Gayle was the beauty who believed that a man could make her life complete. Patricia was the intellectual who thought that rising to the top of her career would make her happy. And then there is Marcus Carter, who has been linked to both Gayle and Pat since the tragedy that occurred when they were all children. Can either one save him from himself? Can friends survive a love that comes between them? Each of them gets what she wants, but no one counts on the price they have to pay.
When they realize that dreams can be hollow and love has its cost, they learn the most important lessons of all: to never give up on the people who love you, and that it isn't just blood that makes two people sisters.

What a story! It seems that everything comes full circle. The books starts a little slowly but takes the reader on an adventurous ride...full of emotion- humorous, frustrating, sad, panic stricken, frightening, joyous, and relieving. Would definitely recommend.
the novel follows the main characters from childhood to mature adult. the deeper into the novel I got the more I enjoyed it. I found myself getting impatient with some of the character's actions and giving them advice. I was surprised at how well researched various aspects of the story were. The novel was a great read and I hated for it to end.
This is an excellent read, the story shows how choices have consequences however life has hope!!!
I am an urban fiction addict!! Wahida Clark books are my fave! I love the Thug Series. I am an avid reader and Audible makes it even better!
Heartwarming, Karma, Drama
I love the friendship between Gail & Pat. All of the story lines were great and relevant to the growth of the characters.
Ramsey! That's all I can say without a spoiler lol.
Yes! When "they" finally admitted they loved each other!!
I really love this book. I read it once when I was a teenager (half my life ago lol) and here I am reading it again, prepping for their new book "Better Than I know Myself". These ladies know how to tell a story. I love "Coming of Age" books, and they get it right. Each character is truly developed with thought and its not too much drama. Just enough. I will probably listen to this one over and over, and over, and......you get the point! lol
