Publisher's Summary

Rochelle Marks is working hard to build a name for herself that has nothing to do with her pinup-girl curves. She's made mistakes in the past, and now she's trying to stop her little sister, Stacy, from making worse ones. Rochelle's done with being nothing more than someone's good time. Even if that someone is the one-night stand who turned her life upside down before vanishing - and who's just arrived in Paradise, Idaho, looking to pick up where they left off.

Tech mogul Travis Cochran's hard-won new priorities have brought him to town as a university lecturer, but he's come for something else, too: the smart, sassy, gorgeous woman who's been in his head for months. When Stacy's choices draw her big sister into a web of down-home crime and cold-blooded murder, Travis's mission gets a whole lot more urgent. Now convincing Rochelle to trust him isn't just about winning her back. It may be the only way to keep her alive....

"Loved this book. Not your typical romance."
    Any additional comments?

I liked this book. I am a romance genre fan and it is hard to stand out in the crowd. This one does. There was suspense and the resolution worked for me! I tend to shy away from too much suspense but this book walked the fine line perfectly. It had intrigue romance and humor.
It is third in the series, yet can easily be listened to alone or out of order. A lot of books say you can do that, but with this one it's true.
I don't like it when I am interested in a book, only to realize I need to read a slew of others before I can understand what's happening. Kudos to Ms. James for making that happen with Turn Me Loose.

The story focuses on Rochelle, who is assistant to the Dean of Engineering and Travis, a part time professor and tech mogul. They have a quick, intense encounter in the past and the heat is still apparent when they meet up again. But it is not just about their relationship. It covers a crime ring with a premise that I hadn't even thought of, yet it makes complete sense. Rochelle's sister Stacy has gotten herself into its web and the complexities are intriguing and very entertaining.

The ending was a surprise for me and I loved the relationship development as the characters grow throughout the book and finally reach the dramatic conclusion.

I listen to a lot of audio books and I am in awe of Claire Bocking. Each of her voices is distinct in tone, dialect and cadence. She does what other books would need 3 narrators to accomplish. She could read my bills and I would enjoy them.

It is a great book with outstanding and one I will probably listen to again, which is rare for me.

I received a free copy in return for an honest review. It would have only cost me $1.99 and I wish I had bought it so it wouldn't shade someone's opinion of my honest review.

This one was not as good as the other two- Did not like Claire Blocking at all for this book. I enjoyed her so much in the Australia series but not this one. Some of the scenes in the book were to unbelievable.

"Romance and a little bit of suspense"
Would you consider the audio edition of Turn Me Loose to be better than the print version?

I feel as though both the audio and print versions are amazing. Claire Bocking did bring a wonderful element to the narration of the story and brought the emotions of the book out perfectly.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Turn Me Loose?

I don't want to give away the ending to the book, but of the most memorable moments is in the end when Rochelle helps get the bad guy. She may not have a college education but she's smart and she protects her family and herself.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The elevator scene was great, I feel as though Rochelle and Travis learned a lot about each other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh and cry. Ms. James is an amazing storyteller and Claire Bocking does a wonderful job narrating her stories bringing the characters to life!

    Any additional comments?

This is romantic as well as suspenseful book. The suspense is just right it's not too much and Ms. James brings up yet another important topic that a big concern in our world today. I love how she brings genuine characters to life through her writing and she doesn't shy away from hot topics.

    "Great book, love the characters!"
Would you listen to Turn Me Loose again? Why?

Oh, absolutely. I love the characters and Claire Bocking brings them to life! This is an amazing third book in the Paradise, Idaho series but it stands alone. This book has suspense, drama and and romance. It takes the subject of prescription drug abuse and brings it to light in a very dramatic way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Turn Me Loose?

The elevator scene. I loved that scene, but I won't spoil it by giving too much information!

What about Claire Bocking’s performance did you like?

I loved her performance. The only thing that I didn't like was the pronunciation of Spokane, which she pronounced just like it is spelled and it is actually pronounced by leaving off the e. But, it was pretty easy to overlook that flaw!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh, absolutely yes! This book captured me from the first word. I didn't want it to end!

    Any additional comments?

This is a great book, just like all of the books I have read and/or listened to that were written by Rosalind James. She is an amazing author who keeps improving with every book she releases!

"Life in Paradise is quite a thrill ride"
What made the experience of listening to Turn Me Loose the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed Claire Bocking's reading. She's very talented at making distinct voices and I could listen to her read all day. Also, I really like Rosalind James' chapter format. She doesn't use numbers, but titles each chapter appropriately.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Turn Me Loose?

The most memorable part was the ending where the suspense came in. I'm really glad that even though Rochelle had to work extra hard in her life to make up for her not going to college, she's still smart and she knows it. She figured out who the bad guy is and tried to stop him.

Which character – as performed by Claire Bocking – was your favorite?

I really lliked Travis. James has a way of writing perfectly imperfect male leads. They're great, but they went through a lot of drama and hardship to become that great person. I would definitely take Travis home to meet the folks (if he were real).

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Overall, I really liked the story and most of the dialogue. I'm about the same age as the characters and some of the wording used made me cringey because it sounded a little like an older person trying to talk like a younger person. That and some of the decisions that the main character made (like going to a certain someone's house even though it is dangerous.... and doing it twice) were the only parts I didn't like about the book. Otherwise, it was a great story with great characters and scary bad guys. Romantic suspense is normally a different genre than I'm used to, but I'm really enjoying this series from James and I can't wait for more.

    "Great romantic suspense"

I am a huge Rosalind James fan, and this book did not disappoint. This was my very first audio book of hers though, and I'm so glad I listened. Claire Bocking is a very smooth reader, and I'm pretty picky with my audio readers. I listened to almost half the story in one day while doing yard work. It was such a great distraction.
Turn Me Loose is the 3rd story Rosalind James has set in the small town of Paradise, Idaho. If you are new to Rosalind's books, not to worry, this is a stand-alone. It has a very relatable romance story line. So relatable that a friend recently shared a bicycle date story that was almost identical to Rochelle's experience. Rosalind also brings to light very current hot topics. Rochelle intervenes when her college aged sister is struggling in school and has been partying. She must juggle the dating scene with setting a good example for her sister. Rochelle might be my favorite Rosalind James character so far. She has a wild past but is strong enough to stand against the judgmental colleagues and acquaintances. Travis does his part to allow her to be strong on her own without smothering her. He woos her steadily and with plenty of humor. The other simultaneous story line is the murder of a young woman in their small community. The suspense is just intense enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, but not so much to keep you up at night.
All in all, another winner for Rosalind James!

"I'd Love to Be Turned Loose in Paradise, Idaho"
    Any additional comments?

In Turn Me Loose, Rosalind James has once again written an engrossing book that tells the story of a sweet and hot romance while at the same time delivering a serious message. In this case, Ms. James deftly weaves a story line involving the dangerous increase in abuse of prescription drugs into her book. The book also explores the hopeful message that youthful mistakes don't have to permanently ruin one's life. The importance of honesty is frequently repeated throughout the novel, as are the themes of flexibility when it comes to facing life's challenges (Plan A, Plan B, etc.), and facing challenges head-on. Ms. James is quite adept at bringing depth to her books that ratchet them above a typical romance novel and such is the case in this engrossing read, which I great enjoyed.

Rochelle and Travis are likable lead characters and share a palpable chemistry. Stacy, Rochelle's younger sister, is well written and her character adds necessary depth to Rochelle and the book. Paradise, Idaho and its surrounding area bring so much to the book as to almost be another character. I can picture the area in my mind and would love to visit there.

Claire Bocking does good job with the narration, though I did hear her Australian accent come through now and then, especially with lesser, male characters, and her mispronunciation of Spokane, was a bit distracting.

I read this book in written form before listening to it and, as usual, I found that listening to a book after reading it gave me new insights and also highlighted things I may have buzzed by during my first read.

I recommend this book for lovers of romance, romantic suspense and for fans of Rosalind James. It is a very good book. Four and a half stars.

Rosalind James writes another great romantic, suspense story. Not only does it include the romantic love between two wonderfully portrayed characters (including the steam) but there's also the love of a family that takes care of each other. Throw in a couple of murders and the characters of Paradise and you don't want the story to end. Claire Bocking's narration is superb and she brings all those wonderful characters to life. Another perfect pairing of story and narration - a combination not to be missed.
