Publisher's summary

Jeanie loves a New Species and is willing to pay for that love with pain, tears, and heartbreak. She’ll do anything to keep 710 alive but she never wants him to know how she suffered for him. He’s the reason for her mission in life - freeing others like him.

True has a new life working with the NSO to rescue his people. A good life, until he encounters a dying woman - the female who betrayed him. True should feel gratified that she’s finally going to pay for her crimes, but she claims to be a victim, too. He is still irresistibly drawn to the pretty little human who touched his heart and made him want her. When he clasps her hand to offer comfort, his instincts kick in and True will fight everyone to protect her.

A Romantica paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave.

Excellent Book. One of my favorite New Species.

I love the following New Species books; Fury, Valient, Justice, Wrath, Tiger, Shadow, True, Darkness, Smiley and both Numbers books. Slade, Brawn and Moon where good but not great and I had a hard time with Obsidian. My absolute favorites are Valient, Wrath and Tiger.

True Love!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💚💜💖
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 🤓😉🤨😊😎
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Jeanie - she worked in a research facility even after Mercile Industries went down. She fell for one of the research subjects, #710 and one of her vicious coworkers named Dean found out her secret. She was forced to watch #710 be tortured in front of her and couldn’t do anything to stop it without endangering both herself and him even more. She knew her bosses were pure evil and knew that the test subjects were in hell. They were testing new drugs that enhanced healing, and to do that, the guards would severely wound the subjects over and over.

The Story: Lab technicians that disliked how things were run at Jeanne’s facility often disappeared without a trace. Jeanne was secretly trying to get her lab shut down. She had smuggled out evidence and knew if she was caught, the test subjects would be in worse shape. However, when Dean planned to use 710 to test a new drug which would make other subjects feral and hunt him to death, she knew she had to do something. When Dean promised to keep him alive in exchange for her participation in experiments on a new drug that caused excruciating pain.

The Hero: True (a.k.a. 710) - He had fallen for the technician Jeanie while he was in the research facility. He always fought against the technicians and guards. When Dean came to him one day, he tried to get 710 to agree to breed with Jeanie in exchange for him no longer attacking the guards. However, True wouldn’t agree as he knew the breeding drug would make him feral and he might harm Jeanie and Dean told 710 Jeanie was the one perfecting the drug. 710 thought she had betrayed him.

Jeanie had helped set up the rescue at the facility and a year later she was at another facility where she set up another rescue. By this time, True was on the task force which rescued New Species from new facilities they found. He finds Jeanie hurt in the facility and makes sure she gets help. Though he wants to be there for her interrogation.

The story was really good but there were quite a few plot holes that I was hoping to be filled. Especially when it came to the prison where the people that get caught at the research facilities are sent. I don’t want to go into the specific plot holes as it would give away too much of the story, but there were questions I wanted answers to and none of the characters asked those questions, when it seemed obvious to me. Though despite the plot holes, this was one of my favorites so far.

This book is told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Vanessa Chambers. Vanessa’s voice is soft and feminine. She is awesome at doing different voices for different characters and I have been binging this series for nearly a week now and haven’t gotten sick of her narration yet. I plan to go right through the rest of the series as well.

4 True Stars

As much as I liked this book I did feel it dragged just a little bit.

I liked the fact that it was the NSO against the humans in a way and that they wanted to police themselves.
There was a lot of action in this book; I really dug that like a lot! I again like that Jeanie worked with New Species even if they thought she was the bad guy.

I think True and Jeanie were perfect for each other his protection of her was so sweet. I wasn't a big fan of Tim O'Bearto in this book but I get where he was coming from totally. But I didn't have to like it.

Let’s see Jeanie was cunning and a forward thinker I enjoyed that she wasn't a weak character at all she didn't just let things go. She fought; she really was the right mate for True.

Again I am going to gush I love the narrator!! She does such a good job I am beyond happy <3
Credit worthy heck yes!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Enjoyed True's Story

Would you listen to True again? Why?

Yes, I'm sure I'll listen to it again. I've re-listened to my favorite Species books several times.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Did listen to entire book in one sitting. Couldn't stop listening, had to know how it ended.

Any additional comments?

Liked how previous story tied into this one. Different story than some of the earlier stories, which was nice.
Fury and Valiant are still my favorites, but I did really enjoy this book.

Really enjoyed the story

This is a favorite series of mine. Laurann Dohner writes from dual point of view, is funny, has a great core group of characters and continuing storyline. Vanessa Chamber does a great job with the narration.

Really good one!

I like the plot twists in this installment of New Species. You just don’t expect some of the surprises. Oh, and i laughed out loud at some of the dialogue. As always, there’s tons of steamy sex. It beats me how Dohner can go on and on and never use the same description twice.
I like Jeannie Shriver a LOT, she’s got lots of moxie without being too aggressive and she’s smart and loving.
True is a little uncertain about her right at the beginning but once he realizes he loves her, that’s it, he’s totally committed. He’s a super protective mate.
I’m one of those who prefers a guy with a deep sexy voice read the good parts but the narrator who reads this series is a woman and I have to admit that she’s damned good. You can always easily tell who’s speaking.
New Species is my favorite series. I do have my favorites but you’ve simply got to read them all in order to get to know the characters and to enjoy them.

Too much repeating previous story lines

It was decent after you pass repeating base story of new species and mercile

Top of my fav NS series

This book may very well be my fav NS book. It also depends what I’m in the mood for. This book has some serious plot twists,The romance begins while he is still a prisoner and she is a lab tech. She ends up mixed up in a plot to free the NS that are trapped in the facility where she worked. I really enjoyed how they were brought together. It’s very steamy and I love how LD writes her steam. Do not hesitate, this book is so worth it!!!
