Publisher's summary

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of science fiction, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance brings another action-, adventure-, and suspense-filled story to transport listeners out of this world.

Prince Viper d'Rojah, a warrior from the Sarafin cat shifter species, is not happy when he is sent on a special mission by his older brother, Vox, King of the Sarafin. The mission is to deliver important documents to the human authorities before kidnapping the sister and grandmother of Vox's mate, Riley. He has handled tougher assignments in his sleep and just wants to get back to finding the traitors trying to kill him and his family!

Tina St. Claire was finally happy with her life until her big sister, Riley, suddenly disappeared. Even Grandma Pearl suspected that Riley's ex-employer was hiding something. Determined to find Riley, Tina's research unwittingly leads the danger to her and Grandma Pearl. The unexpected arrival of a strange man causes things to go from bad to worse when he gives her and Grandma Pearl a packet of material he claims is from Riley. Riley had warned Viper that neither her sister nor Grandma Pearl would willingly come with him. Viper couldn't care less whether the females wanted to come or not; he had never failed a mission and wasn't about to start now.

Viper soon discovers this mission has turned into the most important one of his life when both he and his cat recognize that Tina is their mate. Now, he has to keep Tina and her gun-toting grandmother alive. The question is, who is going to save him when both women discover his plans to kidnap them?

3.5 Viper's Defiant Mate Stars

So this is book 2, and it’s the same world as the first, only it’s with Vox and Riley’s siblings.

I have to say I loved Viper and Tina’s story but I kinda liked Riley and Vox just a little bit more.

Oh does Tina put Viper though his passes.. It was hella funny and sweet how hard he fights to show her he wants her.

I love that he has to win over their grandmother as well. That was kinda sweet.

These females really don’t make it easy on a guy but what I love is that both males, really don’t give up. When they found there mates they did anything and everything to be with them and show them they are it for each other.

Swoony right! I know.
Great book, wonderful series, and the narrator awesome.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

VIPER'S LIFE AFTER TINA & GRANDMA PEARL!

Would you listen to Viper’s Defiant Mate again? Why?

Yes. I always listen to good stories more than once, twice - well many times! Especially when they have great characters, strongminded women and of course lots of funny moments. Poor Viper, but he was awarded with happiness in the end.

What did you like best about this story?

All the inter-action with the many secondary characters. Grandma Pearl is not as funny as Riley, but she rates right up there.

Which character – as performed by David Brenin – was your favorite?

Sorry - can't pick just one. David Brenin is the MAN! I could listen to him anytime anywhere - even if he was reciting the dictionary. B. J. Harrison (another narrator) is almost as good as David.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Ah, laughter mostly.

Any additional comments?

Good Job Susan.

Another Exciting Read

I just love that Rhylee’s family is just as out there as she was. Viper definitely met his match. My only complaint is that Grandma Pearl is 58, same age as I am. Sometimes she is described as an old lady and I deeply resented that. She was just as feisty and kick butt as her granddaughters!

Was a very good story

It was not as good as the first book. It had its differences. Viper was supposed to be an assassin silent and hidden. His brother Vox is the one who does the great big blow up in your face attacks. Viper is setup as stealthy and invisible. Viper draws too much attention many times. It came together their skills in parts of the book. When she tricks him with the candy and the final battle where she keeps the villain's attention distracted. Those seem to be precise and silent moves. Not brute strength but acts of guile. I would have liked to see more of that but Viper was always honest and forward with Tina a little different temperament from a spy and assassin. I really liked the story. I will continue with the series.

Home Run for S.E. Smith

If you enjoy belly-holding comedy with your drama and love story, this book will fill every need.
The characters come to life with the genius of Smith's story telling.
Without spoiling the plot by giving away the story, I just want to say it was totally enjoyable for me. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did.
David Brenin did an outstanding job of reading. It amazing to me how he brings each character to life in such startling clarity and individuality. He definitely has become one of my faborite readers.
