Sometimes you can't help falling in love, even when you try to do the opposite...
Successful fashion blogger McKenna Bell has spent far too long protecting herself after the way her ex-fiancé left her at the altar for a college chick he met the night of his bachelor party. Loving again, trusting again, well, that's just not in the cards. Especially now that her ex is back in town with his new woman, demanding custody of McKenna's favorite creature in the whole world - her dog. No effing way. McKenna's had enough of him, and she decides to even the score by finding her own hot young thing - a Trophy Husband. Sure, she's only twenty-seven, but doesn't that make it even more fun - and infuriating to her ex - to pursue a younger man? When she declares her intentions on her daily blog, her quest quickly skyrockets in popularity, and that's when Chris enters the picture, and he's got all the assets. He's handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star. But loving again could mean losing again, and it's so much easier to focus on getting even, isn't it? Unless, you just can't help falling in love. Which means McKenna will have to come face to face with what she really wants in life - protecting her heart from hurt, or letting go of her fears of a new beginning.

Trophy Husband is a sweet, funny romantic book about hurt, betrayal, revenge and finally healing and finding love that you didn't think existed again. McKenna was hurt deeply when her fiancée left her the day before their wedding and eloped to Vegas with a young bimbo from his bachelor party. McKenna comes up with a plan to play the same game that men do and find herself a young "trophy husband". She has this contest on her blog to have the audience help her pick the perfect trophy husband. As you read this book you'll find out that her game isn't as easy as she thinks and she just may fall hard!
The narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life. I enjoyed her fun voice and the entraining story line.
I really like when McKenna went on a date with the meter guy .That was hilarious.
McKenna. She did a great job with the lead.
I listened to it while working out. I made everything better.
I will be buying more of this author's audio books.
The whole thing! I love the story, the characters and listening to them really made it come alive and come together. It's great to hear the story told with all the emphasis and inflections that author intended.
Chris. He's sweet, funny and sexy. His determination to win over McKenna and stop her from making a mistake was alpha and endearing.
At the cafe/restaurant, when they are bantering about Green Eggs and Ham. It was funny, but also very real. I like the playful tone and the obvious chemistry between the characters.
Yes. I could tell you, but SPOILERS. So let's just say that the ending was wonderful. It was an excellent conclusion to a fun book and my romantic heart swelled and swoon and sighed (and all that good stuff).
I love Lauren Blakely's books - all of them. Trophy Husband is an excellent book - and once again, I enjoyed the way it inter-connected with the other works in her series. It's a special treat for readers to be able to notice little hints about other Blakely characters. I would recommend not just this book, but all of her works. They are fun, upbeat, sexy stories with loveable characters that you just want to be friends with.
Lauren Blakely is an amazing author. I have truly enjoyed each one of her books that I have read or listened to. Her writing is what made this audible experience the most enjoyable!
I have not, but she did very well. I will listen to more of her in the future.
Very high up there. I absolutely adore this story, and hearing it read makes it even more enjoyable. There's just something about hearing a book read that makes it even more engaging.
Any of Lauren Blakely's other stories, especially the Caught Up In Us series. They're truly romance with a bit of naughty, and great characters, the type that you'd want to hang out with yourself.
She got McKenna perfectly. When I read 'Trophy Husband' and 'heard' McKenna's voice in my head, it sounded remarkably close to how Samara depicted her. Inflection, tone, everything, just spot-on.
Yes. Sadly, time was not on my side to allow this. On the bright side, I got to enjoy the experience for even longer. :-)
I highly recommend any of Lauren's books on audio. They're a great way to bring the story even more alive.
One of my favorites!
The witty banter between the characters was amazing. I laughed the entire time.
I loved this book! These characters are funny and sexy and very believable. I loved the chemistry and the witty banter.
I could easily picture it as a movie that I would love to watch.
MeKenna was so fun and peppy I love her message, her curves, style, and personality.
Her voice easily matched the personality that they writer created.
This book made me laugh but it was also hot.
Yes. It involves a not so typical and yet typical idea of romance that just hooks anyone.
Yes, it made me roll my eyes, touched my heart, and had me rooting for the idea of self discovery and healing along with the romance. Her characters are flawed in big ways (or at least the main one is) , but that makes them all the more believable.
The emotional tie between McKenna and her struggle.
No, the conclusion is too set and locked down.
So picked up this title for $3+, not a bad listen for the price.
Enjoyed the narrator and had a few chuckles.
Like me, you'll be screaming in your head on what McKenna should do towards the end...
"Sass, Witt, romance....it had it all...."
Overall a Great performance from the narrator, i thought she suited the character and I enjoyed listening to her.
I had a great time as it was lauren's style of sass, witty, hot totty, with some great lol moments.
Determined to nab herself a trophy husband after her jerk of an ex fiance jilted her, for yes.... a trophy wife. Mckenna a great and successful blogger announces the search on her blog and well..... Why the hell not i say!! Damn. Many a smile on my face and oohing and ahh moments listening in the car as dates and the search unfolds......
Chris, a Gamer who she bumps into, as her search gets going is drool worthy, but he is successful. Does that rule him out? Had some full on romantic butterflies going on, the type you get from a good easy chic lit read you know what i mean? Made me feel good..... made me smile.
Oh.... and that ex, how very dare he do what he tried to!!!!!! Lauren nearly had me emailing her in protest!
