Two NYT best-selling author styles come together for dark paranormal romance + urban fantasy = a yummy brief bites novelette.
Narah Adrienne is a bounty enforcer in the near future. She runs the seedy side of her game, capturing criminals too dangerous for the local law enforcement. Using unorthodox methods, she finds herself in the crosshairs of the Magistrate for too many allowable kills for the quarter.
And her head hurts like hell.
Aeslin is part of an elite vampire squad of Turners. A rare sect of vampire scouts who possess the ability to find women with enough undead blood to be turned into full vampire. As the numbers of supernaturals dwindle, it is the hope of the Nobles that extinction can be a thing of the past with female hybrids.
In a race against time and common enemies, can Aeslin find the one female who is meant to be turned and also his parallel soul? Or will the fabled carrot the Nobles dangle turn out to be a lie perpetuated by desperation?

I am addicted to audiobooks. It makes my 1 hour (each way) commute go by without me becoming an agressive driver. lol
I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I thought the story was good. It is a shame that it is so short because it is actually equivalent to a chapter in a book. I bought the next two books. It can be expensive to read an entire book and pay for each chapter. The narrator did an okay job. Not one of my favorites.

Narah is a bounty hunter with snark and toughness. She doesn't know she is vampire. Two fractions are after her, one to turn her into a vampire and have children and one hunter to sterilize her. Fun dialogue decent story. Entertaining. The narrator turned me off by constant pauses...way too long and Eden's voice was horrible.
As the first book of the series it give a good explanation of the setting and what the book is about. The book starts with a vampire hunter and vampire all after the same woman for two completely different reason one wants her to turn into what she really is a vampire and give her the opportunity to have kids the other wants to sterilize her keeping her human. Only complaint is I wish it was a little longer but overall I like the premise and I am excited to start the other books. The narrator is very interesting it took me a little while to get used to her but she's great.

hook line sinker
When the boss gave the bounty hunter a rundown of her killing offenses
The husky voice and touch of snark fit the bounty hunter to a tee
it left me yearning to know more about the characters and the world of these Supernatural beings
longing for a continuation

I wasn't too fond of the start of the story. The main character comes off a little snobby, surprised that she has to see the magistrate for killing too many monsters. She should have seen that coming and imo she deserves the punishment she gets. The story picks up as Aeslin is introduced. As a teaser for a longer story, I like it. The narrator did ok, but didn't really stand out.
Audiobook Addict. It's all about the Listen. Mostly Romance, but I do branch out a bit. Reviews are my honest opinions-popular or not.
IF you like serials and paranormal romance, this is an excellent choice. Full disclosure: I am not a fan of serials. That being said, to be fair, I will mostly review this on the whole rather than critique each individual "episode." For those like me, I would like to say, that, if this is ever combined into a single audiobook, I would absolutely put it in my wish list.
This is a well-written, interesting and different story with a bounty enforcer who is having some serious health issues along with a disciplinary action at work for being a bit overzealous in defending herself against the bad guys. She's got 2 men after her: one to change her into vampire, and one to sterilize her and force her to remain human.
The narrator does a decent job. (3-good, 4-great, 5-perfect) There are mispronunciations, and I think she tries a bit too hard to give each character a distinct voice/accent which is sometimes a bit much, when she would have been better off just giving each character a little different cadence or pace instead. Overall, she does tell the story and conveys the right emotions for what is going on.

I like the different spin the author took with vampires. The story is very interesting. I look forward to continuing with the series.
This narrator is awful. She does terrible voices for the characters.

I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Honestly, I couldn't even make it through this book... The narrator was horrible... I couldn't tell the male from females... plus there was this really whinny and annoy use of narration for the secondary characters, that just didn't work...
I manage to keep listening to chapter 4 then I just had to stop... What I did listen too seemed pretty interesting. This is a new take on Vampires, as there are no female vampires, unless they are changed from human. But the human females have to have a certain kind of blood.."undead" blood and be turned before the hunters seek them out and make it so they can't be turned... That is the jest of the book I think... not too sure, as I couldn't take the narrator's approach at all...
