Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Julie Garwood has captured the hearts of millions of listeners worldwide with timeless tales of love and soaring adventure. Now, returning to the enchanting world of her classic love story “The Bride,” she brings to glorious life the passion, intrigue, and rivalry of medieval Scotland....

Resigned to an arranged marriage to a highland laird she has never met, Lady Brenna journeys from England to Scotland certain she will suffer a loveless marriage. But en route to her betrothed, a rival band of Werce, painted warriors intercept her caravan and demand that she marry their leader -- the handsome, quick-tempered laird Connor MacAlister, the same man she'd repeatedly proposed to as a child while he'd been a visitor to her father's castle.

Though Brenna scarcely remembers the secret missives she'd sent to MacAlister declaring her love, she has never forgotten the tall visitor's dazzling, unexpected smile. Now older and wiser, Brenna harbors no illusions that Connor is in love with her -- indeed, after a hasty forest wedding, Connor assures her she can return home once she has borne him a son. Lady Brenna has no idea that her capture is merely the first act of vengeance against her betrothed, Connor's sworn enemy.

Determined to be happy, Brenna soon endears herself to most of the MacAlister clan, despite -- or perhaps because of -- her uncanny knack for getting into trouble. And although she comes to adore her brave, superstitious, gentle husband, she has no clue that Connor lives for the moments she whispers "I love you"...words she never meant him to hear. But, as she sets out to win the heart of the brave chieftain, a legacy of revenge ensnares Brenna in a furious clan war -- and only her faith in her gallant husband can save her....

    Any additional comments?

I can count on Julie Garwood to give me a good book that I can escape into. But I really like the ones set in the Highlands. There's nothing like a Highland warrior. (Hot flash!) But no matter how good the story, the narration really makes a difference. Heather Wilds doesn't just read the story, she brings it to life. I want to listen to more stories read by Heather Wilds.

    "Loved the narrator"
If you could sum up The Wedding in three words, what would they be?

Great love story. This is the first Julie Garwood book that I couldn't quit listening too. The narrator made the book.

    "Narrator PERFECTION, delicious characters"

Garwood once again created outstanding characters and their banter is the best element of the book. Heather Wilds is an EXCEPTIONAL narrator and is only second to Kate Reading in my opinion. This book is not as good as The Bride, but is still great and credit worthy. If you enjoy Garwood's characters then you will like these as well. I actually liked the first half of the book much better than the last half. The first half had me laughing and crying. Then it seemed to slightly flatten out, but I still enjoyed it very much.

    "Light Fun and Romantic Story"

Most Julie Garwood books are wonderful stories and this one didn't disappoint. This book is the charming and entertaining story of Brenna and Conner that is jam packed with feisty conversations and laugh out loud funny scenes. Of course it wouldn't be a Highlander book without the bad guys who added a bit of mystery and sadness to the tale. It's a light feel good type of book that is worth a credit but because the price is reasonable you may not choose to use the credit. Either way it is worth a listen.

"Julie Garwwods and Historicals equals...The Best"
Would you listen to The Wedding again? Why?

Yes! I will surely will listen to it again. Love the story and the narrator does a pretty good job her voice is easy to listen to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Both Brenna and Connor can't go wrong with both. The go together like bacon and eggs.

What does Heather Wilds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

When listening to a book is like having a bran new version of the book if it's done well and she does. She as a nice voice not scratchy nor gruff nor whinny (I hate whinny voices). But I wouldn't stop reading the print or e-book they all go together.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Blue Paint and Weddings

"First half snoozer, second half amazing!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wedding to be better than the print version?

I've not read the print version of this book. However, the audio version allows the narrator the ability to inflect emotion into the "voices" of the characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wedding?

When Connor returns to the castle on horseback and snatches Brenna off the ground during full gallop, he is just realizing what she means to him.

    Any additional comments?

The first half of the story set the stage for the second half, it was snow moving and made me wonder how long it would take to get through the rest of the story. But once the second half started, I actually did listen all in one sitting. It was such a "page turner" that I ended up listening to it late into the night and left me so revved up that I couldn't fall asleep right away. I got up, worked for a couple of hours, then finally falling asleep in the wee hours of the morning. I haven't had a book do that to me in a long, long time.

    "Garwwod is always good!"

The story was fun to listen to. I always appreciate Garwood's engaging characters and infusion of humor as well as a bit of suspense! I confess I had to go back and relisten to The Bride before I listened to this because they have related characters. I believe that enhanced this story. It was an enjoyable use of a credit.

    "A Yearly Re-Read"

I know it's spring when I want to dive into my Julie Garwood Highland Lords stash. This book, The Wedding, is book one in a two book series, and one of my favorites.

Brenna meets the giant Highlander, Connor MacAlister, when she is little more than a baby. Even though she is covered in dirt and hiding a piglet in the folds of her gown, he scoops her up out of harms way, and steals her heart. Right then and there, she decides she will marry him, and proceeds to send him marriage proposals over the years as she grows up.

Years later, Connor's enemy is expecting the arrival of his bride from England, and Conner decides to foil him by intercepting the lady and marrying her himself. Of course, it's Brenna, now a grown young lady, she has no memory of Connor or her proposals. But he remembers everything.

Like all of Garwood's Highlander books, the strong, stoic, powerful (and secretly charmed) Highlanders, are all pretty much the same guy in every book -- while the young, innocent virgins are all the same girl. Only the situations alter, but I don't care. After I pull the weeds and spray the flower food on the garden, I relax into my anti-gravity lounger with iced tea, a cookie. With my earbuds firmly fitted into my ears, I disappear to wander through the wild flowers in the highlands, for a lovely escape and a little romance.

The 1st book, The Bride, is just as good.

Other books in my playlist include Garwood's The Secret, Ransom and Shadow Music -- all of them are wonderful!

Saving Grace is another book I've added, but I haven't worked my way down to it, yet.

    Happy summer!

Cute innocent voice. Love the Scottish accent!

A diamond in the rough. **would LOVE to see this in the theaters!**

Listened to this book years ago and was thrilled it was finally available to purchase. My favorite!

    "A Wonderful romance!"

How can you not love a big, strong, handsome and challenging laird? Love those Highlanders. This love story was definitely worth the time and credit spent. I recommend it to those interested in passion, love and action, though not much.
