A Little Disappointing

I have a real problem with stories that have the heroine doing something stupid and ending up in bad places over and over. She’s supposed to be intelligent. How does she NOT know what always happens when you go into the basement?!

What a great addition to this series!

We get to see Zoe really become Silver as her becomes more confident in her new life. Silver and Simon’s friendship has really become a vital part of her new life. Its almost like a best friendship.

Silver has started to accept Justus as her guardian. She really begins to trust him but she does resent him a little for keeping her sheltered. But he feels like he is doing it for her own good.

We get to find out who the “benefactor” is, the fella who wants Silver for her light.
A love interest in Logan Cross who isn’t Mage, he is a Chitah.
Their meeting and relationship is one you have to read, I for one never would have seen it coming.

Adam gets a bit of a sore tail but he never fought for that kind of relationship with her. But I think that friendship will be work itself out.

This book really brings clarity to some things I questioned from book one so I am happy I am rereading / listening for the first time.

Again the narration is just perfect for this book, she brings this world to life in a way I don’t think many narrators could have.

Irritating

I'm struggling to finish this book! Zoe/Silver is killing me slowly with her ignorance! Why I'm I so nosey that I just can't put the book down. I feel like I'm punishing myself some how. I'm praying it gets better.

Fantastic World

Any additional comments?

Silver is continuing her training as a learner but isn’t quite ready to give up her past life. Justus and Simon continue their search for the mysterious mage known as “the benefactor.” In TWIST we get to know new characters, but more importantly, we learn more about the characters we have previously met. I am enjoying the balance of suspense, comradery, and romance that Dark delivers.

Dark introduces two new types of Breed. A Chitah and a Wolf Shifter. Logan Cross is the Chitah who has cat-like abilities wth speed, senses, and strength. They are feared by Mage for their ability to kill or paralyze them. Silver’s introduction to Logan is filled with danger and was central to the tale delivered in TWIST. Cross hates Mages, but Silver might just change his opinion. I was impressed at how Dark developed Logan and look forward to learning more about his abilities.

Dark continues to solidify the world she has created, given insight into its history, teaches and hierarchy. Justus, who doesn’t like to be touched, is the perfect teacher for Silver and I devoured the little tidbits about this complex Mage. Adam, his mentor, and Simon are all present. We meet new characters who piqued my curiosity. Dark is assembling a motley crew of characters as they work together on taking down the benefactor. Their interaction from disagreements to teasing banter pulled me into their world.

While there is plenty of suspense and action scenes sprinkled throughout TWIST a developing romance is pushed to the forefront. As a treat, we also see a second romance that develops. These threads held my attention as much as the overall arc and current situation. We also get time to further develop friendships within this group. I absolutely adore Simon. He makes me laugh and Justus intrigues me. I actually thought he might be a romantic interest for Silver but have moved past that.

We see growth in Silver as Dark showcases her strength, compassion, and stubbornness. While she is still a learner she refuses to watch from the sidelines and does a fair job of handling all the testosterone surrounding her.

For me, TWIST, was stronger than STERLING, as Dark had to spend less time establishing the world and focused on the characters and different threads within the Mageri series. Fresh and action packed Dark created a world and characters I am anxious to revisit.

Nicole Poole continues to narrate as she does Dark’s other series. I love both her female and male voices. I love when an author and narrate come together like this and couldn’t imagine the series on audio without her.

This is the start of a beautiful friendship!

The good guys are complicated, the bad guys are power mad, and the world is as fleshed out as any I've read before. And Silver is still trying to find her way through this strange new life. and gain control over her powers -- even as her guardian demands her blind obedience. What's a girl to do?

Logan Cross is an assassin hired to kidnap Silver and take her to her mortal enemy. As a Chitah, Logan is a member of the most feared shifter clan. He has abilities that make him a frightening threat to Silver and her friends, since even powerful mages fear Chitah.

A stone cold killer with motivations that run deep, Logan does what he does for money, and his bone deep hatred for mages only add to his desire to do what he was hired to do.

Fortunately for Silver, Logan thinks before he acts, and he takes his time trying to figure out why he's been hired to take her, and why he feels so drawn to the little mage.

Silver never gives in to her fear. She goes toe to toe with the big killer, using her wit to stall for time as she tries to figure a way out of her current peril. Her courage only makes Logan all the more confused by his reaction.

Their's is a slow, sexy seduction rife with both uncertainty and animal magnetism. Watching their relationship develop forms the heart of this series for the next several books.

This is an astonishingly original love story that is well worth the wait. Will they, or won't they, and when?

Powerful paranormal series!!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Twist to be better than the print version?

Nope, they are both exceptional.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love them all.

Which scene was your favorite?

“Sweet Little Raven, dusted in sugar—I will possess your heart.”

“We may spend a lifetime searching and never find our Chitah kindred. A male knows her on sight. His desire for her becomes an unquenchable thirst, an undeniable need; he will want her just as sure as he draws breath and will lay down his life for her.” Logan sighed. “She does not feel the same pull, so the male must prove himself worthy to her. Nothing comes easy in life. He will always want his kindred, whether she accepts him or not.”

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was a roller-coaster ride. I felt every emotion listed in Old-Webster.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommend this series. It's worth it. 5 *****stars across the board..

Great world building. Great story

I love the voice of the narrator. She does a terrific job of giving each character their own personality. The story is slower paced than the Seven series, but that’s not bad. She really develops the characters as she adds layer upon layer to them. You alternately love and hate each one as you learn more.
I recommend this series and this book.

Weak

I can't stand a possessive male stereotype in books. The story has a lot of good potential but Silver is weak, very weak if she allows Logan to do everything that he does. Returning all of this series that I have purchased.

Really liking this series

For the paranormal romance fancier, this series is turning out to be a treat. Not so much romance, as a romantic teaser. Silver has plenty of men in her life, all special in their own way, all out to protect her from Nero who wants her light. Logan Cross is the new 'man' that forces himself into her life, with unwanted intentions. Silver's life is in jeopardy once again, but the fun of this story begins.
The story line is getting much more interesting with a couple of new characters being introduced, making "Impulse" a must read.

The Beginning of a tangles tale

Dark comes with book two of the Mageri series. In this book she positioned a bunch of through-lines that are sure to lead us through the series. In this book we are left trying to figure who is friend and who is foe. Through it all, silver's personality and irreverence is refreshing. Unlike other novel's heroines, she is not over the top. Rather, Silver represents and unsure character in a new world. We learn a lot in the new world.

Again, this book is long on romance and the setup or romance. Poole does a great job narrating and the story pulls you in. A great second installment.
