Publisher's summary

Three nights of danger...

When her brother was arrested for murder, the ton shut its doors to Marietta Winters. No one would help her save him from the gallows - no one but Gabriel Noble. In exchange for taking the case, Gabriel requests three favors from the desperate young beauty, and Marietta has no other choice but to make a deal with the sinfully handsome devil.

Three nights of pleasure...

Searching for clues in the rough underbelly of London, Marietta must masquerade as a shamelessly wanton wench - much to Gabriel's delight. But Marietta swears to herself that her passionate moans are just for show. She could never fall in love with such a maddening, arrogant, seductive stranger...could she?

Three nights of sin...

Night after night, she satisfies his wicked cravings. But soon Gabriel wants more from Marietta than just three nights of sin - and even a sordid secret in his past won't prevent him from trying to possess her forever.

Excellent historical romance

This book has all the elements of a good historical romance. Great story with just the right balance of mystery and romance is combined with strong, interesting characters who are well developed. The narration contributes, making the listening enjoyable.

Good addition to my library.

Less sexy, more interesting than it appears

3.5 stars

Definitely not your average historical romance. This book deals with a far grittier reality than that of ton balls and vouchers to Almacks. The protagonists are barely part of society (him) or clinging to the fringe of society (her). The book opens with Marietta going to Gabriel in desperation to ask his help in proving her 18-year-old brother innocent of a series of Jack the Ripper-like murders. Their relationship develops as she collaborates with him to search for evidence that could free her brother.

There are many things to like about this book, and the novelty of the characters and plot is a major one. Unfortunately, I was never able to warm up to Marietta enough for the romance aspect to completely work for me. Part of that may have been the audiobook narration. It was actually pretty good but it's possible that the portrayal of M wasn't as sympathetic as it could have been and that influenced my perception of her. I would also be interested to see what their life would look like a few years down the road, because their HEA seems a little fragile. It's great that they recognize that they love each other, but how are they going to make a life together?

The climax of the book was heartbreaking and will stick with me for a long time. I don't want to say much else about it in order to avoid spoilers.

Finally, the cover and title seem to promise one kind of book, while what we get is far different and, in my opinion, better. I can see someone being disappointed if they were expecting a very hot historical and got this complex, psychologically gripping murder mystery instead.

As the title promises-not a typical period work!

Any additional comments?

I'm used to predictable responses from ladies and gentlemen of the period. Nothing about the characters' responses were predictable based on social norms of the period. Nor was it easy to determine if the leading male character was friend or foe. Interesting read.

More than I expected

In most books I peruse before picking, I tend to have a good idea of the story/plot I'm going to be involved in. "Three Nights of Sin" caught me by surprise. I found the combination of my two favorite types of story lines played very well together. The romance portion was both enjoyable and sensual and the mystery surrounding it kept you guessing and wanting to read on. This is my first book by Anne Mallory and it has prompted me to excitedly anticipate another.

(there are graphic sexual situations and other adult themes)

Delightful Regency Romance with a Good Mystery

I don't understand the reviewers who thought this book wasn't romantic. I thought it had a very nice love story and a great mystery plot. Although I do enjoy a hot and steamy romance it sometimes comes with no real plot. With this gem of a book it had a great mystery with a side a romance. I guess you have to be in the mood for this type of book. If you just want hot and steamy you should read a Maya Banks book instead.
Don't be fooled by the awful cover art and title (who comes up with this stuff) this was a great book.

nice

his book is an erotic historical romance

Marietta Winters is losing everything, her parents are dead and now her brother is being accused of murder and she will do anything to set him free. When she meets Gabriel she had no idea her words were going to get her in more trouble and possibly lose her heart.

Gabriel is a man that everyone goes to if they need something, but it comes at a cost, money or three favors. When he meets Marietta he learns about love than anything else. But when more bodies are being found, he finds out there is more to his past that is coming to haunt him.

Almost Perfect.

If you could sum up Three Nights of Sin in three words, what would they be?

Historical - Romance - Mystery

What other book might you compare Three Nights of Sin to and why?

I have not read it yet...

What does Angèle Masters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Angele Masters did a great job performing both the multiple male roles and the female ones. From high class to working class.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Agatha Christie and Mr. GQ meets Jack the Ripper.

Any additional comments?

I have read thousands of books. What I liked so much about this book was that Anne Malllory broke the mold or rather broke out of the mold with Three Nights of Sin. There isn't a book out there that I can compare this one to, it is one of my all time favorites.Congratulations to Ms. Mallory for her first audiobook. She really raised the bar with this one! Thank goodness a great narrator was chosen to record it.
