Publisher's summary

She'd promised never to be like her mother. One man stands in the way of that promise.

Renee Winters has the voice and the face of an angel. She's the worship leader at her church, runs the Brides for Christ program for young teenage girls, and is the chaste "bride" modeling the gowns for the bridal shop she works at.

The problem? It's all a lie.

As a child, Renee's alcoholic mother paraded a slew of men in and out their home. Renee vowed she would never turn out like her, but one broken night, she ran from the nightmare of her home and into the arms of handsome bad-boy Ian McKnight. She tries to erase her moment of weakness with years of faithful service. Yet each time she stands before young girls, preaching about the beauty of remaining pure, she is painfully aware of her broken vows.

Then Ian returns - a wounded soldier, a recovering alcoholic, and no stranger to broken vows. Ian knows the truth, and Renee avoids him, unsure if she can trust him - or herself. When the bridal shop hires him to create a website, she realizes she must face the truth. With his camera pointed in her direction, he tries to capture the real Renee, the one behind the veil of lies.

Will Ian tempt Renee to break her promises again, or will he help her understand the true nature of her vows?

Reconciled and Redeemed

Veils and Vows
: Michelle Lynn Brown

This is a sweet clean story of love and God's redeeming power. Do people's past dictate their future, or is forgiveness and love enough. A young woman meets the young man she loved as a teen. Can they overcome the one mistake in their past that could keep them apart forever?

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Leonor A Woodworth performs with a beautiful spirit that fits so well with the story.

God's love and grace lifts the veil of guilt.

Veils and Vows is an engaging romance novel in Reconciled and Redeemed series by Michelle Lynn Brown. Although part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone story. Renee and Ian have been friends since their teenage years, both having struggled with family lives that were far from ideal. Can one night in their past keep them from each other forever? Will Renee be able to keep the vow she made? Can Ian help lift the veils of guilt and fear from his friend's heart? In the light of Christian values, the author realistically deals with some very real and raw issues of human life--alcoholism, promiscuous lifestyle, and premarital sex. Readers can relate well to the characters as they deal with guilt, brokenness, forgiveness, and restoration. I listened to the audiobook version of this book. Leonor A. Woodworth does an excellent job narrating the story and bringing the characters to life, making for an enjoyable listening experience. I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a review and the opinions are my own.

Better than book 1, not as good as book 2

I had a hard time following this book. It’s like it missed something. I also was tired of the female protagonist saying over and over how she didn’t want to be like her mother. Especially when everyone tells her it will never happen.
The one good thing this book brings up is passion and love were designed by God and marriage needs to have Christ at the center of that marriage in order for that marriage to be full of love and to be successful!

Story about regret and redemption

This story is about how redemption can happen even when you do not understand how to be redeemed.

Renee and Ian made a big mistake when they were young. Both had been living with the guilt for years separately until God brings them together to look towards the redemption that only God can give.

This was a good book about how even what some would say is a "big" sin can be redeemed and restoration is possible. Leonor Woodworth was a great narrator.
