All Jenna wants is to grace the NYC skyline with a building of her design. But to do it, she must tear down a neighborhood riddled with dangerous criminals who will stop at nothing to claim vengeance.
Sent away from the threat for a week-long tour in the wilds of Colorado, Jenna meets a stranger so intense her desire is equally mixed with fear. Tall, built, and incredibly handsome, he isn't what he seems.
After a mission gone badly wrong, Josh left the SEALs without looking back. Haunted by his past, he hides his identity in order to pick up the pieces. But when he meets the sassy architect, the control he tries so desperately to hang on to, flees.
As their mutual attraction and constant battle of wills sets their bodies aflame, danger once again finds Jenna. Josh must face his past if he ever hopes to bring Jenna out of the wilds alive.

Excellent series beginning. I enjoyed the sexual tension buildup between Jenna and Josh. This book has drama centered on women without making the women pityingly weak creatures. Yes, they are in unfamiliar territory in the woods but they are not weak. It's funny and serious. I love the way the author writes the alpha males. They are flawed but so dependable and HOT.
I never begin a series unless it's finished. I simply don't have patience to wait months. I read the books. Then I got to listen to this audible version. I want the others made into audible. I would so buy them. I did receive this audible book from the author. I freely give my review. I honestly love the story and this audible version.
Narrator was great and only enhanced an already good story.
Nothing was wrong with the narration.
Loved the dynamics of Jenna and Erika's friendship. Witty, snarky dialogue kept me reading.
The book started off a bit slow but picked up about 1/3 in...team of NYC architects sent off on a 'team building' week in the mountains. Their guide is the hot & broody type. Some drama with exes then one of the team is murdered. Survivors scuttle in different directions to stay alive. Cliffhanger!!!
Only real complaint is that the narrator didn't have the range in different voices that could pull you into the story. Some voices were annoying as heck! Still looking forward to the next book though.
I love the characters. They are both strong willed sexual smart witty characters. The power pulling them close even as they fought it. I love reading about military men so strong an sexy. They both have had past that has damaged them. I have to admit when the voice came on saying it was ending I yelled NO not yet. I love this author. the narrator was really good too.
Interesting, funny, smart
I remmember the most how Jenna handled police officer (friend of Josh) when he startet to ask her some questions. How she run thru the woods, to escape for no reason, and how she trettened to come after him, if something happened to her best friend Erika.
This was my first audio book, I loved it. It took me two evennings to complet it. I loved hov she changed her voice for diferent character, I could just imagine those people talking. This was tottaly new experience for mee, but i really liked it.
This was really new expirience for me, the story semed more interesting when I heard it. It was like movie vas playing somevhere in backround, I could imagine everything. I was pleased whit the voice, and it was really good how she changed it in diferent situations.
fun sexy mystery
Josh. Who doesn't favor the sexy one
For the most part I enjoyed this book. The downside, it’s a cliffhanger, yuck. The upside is I have never gone on a camping retreat like this. There is so much in this story. I laughed at the potato cutting. I want a sexy Josh to enjoy camping with. The mystery part is good. There is so much background to the characters that you can’t help getting emotionally involved. I can’t wait for the next book.
This had a very good storyline with a strong female lead. But, like many others (that I try to avoid) it is only part of the book. They leave you with a cliffhanger in hopes you will buy the full version. What irritates me more, it has an audible recording as well that I paid for, but only got 1/2 a book. I feel like I've been cheated.
So, Jenna's co-workers have to go out of town because of problems at work so their boss sends them on a wilderness hike, with our hero as a guide. I'll tell you why I'm not finishing this: Jenna comes along with her boyfriend and once they have their tent up she's on him like flies on shit. Lewis gets his but she doesn't. So she goes into the woods to pee and decides to 'finish herself off.' A perv follows her, Josh goes after the perv then stands there and listens to Jenna moan and groan until she done. Really? That's just stupid, especially since Jenna knows about the perv.
Also, I looked closer at the reviews on Amazon and found out this was a cliffhanger. I don't appreciate an author trying to make me buy a second or third book if I want to reach the end of the story.
At 34% I'm done. Not only with this book but with this author. I can't stand OW or OM so I'd be afraid she writes that in most of her books.
I've already told you about the sex so I'll just let you know the F-bomb was used 19 times.
As to the narrator: Samara Naeymi as very good, with emotions and voices but that couldn't help this book.
That has to be one of the best audio books I've ever heard! Samara Naeymi was totally brilliant! I've only heard one or two others in the same league - one does popular wizard books... Her range due to the number of characters was great. She was consistent, you always knew which character was speaking and the pitch, pace and accents varied wildly. Bravo for the men's voices, they were so distinctive, so original they were in a different league. I absolutely loved Mike, his was so funny it made me laugh nearly every time he spoke.
I will be seeking out other books she has read and I've my fingers and toes crossed that she records the 2nd book.
Err? (Strange question) I can't wait to read/listen to book 2 and I shall continue to enjoy other books by this author.
Hmm again a weird question. This is a great story with many memorable moments. My favourites include getting up close and personal with a snake in the woods, was great - tense, funny, heart warming. Jenna and Erika being overheard while chatting at the BBQ which made me laugh out loud. Oh and any scene where Jenna asserts control over those near her is fun.
Nothing! It was jaw droppingly good.
I loved the story. Honestly I couldn't put it down, I ended up spring cleaning my kitchen so I could listen to it instead of waiting till I got in my car, where I usually listen to audiobooks. The characters were fantastic! Dale being a criminal was genius, so unexpected. I loved Jenna and Josh, my heart went out to both of them. I laughed out loud a fair bit, smiled loads, sighed, swooned and cried. Great pace, perfect tension and not one superfluous scene or word.
Jenna - she is strong & sassy & not afraid to put the men in her life in their place. She is the type of woman many females aspire to be!Josh - the perfect brooding, silent type. Hates that Jenna managed to get under his skin! They are a great team! :)
when Jenna beat up on Jack/Jax - it was unexpected & the poor man never saw it coming! lol
I loved Samara performance - she gave each character a little bit of...character! she let my imagination run wild!
the book did make me giggle in a couple of places, but I was upset...the book ended way too soon. :(
“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”I really enjoyed this book and I really enjoyed Samara's telling of the story...I am looking forward to the next book. :)
