Meet the MacLauchlan Berserkers...

Roderick

He's death for hire, cursed by a malicious enemy who left him unable to speak. She's a refugee with a dangerous secret that could cost her life. Outnumbered by thousands, he's fated to die in battle like so many Berserkers before him. Could the strength of their love defy destiny?

Connor

He's a mercenary Laird who fears nothing but the darkness inside him. She's a noble beauty, sold to the highest bidder. He mistakenly rescues her from a fate worse than death, but now she's his captive. They must battle their pride and their explosive attraction to each other in order to defeat a common enemy who threatens the clan's survival.

Finn

He's a nameless bastard, stalking the Highlands bent on revenge and murder when he stumbles on an infant deserted in the snow. She's a desperate woman who's lost everything, including her dignity. They are three of the world's Unwanted. On a snowy Solstice night, their tale becomes one of blood and vengeance, of love, redemption, and forging the bonds that make a family.

Narrator could be better

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There aren't a ton of details because it is a set of 3 short stories. Felt like I was thrown into the story in the beginning.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Derek Perkins?

A woman narrator. The narrator just didn't make me feel like the characters were supposed to look from the words the author used to describe them.

Any additional comments?

Hot love scenes...but it is a collection of 3 short story's so I don't guess there is too much other you could add before it became a whole trilogy. I did not like the first story as much as the last 2.

Unleashed

Best of the audiobooks written by Kerrigan Byrne, three intertwined storeys about couples of very different backgrounds finding and accepting each other in times of fear, grief and need. Written about Norse and Scottish families and acceptance and love. Truly an adventure!

Steamy Fantasy - Very Nice

Where does Unleashed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This ranks within my top 20 audio books. I love the way that this is a trilogy. The books just flow into each other. It also fits in well with the Druid series.

Any additional comments?

I love the scene with Connor in the River, Finn in the great hall and Roderick when confronting the Blue Beserker. The way the Beserkers change is a very good portrayal of the myth. In the myths, usually the blood just makes them all crazy. I like that they can't kill their mates or family.

Very hot and spicy

I loved the three stories and how they built on one another, each getting better and better. The sex scenes were ... just wow!

Subduction

Subduction at it's highest primal level... Intense... I've listen to this twice and each time feels like the first.

Great trio of short stories

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this set of three short stories about brothers who are also berserkers. I don't do a lot of highlander romances mostly because (IMHO) the narrators for those usually suck balls, but Derek Perkins has a great voice so I decided to take a chance on this one. Each story can be enjoyed on it's own, or all together. None feels too short, and all are well-developed from the romance perspective. I didn't see anything else by Kerrigan Byrne on Audible but I would absolutely pick up more from him or her should it be released.

Greatest Scottish Romance

This was the best historical Scottish Romance novelist I’ve ever read. The performance was captivating. The stories entertaining. I look forward to more by the same author.

An amazing story amazingly read!

I have to be honest, historical romance is not a genre I typically follow. In this case, I was looking for something new, and was intrigued by the promise of berserker mythology. I was hooked from the very first word. Derek Perkins could probably read a chinese take-out menu and have it sound like a Shakespearian sonnet. So much the better when the material he's reading is Byrne's excellent dialog and poetic prose. This trilogy was so much more than I expected, from the skillful weaving of history and mythology to the make-you-squee-all-alone-in-your-room paranormal romance. This story has it all, and Miss Byrne has a new fan! I can't wait to see (and hear) what she does next!

Don't Pass This Up!

Any additional comments?

Not just three great stories, but three well written stories that provide all the romance I want with something I've never encountered before--berserkers! Don't be fooled. These shorter stories are as well done as any novella from a well-known, long-standing series. Loved the characters enough to wish for full length novels. I thought the narrator did a good job, and I hope to find the next trilogy from this author on audio soon.
