Publisher's summary

1231 A.D.

After a nasty skirmish along the England/Scotland border at Bog Wood, a badly wounded knight has crawled off to die. As women from the Clan Scott fan out across the battlefield to collect the spoils of war, one woman breaks off from the pack. She is sickened by the tradition of stealing valuables off the dead and runs off to hide. In her hiding place, however, lingers the badly wounded knight. The young woman is frightened at first but her natural instinct to lend aid takes over. She tends the knight and saves his life. Little does the Lady Jordan Scott know that she has just saved the life of the dreaded English knight known to her people as The Wolf.

Still listening

Would you listen to The Wolfe again? Why?

I am not sure ... it depends on how the book ends. It has taken a while to get use to the narrator ... I do not like him... he is so long and drawn out it is no wonder that the book is 34 hours, the story is engaging so I am still plugging along.

Who was your favorite character and why?

So far I like the main characters, but Jemma and her love triangle is still developing... we will see.

What didn’t you like about Guy Veryzer’s performance?

His nauseating drawns out all the words... I almost returned the book and quit reading, but the story was intriguing I wanted to see where it goes... I really hate his voice, very monotone and hard to distinguish characters

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Still reading ... wait and see

Any additional comments?

The narrator voice is annoying and awful, beware before you spend your credits. This might have been a book to read in print and not on audio.

Once you get past the speed its a good listen

What did you love best about The Wolfe?

The Wolfe's cast of characters made for an enjoyable listen. The story did not have the usual romance features of taking a long time for the characters to fall in love or admit they have fallen in love. I enjoyed the vulnerability of the male characters while they still maintained the strength and character that draws me into historical romance. While the main characters were incredibly enjoyable I really appreciated the attention given to the minor characters as well.

What did you like best about this story?

I think this was a complete story so there is nothing about the story I found lacking. The audio and some mistakes heard did make me question the purchase however if you get past the first chapter or so and put the speed on 1.5 you will be able to enjoy the book.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Guy Veryzer?

not if it drags like this did... I could not tell if it was the audio itself or the narrator with issue.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself smiling and laughing several times.

Any additional comments?

The first chapter or so will have you questioning your purchase but if you speed up the audio and perserve you will get to a point where it seems to correct and you can begin to enjoy the book.

Another LeVeque Treat!

I have left previous reviews for this author. Her books are always terrific and exceedingly entertaining! My only negative is perhaps the narrator. However, he was definitely better than others I have heard. I think LeVeque's books deserve better narrators to showcase her talent.

needed to up narration speed

narrator spoke so slow that I would have fallen asleep before the end of the first chapter. upped narration speed to 125% and then it was suitable for lustening, otherwise I would have missed out on a great story.

LOVE THIS BOOK

I absolutely loved this book! The story was so good, I absolutely loved the characters. However it’s a really long book so there were some points where it felt like it was dragging a little and there was too much detail but you just have to stick it through and it’s worth it in the end!

An Epic Love Story

Guy Veryzer’s narration of The Wolfe takes you back to a romanticized time when knights rescued ladies from desperate events. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Having read it before I knew what would happen, but hearing it made a much richer experience. I look forward to listening to the following books.

Amazing

This book is amazing. It’s everything I ever wanted in a romance book including the ending every single bit of it is just perfect. I highly recommend this book if you grow attached to characters but find the book is only several hours long, but not this one! Even when I saw I only had a few hours left I was saddened and wishing it could only go on as I get immersed into these tales. This book is just the ideal romance and romance book! I love it!

A TRULY EPIC LOVE STORY!

I would give this story 10 stars if I could! Sir William and Lady Jordan's love story truly left me breathless. Kathryn Le Veque weaves a tale that is emotionally intense. She has created a world where love really does conquer all and shows that soul mates truly do exist. I love her vivid detail of the medieval period from clothing to fighting to food. And the politics are very interesting. She really brings this world to life. I fell in love with most of the characters in this book, the rest were just evil. The way Lady Jordan faces her future is very brave and it sure helps to have such an Alpha male to face that future with. There are a couple poems included that are beautiful! If all of the books in this series have poems, Ms. Le Veque should publish them in a separate book. I love that this audiobook was so long because not one word could have been left out. It is well worth the time!

As good as Outlander!

Wow, I really loved this book. I loved it so much that I finish this 30 plus hour book in a 36hr time period. (I needed a short nap).

As with book 0, there is a group of English Knights that are like brothers. Unlike book O, there is more focus on the romance of the Hero and Heroine. There is also secondary couples that are discussed in a lesser fashion.

This book is set before the times of William the Wallace, as so many books including the English And the Scottish. Scotland has their own King still, but there is much Conflict on the border of England and Scotland. It was a bit wierd to not be anti-England because so many books have been written about King Bruce And Scotland ' s struggle to regain their independence from England, that I have been conditioned to be Anti-England. It reminded me to always remember that History is written by falAble humans and there are always two sides to every story.
I'll warn you that there is quite a bit of angst and I cried a lot. Therefore, you might want to listen to this in front of a lot of people.
I did speed the narration to 1.25 and that seemed more natural. Spend the credit, you won't be disappointed.

Ooh my Knights....

What a wonderful listen! This story just didn't center around a love story between William ( The Wolfe ) and Lady Jordan, but the love, friendships, and loyalties between The Wolfe and his knights. You seriously will fall in love with each and everyone of the characters. This listen was filled with tons of actions/dramas, you'll laugh and cry throughout the listen.

I almost returned this book because I couldn't stand the narrator's voice....but after the first chapter it gets easier to get used to his voice, and the story starts to fall into place.
