Rook Walsh is tragic. Because life so far - just sucks. Some girls get parents. Rook got the foster care system. Some girls get Prince Charming. Rook got an abusive frog. Some girls get lucky.… Rook got a second chance. And she took it. Because when fate throws you a bone - you grab it with both hands and run.
Antoine Chaput knows the minute he spies Rook in his photography studio that she's got "The Look". The dark and desperate look he must have to land the exclusive Tragic Media contract.
Rook is paired up with top model Ronin, and he's everything her abusive ex-boyfriend wasn't. Patient, gentle, happy, attentive, and sexy! He knows exactly what to do to make Rook blush for Antoine's camera.
Rook's luck changes in an instant and suddenly she's the darling of the modeling world. It's a dream job to go with a dream guy and all she has to do is look pretty and follow directions. But there's always a price to pay - and Rook is about to get the bill.

I'm proud to be a bookaholic...addicted, obsessed, passionate!!! My favorite way to relax & escape reality....
Looking for something refreshing, sexy, a bit different? This book caught me off guard and I loved it! I had no idea what to expect. Tragic was original and well written story. It's a satisfying, fast yet well-paced New Adult Romance. I unexpectedly came across the book and completely devoured it in one sitting. If you love the NA genre then this is one you do not want to miss out! It had all the qualities I enjoy.... great characters, engaging story, lots of sexual chemistry! This story is told in alternating povs of Rook Walsh and Ronin Flynn, which I truly adore. Rook is a former foster care child who has escaped from a controlling abusive relationship. She is currently living in a shelter and recently finds herself unemployed. She gets a lucky break when she spends her last $10 at Starbucks. This chance encounter has fate leading her to photographer Antoine and his upcoming TRAGIC campaign. When the famous erotic photographer, Antoine Chaput, sees Rook he knows right away he wants her to pose for his TRAGIC photo shoot. She lands the role that turns her life around for the better despite finding herself out of her comfort zone and modeling exotic shoots with charming Ronin. Ronin Flynn is a model but also takes care/manages the girls and he’s decided he wants to take care of Rook. Ronin and Rook are paired together to do the TRAGIC shoot. Rook isn’t used to the modeling world, she doesn’t really know what she is doing, but Ronin helps her. He takes care of her, protects her. The playful bantering & flirting between Rook and Ronin is delivered in an almost exhibitionist style. Rook and Ronin’s chemistry explodes both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Rook and Ronin's sexual chemistry was off the charts HOT. Their photo sessions together were panty melting. I admired Rook for many reasons. .. from her courage to leave a controlling, abusive relationship to her determination to succeed, to be independent and rely solely on herself. This book had a great story line, awesome characters, and sexy scenes. It was different, it was raw, it was real, it was HOT, it was heart-breaking, it was sweet, it was funny! The story pulled me into the world of Erotic photography and all that comes with it. I can’t wait for Rook and Ronin’s story to continue and look forward to more books by JA Huss. TRAGIC was a very spicy hot book, especially when they were shooting any photo scenes between Rook and Ronin. The sexual tension between them was amazingly perfect!
This book was a pleasant surprise. The characters were engaging, funny at times, but most of all real. The backstory of both main characters though definitely TRADGIC, was also Intriguing and not at all out of place with the story as so many books come across. The romance is also real, not just cheesy chemistry and sex. The chemistry between Rook and Ronin manages to be hot while at the same time not exaggerated by explicit sex. J. A. Huss's writing is superb. Both narators did a fantastic job. Definitely worth a credit. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
This book ranked VERY high - loved it
I LOVED reading this book & even more - I loved listening to it.
JA Huss is a fantastic story teller!
Crazy red head who's head over heels about family, friends and life in general!
This was a light read that I enjoyed very much. The story was quite creative and finally someone came up with a unique life situation. Rook is herself quite a Tragic story. Girl on the streets in desperate need of a break that comes in the form of an erotic photo agency. Ronin becomes her partner, protector and helps Rook build herself back up after being beaten down by life. I found the story erotic but not nasty, sweet with a bit of grit. The secondary characters are interesting and well developed and hopefully we'll get to know them better in the next book It's not super long so I was able to listen in one day while I cleaned house. Looking for a New Adult Romance? Try peeking into Rook and Ronin's life, I think you'll find it quite interesting....
Yes I would listen again. It never lost my interest.
I liked that the storyline was fresh to me. I've never read this particular plot.
I loved this book. The setting is one I've never read before. The characters are perfect mixes, not too bad and not too good. It kept my attention the entire time. I'm really looking forward to starting the next one. I don't know why I waited so long to read this series.

Tragic is one of my favorite Huss stories, and it was a treat to listen to the audio – the narrators brought the characters to life perfectly!
At the beginning of listening to Tragic, I had a little trouble with the male narrator, especially because his French accent didn’t sound French at all, but also because he made a very squeaky voice when he was sharing something Rook said, but from Ronin’s point of view. The female narrator nailed it, though, and most of the chapters were from Rook’s perspective, so I was completely gone in the story very quickly.
I read the whole Rook and Ronin series a while ago, and listening to Tragic brought some things to my attention that I hadn’t noticed when I read it myself. First of all, I thought Rook seemed much more fragile and vulnerable than she did when I read about her. And that brought another layer both to this story, and what I know will come later on in the series.
As get more used to listening to audiobooks, I also want more and more of them to listen to! I know the rest of the Rook and Ronin series will be released in audio at a later time, and I can’t wait. Huss has such skills when it comes to telling stories, and her characters are always incredibly flawed, which somehow makes me love them even more! Having narrators tell me the stories just brings out another level of enjoyment for me.
