completely crushed. So when Ben, an old flame, calls her out of the blue and reminds Lottie of their pact to get married if they were both still single at 30, she jumps at the chance. No formal dates - just a quick march to the altar and a honeymoon on Ikonos, the sun-drenched Greek island where they first met years ago.

Their family and friends are horrified. Fliss, Lottie’s older sister, knows that Lottie can be impulsive - but surely this is her worst decision yet. And Ben’s colleague Lorcan fears that this hasty marriage will ruin his friend’s career. To keep Lottie and Ben from making a terrible mistake, Fliss concocts an elaborate scheme to sabotage their wedding night. As she and Lorcan jet off to Ikonos in pursuit, Lottie and Ben are in for a honeymoon to remember, for better...or worse.

Light entertainment but not Kinsella's best.

Any additional comments?

If you have never read a Sophie Kinsella book, don't start here. This is a pretty standard offering from SK, but not close to her best work. It has the usual amusing preposterous plotting but lacks the charm of her previous work and is much more R Rated than usual (language and sexy stuff). I suppose the premise of one sister trying to consummate her marriage and have a romantic wedding night, while the other sister tries to stop that from happening should have clued me in to that. There were a couple of laugh out loud moments but not enough to make this a recommendable read. The narration was excellent though. No complaints there.

A Great Sophie Kinsella Fix

Any additional comments?

A typical Sophie Kinella book, told this time from different character perspectives. An enjoyable listen.

very fun

Would you consider the audio edition of Wedding Night to be better than the print version?

I don't know

What did you like best about this story?

all the traveling and dreams

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

the sense of love of the sisters

Any additional comments?

it was corny trying to keep the couple apart, this went overboard.

Not like other Kinsella books

I have really enjoyed her other books but found this one so far-fetched that it lost me in liking the characters or caring what happened at all

Really disappointing.

I love Sophie Kinsella's wit and originality. Neither made anything more than cameo appearances in this situational comedy that would have been better told in a half-hour episode of The King Of Queens or (insert name of really contrived sitcom TV show with characters so stupid thatyou want to throw your slippers at the television).

I say it would have been better told in that format because that is the level of entertainment available in the story, and also because then it would have been over faster. .

Excellent performances couldn't save it. Sorry, Sophie. This was not your finest hour.

If I can keep anyone from wasting an Audible credit on this, I will feel that the hours I invested in listening to this babble are slightly redeemed. (Couldn't finish it. Just too painful.)

Frolicking fun read

Another Great fun read by Sophie Kinsella. After reAding the Shopaholic series, had to try something else. Lots of crazy fun activity and characters. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun listen. Can’t wait to listen to another of her books!!

Fun, funny and a wonderful escape!

Where does Wedding Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I feel like that’s too broad for my listening tastes, so out of all the romantic comedies I have listened to, it ranks in the top three for sure.

What other book might you compare Wedding Night to and why?

“The Wedding Date” by Jasmine Guillory had the same snap to it’s humor and comedic situations. In fact, it was because I had just read and loved that book that I chose to get “Wedding Night.” I realized that romantic comedies were not just good in movie form at that point. I’d also say that “My Not So Perfect Life” by Sophie Kinsella would also be a good comparison, obviously, because the humor is the same and the situational humor is hilarious without being too outlandish.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved all of the narrator choices for this book! I don’t think I would’ve connected with most of the characters if it weren’t for the narrators. It truly felt like I was right there along side them. There were points where I almost forgot I was not watching a movie, but was listening to an audiobook they were so engaging.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really. It’s a light-hearted romantic comedy that I thoroughly enjoyed, but I read too many diverse genres and sub genres to really be “moved greatly” by a romcom, if that makes sense? This is one of my favorite reads of the year, so that’s to be dismissive of the book. It’s just that I also read a lot of nonfiction that is particularly moving because it actually happened so I’m not a good one to ask about this re: this particular book.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely loved this book. I’m so glad I just went with my urge to get a romantic comedy and landed on this one. I listened to it all in almost one sitting because of a fibromyalgia pain flare up that’s lasted way too long. This made the laying down in bed not so torturous. It made it bearable and actually kind of sort of fun. I had moments, like I stated above, where I near forgot I was not watching a movie or a Netflix TV series but was listening to an audiobook. I usually fall asleep while listening to an audiobook if it gets to be a certain time, but I actually had to turn this one off in order to sleep because I was so into it. If you are looking for a light hearted, guaranteed happy ending book that is fun, silly and interesting, then look no further!

Silly.............but Fun!

I am a huge Sophie Kinsella fan..........believe I have read just about everything she has written. Definitely preferred the Shopoholic books to her stand-alones.

Wedding Night is a quick read and fun.........the narrators play a huge part in making this true.

Laugh out loud! A fun "listen"!

Classic Kinsella style... miscommunications, mishaps and mayhem ensue as the plucky heroine navigates love and relationships! Enjoy the ride!
