Publisher's summary

For all the bodies she's encountering, you'd think beat cop Joanne Walker works in Homicide. But no, Joanne's a reluctant shaman who last saved mankind three months ago; surely she deserves more of a break! Yet, incredibly, "Armageddon, Take Two" is mere days away.

There's not a minute to waste. But when her spirit guide inexplicably disappears, Joanne needs help from other sources. Especially after she accidentally unleashes Lower World demons on Seattle. Damn. With the mother of all showdowns gathering force, it's the worst possible moment for Joanne to realize she should have learned more about controlling her powers.

Where's Christine Carroll

Like Urban Shaman, this is a fun read with undertones of thoughtfulness. Unlike Urban Shaman, the narrator does nothing for the story (hence only 3 stars instead of 4). Christine Carroll (who read the first in the series) hit just the right mix of wry humour and emotion, whereas Gabra Zachman is entirely too laconic and urban-cynical and the story suffers because of it.

Okay. Not as good as Urban Shaman

I really enjoyed the 1st book in this series esp. with the original narrator. This narrator isn't bad, but I thought the 1st one was exceptional. The story is okay but drags on and on during the middle. I would have liked more plot and less "trips to the lower world". I also would have liked more about the growing relationship she has with her boss, Morrison. Hello, a little romance is nice. Overall, it was a 3 1/2 star to start then dropped to a 1 1/2 star in the middle but redemnend itself at the end. so 3 stars. I think I'm going to listen to the 3rd book....just to see if the author decides to develop her "love" interest.

Joanna Walker, A Terrific Woman's Woman!

I just totally love this series. Great reader!!! Terrific plots and characters. It does get philosophical but that's a great change from Shoot Em Up, Blow Em Up murder mysteries. Love Love Love the car analogies (not that many women appreciate automobiles). Plus when was there Ever a great woman mechanic character?? Novel Novel....

What did you like best about Thunderbird Falls? What did you like least?

There are some great characters. I felt that there was so much description, clarification that it bogged the story down in places. I did like the fast paced sections. I found the story line a little too obvious to be a challenge, but I still liked most of the book.

Would you recommend Thunderbird Falls to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, for a light read that doesn't require undivided attention.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator was fine for women's voices, but I did not like her male voices.

Any additional comments?

I did prefer the narrator of the first book to the second narrator.

So disappointed in the new narrator.

Wow loved the story and narration of the 1st book only to be completely disappointed in the new narrator. She basically sounds like she’s just reading. Whereas in book 1 the narrator was so animated you get lost in the story. Unfortunately I’ll prob stop at book 1. I have the series on kindle.

Great Lead Lady

I love this character but I am deeply disappointed that the narrator was changed. The narrator of the first book delivered the sneakiness of the main character.

Narrator almost ruined it

The new narrator made getting through this book a challenge. She has 1 voice that I presume is her normal speaking voice and thats not so bad. Anytime she tries to do any other voices it sounds like she shoved a handful of cotton balls in her mouth.

The story overall is solid though. I just wish they hadn't changed to this narrator. She made it very difficult to enjoy, but after a while you can more or less tolerate it and still get through it.

Unfortunately she is the narrator for the remainder of the series it seems. I really like the story, but it's going to be a struggle with this narrator.

second book also good!

I agree, you shouldn't switch narrators in the middle of a series, but the narrator in this one was just fine in my humble opinion. I enjoyed the story for sure. it may have been even more trippy than the last! still loving Joanie as a strong female lead. She feels real. There's no sugar coating her mistakes and I like that in a character. But just because she makes mistakes doesn't mean she isn't a good person. she tries hard to do her best, even when sometimes it's hard or she just doesn't feel like she can. I'm looking forward to the next book!
