Lori Foster’s steamy romances have earned her a place on the New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists. Trace of Fever stars Trace Rivers, a private mercenary looking for vengeance after his sister’s kidnapping. Trace has targeted human trafficker Murray Coburn as the man responsible, but his plans for payback get complicated when Coburn’s beautiful daughter turns up.

He makes a good story absolutely great. His narrating is sexy and masculine and just perfect for these types of stories. What a surprise to find him reading this new series... instead of one of the boring women that have read Lori Fosters other books. Please keep them coming..... I cant get enough of his wonderful style. Discovered him from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
When I clean, drive or exercise I listen to romance. The steamier the better but it must have a great story as well!
I decided to get this during a sale, but it was the hypnotizing voice of Jim Frangione that was the real pull. When I first heard his reading of the JR. Wards "The Black Dagger Brotherhood" I was a little disappointed. However, the more you listen to him the more addicted you become. Now I can't imagine not loving anything he read, even the newspaper! This novel is amazing on it's own, Lori does not disappoint. These men are true men, the kind that will do anything to save a lady or kill the bad guy. They are full of attitude yet kind and gentle all at the same time. My husband listened to a little and just laughed, he said,"guys don't really talk like that." I just smiled back and said,"well, maybe if they did they could get the rewards like these men do!" He listened for more tips after that. :)
I loved the hero but the heroine was so bad! I think the author wanted her to be tough but she just turned out hateful and bi-polar. One minute she's mad and hateful and then the next she's jumping the guy! I rolled my eyes way too many times.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
I must have missed something in the book because I thought the book was so boring.
It's never good when you get to the end of a book and think "Thank God that's over!" It took me a long time to slog through it. I have enjoyed Ms. Foster's contemporaries but I personally do not at all like her attempts at romantic suspense.
This was a revenge story. The heroine was out for revenge on the bad guy for something that did not really need revenge. She was going to kill the man who had kidnapped, raped and shared her mother. I realize that's a bad thing but...Her mother had kept her off the grid her whole life to keep her away from the bad man. (A man who didn't remember or care anything about the woman or what happened to her.) So the first thing you do after that upbringing is go straight to the bad guy to kill him? "I had a sucky upbringing so I'm going to go kill some man who may or may not be my father?" Is it that easy for a normal person to decide to go and murder someone? Didn't buy it at all. Maybe if the mother had pounded into the daughter that "it is your destiny to revenge me!" But the mother had been trying to protect her for the whole of her life. I wonder why the mother even admitted who the bad guy was in that case. She had no training and only a lame ass plan involving some strange cartoon weapons.
The hero was some sort of mercenary who was undercover to bring down the bad guy's white slavery operation. His sister had been kidnapped in an earlier book so at least he had a valid reason to be working against this. And he had training. But... he was the most trusted henchman of the bad guy after being there 3 weeks? Yeah...nope.
The whole thing took place in about 3 days and the heroine managed to be too stupid to live throughout most of it. And the hero just kept admiring her gumption every time she did exactly the opposite of what he asked her to do to keep her safe.
The characterisation was weak. The only part I really enjoyed was when one of the other good guy operatives had to rescue the heroine while she was naked in the shower
The only good part of the book was the narrator Jim Frangione he was great with the delivery of the story.
Say something about yourself!
The characters' names sound the same and are very distracting. The narrator did the best he could with Trace, Pris, Chris and Alice but I constantly found myself saying,
Like his performances in Black Dagger Brotherhood, and although he did a fine job with this book, the story is weak.
Another author's re-write.
I read the first book, When you Dare. It was the first I had heard of Lori Foster, now I listen to everything she writes, but especially like the "Men who walk the edge of honor" series.
Don't waste your time, money or credits. Nothing in this book worked for me, well that's not true. Had it not been for Jim Frangione I doubt I could have made it through this train wreck.
If you like the gorgeous, super tough guy falling hard for the beautiful, smart, sexy woman; with a little plot and danger to space out the sex; then you'll love this one. The tough guy with a well hidden devotion for the very few people he loves, and the girl who can deal with any situation (except resisting him) play the yoyo game between mindless need and rebelling against themselves and each other. Lori always delivers good foreplay and some interesting twists to keep you going.
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
Wow soooo good. Trace is all Hot intense male. Jim Frangione narration surrounds and consumes you. Lori Foster has once again grabbed my attention, hauled me into the story and didn't let me go till the very end. I feel totally satisfied in every way. Not one to let a good thing go i have purchased the next book in the series and i'm sure it will be as captivating as the last 2. What an excellent ride. :)
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
The storyline was interesting and kept my attention, I loved Pris's strength and loyalty to her mom. There was some humor in this book along with some suspense. I still love Jackson's story the best and wish I would have listened to them in order....
The series is pretty much the same...big handsome hunks fighting the bad guys and find their beautiful loves along the way...
Although I do like the narrator, I picture these guys a lot sexier than his voice portrays.....
Fighting the bad guys and finding love along the way......
Try and read them in order....this book should have been listened to before Jackson's story.
