Three determined bosses: Tate Baxter, Eric Cohen, and Kellan Kent are partners for one of the most respected law practices in Chicago. But these three masters of the courtroom also share a partnership in the bedroom, fulfilling the darkest needs of their female submissives night after night. Everything was fine-until they hired Annabelle Wright as their administrative assistant.
One beautiful secretary: Belle felt sure she'd hit the jackpot with her job, but in the last year, the three gorgeous attorneys have become far more than her bosses. They're her friends, her protectors, and in Belle's dreams, they're her lovers, too. But she's given her heart to them all, so how can she choose just one?
An unforgettable night: When her bosses escort her to a wedding, drinks and dancing turn into foreplay and fantasy. Between heated kisses, Belle admits her innocence. Surprise becomes contention and tempers flare. Heartbroken and unwilling to drive them apart, Belle leaves the firm and flees to New Orleans. That leads to danger. Resolved to restore her late grandmother's home, she hopes she can move on without the men. Then Kellan, Tate, and Eric show up at her doorstep, seeking another chance. But something sinister is at work in the Crescent City and its sights are set on her. Before the trio can claim Annabelle for good, they just might have to save her life.

Overall, I liked the books. Shayla Black can really make a scene sizzle. This is my first experience with Lexi Blake and I hope it won't be my last. I thought the story line was interesting. The heroes were the usual types: commitment-phobe, jock, and geek. They truly made an amazing group for the heroine.
That being said...The heroine is supposed to be African American and 26--I did not feel that. She just made too many errors that one only sees in young women written as non-black. I just did not get a feel that the writers understood characteristics of heroines who are mature and black. NO--that doesn't mean she has to talk slang. There was an error of victimization that she accepted--that at 26 NO woman should take.
Someone writes on my wall in blood--IT'S ON!
Lawyer talks to me disrespectfully--IT'S ON!
Person is creepy--IT'S ON!
At a certain age, all women feel an inner strength that will not let any one walk over them. She never followed her instincts--this is typical of a young woman, not one her age. This was not the case here. The heroine stood up to her men, but did not stand up to the right people. Maybe it's just me, but I just like spunkier women. The sex scenes were hot and well done. The storyline was okay as all the characters had growth to complete. Honestly, my favorite was Tate. He was hilarious. I will continue to listen to both Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. This book is 15 hours and I did not skip ahead once. Ryan West was a great choice for the narrator! I loved his voice and he really added to the intimate scenes! Yaay! I really enjoyed the read and do recommend it.
I really hope that I have not offended anyone with my gripes because I did not intend to do so. I wrestled with this review, but in the end, had to be honest. Thanks for reading and I hope this review helped you.
Narrator did a great job. My only wish is a different voice for Belle. He made her sound too wimpy/needy. She struck me as a stronger woman.
Loved the story. Pleasantly surprised by the humor. The touch of mystery was suspenseful albeit obvious. Good back story on the characters let you get to really know them. And of course the sex was amazing! Nice flow and pace overall.
I love the series of books, and I've enjoy everyone of them. Listening to this audiobook "Their Virgin Secretary" was a little hard. The performance of the narrator seems more like when you think of the "Mayhem" commercials, it was like each line had to be read completely separate from any other line of the paragraph. It was hard to listen to.
I am open to reviewing quality products.
They great thing about this series is you go in to it knowing what to expect. The down side is it gets to feel format after a bit of time. Here we are on book six and it feels like the exact same story I have been reading since the beginning of the series. Sassy virgin curvy gal in distress saved by smexy billionaire menage guys with a flare for BDSM, insert different threat to her life and personal drama from the past for both her and the men. Maybe I need a break from this series.
It is still the fun well written series that I have always loved, it just feels too set up and packaged. Anabelle is the kind of gal I love to route for, it was just tough this go around. A high point is her dishy nerd Tate, he would have a serious restraining order if she did not dig him, but he is endearing in his social awkwardness. "I am going to offer her my penis" is definitely my fav line from the whole book!
The story is interesting and engaging, it is just too familiar. The facts are also fairly obvious and totally overlooked by the seemingly intelligent characters. Sorry, I was cranky during the read, I just expected more. I am worried that there is no growth to the series. I hope this book is just a fluke. Both authors are usually wonderful.
The narrative is mixed, we get everybody's POV throughout the story. I like this because it really gets you into all their heads and helps understand their unique perspectives.
The steam is off the charts hot, it just feels very been there done that. If you are more interested in the smexy stuff, this book will suit you. Loads of hot and heavy, pretty much right from the start. You will need several cold showers!
I listened to the audio-book and loved the narrator, Serena Daniels. She does a terrific job with the voices and when she reads the smexy Dom stuff, oh boy! And the accents this time were terrific. She really is a credit to the series and one of the reasons I kept listening.
At this point I think I need a break from this series. One can hope the series gets back to its greatness in the next book.
*** If you found this review at all helpful, please take a moment to let me know. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed, all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! ***
Tate is an absolutely amazing character .. This is the funniest and sweetest book yet .. Love it and can't wait for more
I'm romance author Jessi Gage and I love anything with passion, romantic tension, and happy endings! I also read lots of books to my kids.
this book had me laughing and gasping and cheering the characters on. it was a fun ride with excellent narration. will be listening to the whole set.
I read some of the reviews on this book and almost past it by, but I am so glad I didn't. In one of the reviews they said that they wouldn't have forgiven Kellan. WHAT!!! I love the dynamic between the three of them. It was really delving deep into their hang ups and that's really true to life. I just loved this book!!
The narrator was fantastic!!!!
I laughed a lot and Love it.
Good Books Don't Promote Violence
Shayla Black and Lexi really know how to write engrossing characters and witty dialogue. Why they insist on adding sexual violence and degradation of a woman to an otherwise enjoyable romantic story is disturbing and bewildering.
Belle is an intelligent, innocent and caring 26 year old who falls in love with 3 older lawyers who claim to care about her. However, the men believe that hitting, dominating and controlling her body and mind is acceptable behavior. Creepy!
When it was revealed that Belle is black and the men are all white, the sexual images became even more distasteful. Belle is instructed to call them Sir and taught how to be their sex slave, with threats of violence if she refuses,. Yuk!
The men wanted to collar Belle like an animal, tell her how to dress, when to breed and basically treat her like a possession. Perhaps if Belle had grown a backbone, demanding to be treated with dignity & respect, and the men weren't chauvinist pigs, I might have enjoyed this book.
Belle is one lucky lady! The story is strong enough to be made into a movie, it's that good. Three perfectly emotionally flawed, beautifully sculptured men who want nothing more but to love and cherish one woman, pure fantasy but oh so delicious. The narrator was brilliant, taking on all four characters and having the ability to convey all their characteristic with his one voice is a real talent. Overall pretty good, will read more from these authors.
I love Tate he is so sweet and funny - best book of the series
