More Rachel Gibson, please!

Great book---Light, sexy and fun! Rachel Gibson does chick lit right---the relationship moves at a believable pace, good banter between the main characters and some steamy sex. The plot is not anything new, but at least it makes sense and isn't cheesy. This book is low on the nonsense and ridiculousness that you see in a lot of chick lit, and I'm not sure when it was published, but it reads more modern than the Linda Howard, Diane Steel types of books. I cringe at some of the lines in those books.

Susan Bennett does a great job with the narration, too. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Hockey has never been this hot...

A good story + a great narrator= an amazing audiobook you'll want to listen over and over again. When Faith Duffy's elderly husband passes away, he leaves her a whole lot of money and a hockey team as well. She was a stripper, turned Playboy bunny, turned trophy wife for the past five years. And she has absolutely no idea how to manage a hockey team. Landon (Faith's stepson who happens to be older than her) is bitter than she got any inheritance at all and will try anything in his power to destroy her. (Something like when Anna Nicole Smith became a widow). Faith hires an assistant and becomes very involved with the team (specially the captain Ty Savage).

The story is believable and interesting. The romance is sweet, hot and intense. My knowledge and interest in hockey was 0 before this book and I ended up enjoying learning about hockey. The story does make references about the game but in an interesting way that was very appropriate for the story. This is a series, and Audible does not have all the books in the series available. This is book 4 of the CHinooks Hockey Team but it can very well be read as a stand alone. Book 5 in the series is Nothing But Trouble which I'll start listening to as soon as I finish this review.

Narration: Susan Bennett did a great job with this audiobook. All of her character voices were distinct and boy oh boy she can make a steamy scene sound sizzling hot!!! There are several steamy scenes in the book and she does such a convincing portrayal of both characters that it was like she was there. I can only imagine the sound engineer who was there with her while recording uff...

I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy a good contemporary romance story with interesting and likable characters, steamy romance and great narration.

Loved it!

If I could have given this 10 stars I would. I loved the story, well written, not sappy or stupid. Sexy and steamy and the chemistry between the two main characters is incredible. I hope Audible will release more books by Rachel Gibson. I've listened to all 3 and she is quickly becoming my favorite. Susan Bennett is an excellent narrator. This book is a win-win.

Canucks NOT canooks!!!

this story has a lot of female drama in it. A good deal of explicit sex and sex talk. and the narrator does not know how Canadians use "eh". She also mispronounced the name of the Vancouver Canucks. It rhymes with luck, shuck, huck, muck etc. It does not rhyme with crook. Also Canadians add "eh" to the last word in the sentence, no pause. for ex. "It's been a good runeh?" or "come in out of the coldeh?" turning the sentence into a question. NO PAUSE!!! other than getting unreasonably irritated at that, the book was okay. Story a bit weak, it's a typical romance. If that is what you are looking for that's what you are getting.

Loved it.

This is my first time listening to a Rachel Gibson book. I loved it. Thought the narrater did a good job. I hope audible releases any more of Rachel's books that are available on audio, especially the rest of this series (Chinook's Hockey Team).

This was a fun story!

I loved this! It was a fun story. Faith, a good-hearted former stripper inherits a hockey team from her late rich husband. Ty Savage, the team captain, isn't happy about it. The friction, tension and attraction between the two eventually leads to true love. This was an easy listen, and the humor and character profiles were great. I don't know why, but I could not stop picturing Cameron Diaz and Channing Tatum in these roles, which made it even that much more fun. It would make a great movie someday... (grin).

Fabulous!

I love all of Rachel Gibson's books, I just don't understand why all of them aren't available on audio. If you want a fun, witty, sexy read/listen - I highly recommend this book and all others by Rachel Gibson.

Start with this one for Hockey team

Would you listen to True Love and Other Disasters again? Why?

yes, a good listen due to a good editor. At first, I thought Susan E. Phillips take off, but after listening to this and Nothing but trouble, I know a good writer when I hear it. R.G. has the right stuff. S.E.P stuff is different as I have most all of her books. (sep, latest are just not good enough for me to buy). So yes, after an hour you realize that the outline has many similarities, of It Had to be YOU, but both are a great listen and lots of fun. Who doesn't want more fun?

What was one of the most memorable moments of True Love and Other Disasters?

when our hero is sitting in the locker room for the photo shoot, and our heroine places her foot on the bench.

Have you listened to any of Susan Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

this is a first listen for S.B and she does an excellent job. She has the pace and tone just right. Yes, she could have a deeper male voice, but the tone and pace made up for the lack of a deeper male voice. This is so tricky for so many women readers. Natalie Ross has one of the best male voices as does Gabra Zackman and some Karen White

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

yes, when our hero reviews our heroines assets from the magazine

Any additional comments?

I wanted some humor and ended up buying many of R.G. books all at once. So far, I have not been disappointed. Humor makes the medicine of life much easier.

Fresh, fun, and sexy!

There is always something charming and intriguing in sports romance. I am HOOKED ! My first book for Rachel was Sam's story in this series. It was good and it made me want to buy the rest of the books in the series. So I bought this as a second book. You do not need to listen to them in order. And this book was SOOOOO GOOOD, I liked it more that I liked Sam's story. It is not a new concept of a story, but it was so well written , funny , witty and sexy. And the narration was so good ! My new addiction .... sports romance ;) love those hockey players ;) buy it and enjoy :)

good book

This is a great idea for a book, well written, good narrator. BUT.... I really take offence to the Canadian hockey player saying "EH" all the time. I am CANADIAN!! And I have yet to met another Canadian that says EH. This is such an insulting thing to put in a book.
