Audie Award Finalist, Romance, 2014
Nestled on the Oregon coast is a small town of rocky beaches and rugged charm. Locals love the land’s unspoiled beauty. Developers see it as a potential gold mine. When newcomer Hank Cooper learns he’s been left an old friend’s entire beachfront property, he finds himself with a community’s destiny in his hands. Cooper has never been a man to settle in one place, and Thunder Point was supposed to be just another quick stop. But Cooper finds himself getting involved with the town. And with Sarah Dupre, a woman as complicated as she is beautiful. With the whole town watching for his next move, Cooper has to choose between his old life and a place full of new possibilities. A place that just might be home.

Robyn Carr is one of my Favorites. Her Characters are so strong and the details she gives build a perfect image. She doesn't move on to new characters in the next book and forget about the previous ones. Her books are more about the towns as a whole instead of just focusing on specific characters in each book. she introduces new characters in each book and builds them until it's their turns.
This book is a great introduction to a new town. I gotta tell you, I'd be happy living in Thunder Point or Virgin River.
Therese Plummer is an awesome narrator. You know which character is talking and how they what emotions they are feeling. She an Robyn are a great team.
If you live in a big city take a vacation with Robyn Carr to Thunder Point but be warned you won't want to leave.
I thought I could never love any of Robyn carrs books much as I did the Virgin River serious thunder point has change my mind about that!
Not time well spent. The book while not bad was definitely slow. It felt more like an introduction to the town and the individuals rather than the "romance" it claims in the description. In fact, the two protagonists do not meet until well into the book. Also, the mysterious death being investigated felt like it was an afterthought, written by someone not used to writing the details of a mystery or suspense.
I had difficulty discerning the different male characters. If I skipped ahead 30 seconds (which I admit to doing upon occasion) I would be lost in determining the male character(s) in the scene since everyone from the 16 yr old boy to the 37 yr old man sounded the same.
I read a later book in this series before listening to this book, it's what made me want to read this book. However, it was a disappointment. I would read additional books from this author/series, just not listen to it.
This is typical Robyn Carr. There is much more build on daily life and surrounding friendships than there is just on the romance. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Although predictable - it was a pretty good read until the last couple of chapters which turned into explicit sex. Although, enjoy a good love story - the explicitness of the sexual encounters was just not in line with the rest of the story - I think more needed to be left to the imagination - otherwise enjoyable on the road read - Just don't have any kids within ear shot when listening the last couple chapters!
I love these books!! They have everything, romance (with some very sexy parts), humor and everyday life drama I could Identify with. I ran out of credits on the 3rd book and have to wait a month to get more. It's been a long time since I've wanted time to speed by for a book LOL. I think these books are good for young adults. some high school bulling, young love situations that are very common now days ( I say young adults because of the sexy parts ). I will be listening to all the books by this author, the narrator is fantastic, I'm so happy I found them.
It was an interesting listen. I enjoyed the characters and their relationships. It's a small town of Thunder Point, simple life but not without problems. There's sheriff Mac who takes care of the town and a husband whose wife left him with children early in their marriage. He raises his children. There are many people with relationships that will keep your interest. This is a series book.
I loved the small town and how everyone knew everything about everyone and how lives intertwined.
When Aunt Lou decided to tell about her boyfriend and it was not a surprise to Mac and how she introduces him into family. She has a great role as Aunt to Mac and his children who live with him. She is funny yet has great wisdom.
Back to real life in a small town! Remember when!
If you want to go back to small town living this is close to the real life of long ago and yet keeps one's interest. Great read.
The story isn't as much about a single person falling in love as it is about an entire town and all the little twists and turns that happen in their lives.
I'm not quite sure why someone classified this book in the romance genre but whoever did it, couldn't have been more wrong. This wanderer guy the title hints that the story about is in maybe 1 hour of the 8 hour story. Yes he falls in love, but considering that's only a tiny part of the whole story, it make no sense why they even called the book that.
