From the number one Kindle best-selling author of A Modern Witch comes modern romance with a touch of magic.
Nell Sullivan is fiery, easily distracted by cookies, and doomed to wear the peach monstrosity at her best friend's wedding.
And she's a witch.
Daniel Walker is a former baseball player turned bored hacker looking for a challenge. Hacking Nell's online gaming world is going to get him a lot more than he bargained for.
A prophecy says they will make babies together - but when it comes to the love life of a modern witch and a hacker, prophecy might not get a vote.

I think of it as two separate things I prefer audio for conveinance but collect hard copies because of my love of books
As with all of the books in the series, the strength of love & family is so strong it's hard to pick one part!
Yes she's great! Character voices are consistent from book to book it's like talking with family, Nell sounds like Nell Jamie like Jamie etc in every book
The is such a great series! It's loving, positive, encouraging, I love these witches! Debora Geary is a talented author, you "feel" her writing, not all authors can do that consistantly, she does
This book fills in the story of how Nell and Daniel met before The Modern Witch series starts. Funny, interesting, sad in places. Provides more information on Nell's parents as well. I can't say enough about Deborah Geary as an author. I devour her books and reread and re-listen to them many multiples of times. Excellent feel good stories with lots of depth as well. Martha Harmon Pardee is the perfect narrator for this series.
It's so lovely to listen to Nell's story. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer and included the story of the children's births, but I am sure that could be another book at some time.
A bit tame compared to my usual romance tastes but you hardly notice it as the storyline is so interesting that it keeps you engaged and there with the families.
I can't wait for more of these stories to be released in Audio!!
This is the story of how Nell and Daniel met, the parents of the children in The Modern Witch series. Nell is a witch and Daniel is a hacker. It's a nice easy listen, perfect to give your brain a rest in between more complicated books.
I haven't read the print version, so I can't say whether it's better or not. I don't have a great deal of time to sit down to read a book for fun, but I love audiobooks. I drive several hundred miles a week for my work and audiobooks are an absolute pleasure when I'm on the road. It's an opportunity to "read" for fun (aka non technical books) without the guilt that I should be reading professional literature.
Nell is a complex character. She's smart and funny and very loyal to her family and friends.
I like it that she's able to stand her ground with her brothers and is not afraid to get her hands dirty.
She has a pleasant voice and does a good job with the different characters.
The scene at the wedding where Nell is working so hard to be a supportive bridesmaid while her heart is aching over losing her friend to marriage and Texas. The interaction between Nell and Daniel was exceptionally well written and well presented by Ms. Pardee.
I have the audiobooks for all three of the Modern Witch books and am eagerly awaiting the next installments. The stories mesh well, although each book could stand alone too. I love this family and their friends and wish they were my neighbors. Debora Geary writes wonderful stories with just the right mix of romance without overdoing the "bump and grind" that is sometimes a little too much in some modern romance novels. Sometimes, my husband listens in with my audiobooks, and "soft porn" would be a little embarrassing. This is NOT what Debora Geary writes. Her books are funny and romantic and not R-rated. Thanks so much for that!
This book, as a part of a much larger series, is filled with deep characters that are so real they could step off the page. However, my favorite thing with each book in this series is the deep feeling of joy and contentment I feel during and after I read them. Thank you Debora Geary. I own all the books you have written thus far and will continue to buy them all both in Kindle and Audible formats.
This book is the prequel to the rest of the series. It is interesting to get to know some of the characters in their younger days.
Yes, Ms. Harmon-Pardee's voice pulls you into the story and the characters.
It gave the 'pre-history' of one of the central characters (Nell) in the Witch Central books, but it was more of a boy-meets-girl plot than a magical story.
Just as good as other of her books that I've listened to. She is very good with changing (and maintaining) the different voices in the book.
Important information about how Witch Central got it's start. It is a needed book, to 'flesh-out' the characters in the other books, so I would recommend it. But it doesn't have the same 'magic' and fun plot-line as Debora Geary's other books.
I like Science Fiction, Post Apocalypse, mysteries, and good romance. If you can mix it all in together, I am one happy camper.
I would definitely read another book by Debora Geary, but Martha Harmon Pardee is the most annoying narrator I've heard in ages.
This is a cute adorable, fluffy romantic story about a fire witch and a hacker. I love the character development, and really am rooting for them. The story makes me feel sappy and romantic, exactly what I wanted.
Absolutely not. Her dramatic pauses were bizarre and confusing. She has pauses that make you think there is a change in scene until you realize it wasn't. She attempts to give some kind of feeling performance that is pretentious and completely inappropriate for the genre of the story. Everything is muted and "understated" and really really annoying. I would honestly have to avoid a book read by this Narrator, even if I loved the author.
No, but it would be a fun book to read.
Keep the author, skip the narrator.
yes, because this book is great....
I like how nell and Daniel got together
there is not just one scene. I can't choose. Its just a good read
Yes! And I have many times!!! I just love these stories!! I listen to all of them over and over again.
This was a great story to learn about Nell and her family. In the Modern Witch series, her family is already established. With this you really get to know "her" and Jamie and her mother.
I love them all!
I continue to be mystified by folks that say they don't like Martha Pardee's reading of this series. I could not image the folks in these stories "sounding" any other way. If readers were switched, I'd be very sad. I think Martha does a Fantastic job!
