Publisher's summary

Who says a vamp can't have it all?

Darcy Newhart thought it was a stroke of genius—the first-ever reality TV show where mortals vie with vampires for the title of The Sexiest Man on Earth. As the show's director, Darcy's career would be on track again. And she can finally have a life apart from the vampire harem. Okay, so she's still technically dead, but two out of three's not bad. Now she just has to make sure that a mortal doesn't win. If only she wasn't so distracted by a super-sexy and live contestant named Austin....

But Darcy doesn't know the worst of it. Austin Erickson is actually a vampire slayer! And he's got his eye on the show's leggy blond director. Only problem is, he's never wanted any woman—living or dead—as badly. But if he wins her heart, will he lose his soul? And if it means an eternity of hot, passionate loving with Darcy, does that really matter anyway?

LOVE

IM GOING TO HAVE TO SAY THE SAME THING FOR ALL THE LOVE AT STAKE BOOK IN THIS SERIES. ALL THE NARRATORS WERE REALLY GOOD. SOME BETTER THAN OTHERS BUT IT IS DEFINITLY WORTH BUYING OR USING YOUR CREDITS ON. JUST MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN THO THE BOOKS IN ORDER ACCORDING TO THE BOOK # OR THE RELEASE DATE. ONE OF THE BOOKS IS NOT PART OF THE SERIES BUT PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE. AFTER BOOK 9 YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO VAMPIRE MINE

Very fun!

I listened to the story while doing the spring cleaning. It was lots of fun and helped to keep my mind occupied. the characters are all different in their own ways so there is always someone to relate with. I liked the Independence the woman learn and enjoyed the book as a whole.

Terrible Narrator!

Would you try another book from Kerrelyn Sparks and/or Abby Craden?

I love Ms. Sparks (though this is my least favorite LaS novel), but I would avoid Ms. Craden. She's awful. Clearly, she can only do one male voice with any decency. And for some reason that I haven't figured out, Vanda sounds like a total chain smoker. Just plain awful.

Silly but Fun

Overall, I enjoyed the book and wasn't sorry I listened. The premise of the story was just as ridiculous as the first book in the series, but this time a bit more lighthearted and film noir at the same time (if that is possible). The author did a great job of keeping you guessing with some dramatic and well-timed reveals.

I was a little disappointed that some of the voices of the characters from the last book weren't the same this time around (eg: Roman). I was also a bit disappointed with the characters' actions at the end of the book; they were more than a bit cliched and nonsensical. Still, I enjoyed it!

Undercover fun.

This was a really enjoyable listen. Imaginative premise, and funny situations abound. The harem was funny mostly, but at times their actions were tedious, but it lent to the story and helped to move the plot along. Sparks writes some really great heroes, they get more romantic as you go.

Good follow up

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would if you enjoy the lighter side of vamperic romance novels. The second in this series reminds me of the Lyndsay Sands novels. Entertaining and interesting.

What did you like best about this story?

It is a slightly different take and I enjoyed many of the characters interplay within the story.

Which character – as performed by Abby Craden – was your favorite?

I liked Darcy. The heroine of the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was not a book I couldn't put down. But it was a book I did want to finish. I enjoyed the story. This book has some intrigue that keeps you interested and looking forward to the next installment.

Any additional comments?

If you have the additional credits and enjoy vampire stories without the darker side like the JR Ward BDB or Lara Adrians Breed series. You'll enjoy the break.

Really enjoyed this book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Vamps and the City to be better than the print version?

I think so. The narrator was a little distracting with some of the voices she created for certain characters. For instance the character Shanna sounds exactly like Marilyn Monroe with her "breathy" voice, it wasn't bad just a little distracting from the story.
