Publisher's Summary

In the fifth book in the New York Times best-selling Walk Series, Alan Christensen finally reaches his destination.

A year earlier, Seattle advertising executive Alan Christoffersen lost everything he held dear - his beloved wife was killed in a terrible accident; his partner stole his business from him; and the bank foreclosed on his home when he couldn’t pay the mortgage. With seemingly nothing left to live for, Alan set out to walk from Seattle to the farthest point on the map, Key West. And now, after walking more than two thousand miles on a journey filled with surprises, dangers, and revelations, he approaches his destination - and the most important decision of his life.

Romantic, suspenseful, and deeply spiritual, the Walk Series has been hailed by critics as "intriguing" (Deseret Morning News), "unconventional" (Publishers Weekly), and "definitely a journey worth taking" (Booklist). As Alan approaches Key West and the end of his quest, the revelations continue.

    "Book Five--"

I'm not sure why Audible does not have this book linked to the series, but it is Book Five in a 5-book series that begins with The Walk.

I loved this series--I listened to the final four books consecutively--I just could not stop until the journey was complete. I was so involved, I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction! It is well written and uplifting. And the journey's conclusion was sweet and satisfying.

The author narrates all five books in the series, so I liked the consistency of the same tone and voice throughout. I highly recommend the whole series--and listening to them in order. It is definitely worth the time and credits you will invest--and I hope you enjoy the books as much as I did!!

    "Enjoyable book"

I had not read a Richard Paul Evans book in years so when I saw this new book on Audible I decided to get it. I did not realize that it was the last book in a series of five books. But the author provided enough background; I quickly got the highlights of the prior books in the series. In a small way this book reminded me of John Steinbeck’s “Travels with Charley”. Our hero Alan Christofferson’s wife dies in an accident, his partner steals all their clients from their boutique ad agency in Seattle and starts his own company, the bank forecloses on his home, and his automobiles are repossessed. Alan decides to walk across the continental United States by the longest route, Seattle, Washington to Key West, Florida in an attempt to deal with his grief and decided what to do with his life. He meets interesting people on this walk and lessons are learned along the way. This book opens with Alan stopping his journey at the boarder of Florida to fly to Pasadena as his father has had a heart attack. He stays at his father house and visits him at the hospital. Alan discovers a genealogy book his father is working on about their family history. He reads this in the evening and discusses it with his father on their visits. His father dies leaving everything to Alan including a letter he is to read when he reaches the farthest point of Key West. The book is mostly about his return to Florida and his continuing trek to Key West. He continues to meet interesting people including a discussion about God with a man handing out flyers for a local church. This is an enjoyable book and leaves one thinking of things greater than oneself. The book was narrated by the author.

"I have enjoyed this series every step of the way!"

I have enjoyed The Walk series every step of the way. Richard Paul Evans delivers not only in text but in narration. I can not recommend this author and this adventure more highly than to say I have shared this with everyone I love...those who enjoy listening received an audio version, those who prefer reading were sent each sequel as soon as it was in print. A great story.

The narration was horrible. The story is very slow and way too much unnecessary detail. " I went to bed after soaking in a bath with Epsom salts". Wow really???

    "My journey too"

I planned on these 5 books going with me as I travel. Instead I neglected last minute chores to finish them all.
I cried, laughed, considered my own life story through a new perspective, was pulled up short by experiences shared… I lived this amazing tale and am encouraged in my own walk.
    Thank you Richard Paul Evans

    "Reader is the problem"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I like the walk series very much. I wanted to listen to the series rather than read them all, but I was always distracted by the author's narration. Though the timbre of his voice was pleasant, his diction is atrocious. All words with ai (hail) had the short e...HELL. Words with ee sound were a distraction - peel was pill. He left syllables out of words, didn't was dint...I was constantly flinching. Unless he improves on this, he needs to let another reader tackle his books.
