What the Critics Say

"Roberts paints her story with a broad brush, but its colorful canvas, easily identifiable heroes and villains and swirling action add up to another winner for this popular author." (Publishers Weekly)

    "A 6-star listen"

Wish I could give this one 6 stars. The story has lots of twists and turns, some sexy stuff, the dialogue between the H/h is smart and funny plus the narration is excellent.

    "Bad narrator!"
    Any additional comments?

The story was OK at the beginning, but got boring about 3/4 of the way through. There was too much about the ins and outs of horse racing, but I could have finished the story if it wasn't for the narrator. Not only was her voice annoying, but she kept pronouncing words incorrectly. She kept saying "show-der" instead of shoulder and "so-ger" for soldier. There were other words she got wrong as well, which distracted from the story. I found myself constantly wanting to correct her. I would recommend reading this book yourself, instead of listening to the audiobook.

Initially, I thought I'd chosen a dud. It took a little while to get into the story, but it did ultimately engage me and overall, I enjoyed it.

    "Eh"

I generally love Nora Roberts' books, but I couldn't wait for this one to get over. I enjoyed learning about horse racing and their owners, but never really invested in the characters. The narrator used a high pitched 'girly' voice for the main character that was especially grating. I like Nora's strong women-- this one came off as stupid and weak in comparison.

    "so boring"
What disappointed you about True Betrayals?

I can't get past the monotone narration to get into the story

What was most disappointing about Nora Roberts’s story?

Very very slow starting, I'm stopped an hour in out of boredom

How could the performance have been better?

Put some life in, some passion...

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I couldn't find any, but I can't get past the first hour...

    "Great Book--Great Narrator"

This is a wonderful book--loved the story. The narrator does a great job with all the voices. Recommend both Roberts & Shansky--anytime, anywhere.

    "Very nice in depth book"
Where does True Betrayals rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one sits as a mid list book for me. I will listen to it again but not over and over again like I do with other books.

    Any additional comments?

Overall a very good book! Classic Nora Roberts romance with alot of depth and little mystery! Nice and long too!

What made the experience of listening to True Betrayals the most enjoyable?

Just as it say's True Betrayals, which was a lot of them

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gabe, He seemed so Loveable and protective of Kelsey

    Which scene was your favorite?

Sound's cruel, but when Gabe's father was shot...he deserved it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, alway's when Gabe and Kelsey were together, seemed like they were meant for each other, and when he came to her rescue and took a blow from the horse to save her...

    Any additional comments?

Loved the horse racing also, but not some of the thing's that were done to the horses...
