Compelling Regency Mystery (Short Story)

Any additional comments?

For a short story, this audiobook was outstanding. It actually felt more like a complete story, with well developed characters, a mystery to solve, and a villain. The 27-year old Earl of Edgerton is home visiting his country estate (away from London's fun and frivolity) due to the estate's loss of substantial money in the year since his father's death. As his eyes glaze over looking at the estate's accounting records, the Earl's best friend and neighbor suggests that his bookish sister Miranda look over the estate's ledgers. After all, she's been balancing their estate's accounts for years now. After only one afternoon looking over the books, mysterious accidents start to happen to her or surrounding her. Although I guessed who the villain was from almost the beginning, I really liked the way the author let us know how the hero was feeling - his anxieties and his fears. I also appreciated the descriptions showing how the Earl's affection for Miranda matured. And Hollis McCarthy did a great job narrating. Brava!

The way a 'novella' should be!

Well written... very well. Full of details, real characters so well written you get to know them, a plot deep enough to grab you, and a whodunit easy enough to guess but with enough of a sneak to it to intrigue, and just the right tinge of humor. All the things a good long read should have but skillfully packaged in a smaller box.

NARRATOR : Not a single complaint from me!!! A+ all the way.

CREDITWORTHY? If you're foolish enough not to realize the cost of this book is far less than the credit then go for it... it's still worth it.
I DO recommend buying it, a 100% YES!!!

HEAT FACTOR: C'mon, this tale has everything else!!!! What do you want in a NOVELLA?! I felt emotion and attraction but no, no heat.

Stretches it for claiming to be a sweet read

This is a short read, or in my case listen. The characters were fun though I struggled a little liking the male love interest.

This is NOT a sweet read. The story fits the description of *sweet* until the end when it advanced from kisses with tongues (stretching it for me for a sweet read) to boob feels which are definitely not a sweet read for me.

If that doesn't bother you, then you'll likely enjoy it. The narrator did a great job.
