    "Sloooow Start"
What did you like best about The Taste of Innocence? What did you like least?

When a plot was finally introduced about 3/4s through the first half of the book. The courtship started out the book and was too long.

Would you recommend The Taste of Innocence to your friends? Why or why not?

I doubt it. Took way too long to go introduce a plot of interest. Just learning about how the main character is wooing his identified intended was too drawn out.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Simon Prebble?

Oh, yes. Simon Prebble is one of the very best! He nails all the characters without resorting to a falsetto for the female voices as several inexperienced and less talented male narrators do. A lot of seduction and sex scenes without including explicitly erotic scenes as novels by Jennifer Ashley, Maya Banks, Charlotte Featherstone and Courtney Milan's are.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No

    Any additional comments?

The author's description of place, dress and the time's social mores is very good.

    "another good combination of author/narrator"

Always enjoy the combination of this author and narrator. Simon Prebble brings so much dimension to each voice, makes it so easy to follow the characters. Also enjoyed the links to other Cynster characters from the past. You don't have to have read those books, but if you have it adds another depth to this story. If you like historical romance, interesting story line, and sizzle in the physical descriptions, you will like this book.

    Story
    "Slow and too much sex..."
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I realize romance novels obviously have sex scenes and maybe it is just me but this story seems to have too many sex scenes. I like to have a story but with all of the sex parts of this book I tend to zone out and forget what the rest of the story line is. And really the story line seems to be just something to fill time in between them having sex.

What could Stephanie Laurens have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    More story to it.

What about Simon Prebble’s performance did you like?

    He did great reading it.

Do you think The Taste of Innocence needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    No.

The reader is superb. I always enjoy Stephanie Laurens' books, and Simon Prebble is my favorite reader of them. He always does all the characters very well. In this book, he made the hero so real that I felt like he was right next to me.

    "Narration pauses in spurts!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This story line is good, the narration is horrifying. He pauses in places without commas which emphasizes words that were not intended to get the emphasis.

The story felt disjointed, it was hard to listen to as a result of the narration. I have tried listening at several speeds, but the narration grated on me. The story was ruined for me and I have put his name on the list of never listen to him again!

A good story, ruined for me by the narrator.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    The narrator!

Would you be willing to try another one of Simon Prebble’s performances?

Never again. I couldn't finish listening to this one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    No film.

    "Charlie's all grown up"

It was great to see a character from the Cynster novels in a stand alone novel. And as usual the combo of Stephanie Laurens and Simon Prebble was outstanding. The story kept me interested and didn't bore me once. I kept rooting for young Charles and he finally came through after overcoming his misconceptions about marriage.
