Meet the MacLauchlan Berserkers...

Roderick

He's death for hire, cursed by a malicious enemy who left him unable to speak. She's a refugee with a dangerous secret that could cost her life. Outnumbered by thousands, he's fated to die in battle like so many Berserkers before him. Could the strength of their love defy destiny?

Connor

He's a mercenary Laird who fears nothing but the darkness inside him. She's a noble beauty, sold to the highest bidder. He mistakenly rescues her from a fate worse than death, but now she's his captive. They must battle their pride and their explosive attraction to each other in order to defeat a common enemy who threatens the clan's survival.

Finn

He's a nameless bastard, stalking the Highlands bent on revenge and murder when he stumbles on an infant deserted in the snow. She's a desperate woman who's lost everything, including her dignity. They are three of the world's Unwanted. On a snowy Solstice night, their tale becomes one of blood and vengeance, of love, redemption, and forging the bonds that make a family.

3 PARANORMAL CELTIC HIGHLAND HEROES IN 1 BOOK

Anything with the words 'Historical Highland' together under the romance section and I just can't resist them but I thought this would be 1 book but it's actually 3 novellas about each of the MacLauchlan brothers who are PARANORMAL Berserkers.

To be honest, at the start I didn't think I was going to like this new series however I soon changed my mind - the Berserkers aren't the stereotypical alpha Highland hunks - they are also paranormal and turn into fighting machines at the sight or smell of blood and each have different abilities. In these novellas each of the brothers find their mates under tense and dangerous circumstances but once found they certainly don't waste any time claiming them in a very hot and passionate way.

Because they are each short they have to pack a lot in and I sometimes felt that they could have been more enjoyable if they were longer - but hey they weren't so - they were action packed, full of passion, sex and killing by likeable unforgettable characters. There's magic, mayhem, murder and a mystical ancient deity that's just starting to get in on the act.

Worth a credit? Yes, it was pure escapism, very pleasurable and I'll definitely download the next instalment.

WOW!💜👍

I don't know why I never tried these books before... I certainly did not realize what an immense joy I was missing out on! Three tales of the loves of three berserkers, each a portion of a larger story, all cannily crafted. I'm sad to reach the end of this trilogy but I already bought and downloaded the other two series in impatient anticipation.

Derek Perkins is a joy to listen to, there are few male narrators as good. His male and female individuals are each distinct and full of personality and emotion. The rumble of his sexy brogue is yumminess indeed!

Heat Factor ? A full rolling boil for all three tales! The chemistry between the couples is the driving force of each story and it is handled with perfection.

Creditworthy? Duh... YES!!!!

Wow..

Any additional comments?

Roderick
What a nice little story. Sweet love story and some very nice sex. It was nice sex because Roderick was mute and couldn’t say the stupid things authors usually have them say that have me rolling my eyes. Evelyn was a little goofy and ran off at the mouth when she was nervous and that made her sooo likable. Oh, and, Alrik got all that he deserved.

Connor
Another sweet story. I just love how the berserkers decide who will be their mate. LOL.. Even though they sound scary as hell when they’re in that form. AND I really don’t know how a woman could possibly get turned on by him when she’d surrounded by dead bodies. Fortunately, THAT didn’t last long. I really did like Connor and Lindsay. And, again, the bad guy, Angus, got what he deserved and I was happy about that.

Finn
The end! And what a great book. I loved every story and every hero and heroine. Loved Finn and Rhona the best, I think. She had it pretty rough so I was really happy for their HEA. And it was nice to see Roderick and Evelyn and Connor and Lindsay. Three really wonderful brothers. All got their own bad guy, including Finn.

As to the narrator: Again, he was just alright for me. The worst was Finn's voice. I don't know, he sounded kind of stupid. I'm just not that crazy about Derek Perkins.

New favorite male narrator!

Excellent narration and great stories. Each story had different elements and were unique. I wish that they were all books in a series and were much longer because I didn't want them to end! Great character development despite being so short.

Simply irresistible.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

"Unleashed" provides three charmingly captivating stories which combine elements of myth explored in a uniquely clever style. Before this novel, I had never heard of Berserkers; now I can't wait to hear more. Byrne's prose reads like poetry, creating visual images and evoking powerful sentiments, giving readers a full range of emotional experience.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed all of the characters for different reasons with one reason outstanding; while many were supernatural beings, they all shared characteristics that show us human frailty in one way or another. Everybody can identify with this.

Have you listened to any of Derek Perkins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first experience listening to Derek Perkins's narration and while I am a stranger to his works; I am no stranger to excellent narration. With a library of over 400 audiobooks, I believe I'm qualified to make this distinction.

Can't get enough.

I listened to this as I've been listening to all Kerrigan Byrne books. Derek Perkins does such a fabulous job of bringing the characters to life. I love his voice.
Why 5 stars? These stories are fun, sexy, slightly gruesome and I don't want them to end.

Absolutely best book ever

Wow just amazing. Three stories about 3 berserker brothers and they’re finding their mates. Kerrigan Byrne is an incredible writer. And Derek Perkins is her compliment to her writing. These stories are so romantically beautiful I can’t say I’ve ever read such descriptive writing. I wish these two would write and read more books. One every year is not enough. So worth every penny spent to read. Thank you Kerrigan-Byrne and Derek Perkins!!!!!

My first 3 novellas of this type of book.

This was the first book I read dealing with the paranormal, it’s typically not my thing, but this had a sweet kind of magic to it. I enjoyed all 3.

Wonderful set!

I have listened to this set many times and love it more each time. Both the stories and the narrator are brilliant. I would recommend to anyone who likes romance, historical themes, and happy endings.
