Publisher's summary

Hoping to escape unwanted celebrity in the aftermath of a notorious incident, Ramsey Hunt settles in the Rockies, determined to bury himself in the safety of a solitary existence. But his isolation is shattered when he stumbles upon a small girl unconscious in the high-altitude forest.

When strangers pursue Ramsey to his private meadow in an attempt to kill him and the girl, he's mystified that anyone would wish her harm. And the child can't shed any light on the subject: she's mute.

Molly Santera, the girl's mother, catches up with Ramsey and her daughter, mistaking her daughter's savior for a kidnapper. But soon Ramsey's real role becomes clear. With the strangers in pursuit, the trio flees to Chicago for sanctuary. Even there, however, the child's enemies prove as relentless as their motives are baffling.

With an unexpected assist from FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock (last seen in The Maze), Molly and Ramsey begin to unravel the clues, and in the process they make an astonishing discovery as to the true nature of the target.

Good book, but needs better narrator

I really like Catherine Coulter's FBI series. I loved the fact Savitch and Sherlock are included, since they are my favorite characters. Not happy with the narration; all the men sounded like women. There were multiple times the 2 main characters conversed and I couldn't tell when they switched! So glad the next has a different narrator

Slow but with Firecrackers

The story begins a bit slowly and is even a bit hoaky but evens out with much fun and plenty of mystery. As always with Coulter, the characters personality shines through the rather fantastical storyline. I loved it and even though I had my suspicions, the ending caught me by surprise.

Sherlock

I love these FBI Stories specially since my birth name is Sherlock and it brings back all the memories of the teasing of our name. Also in the last book I heard them say Jane mentioning Sherlock that’s my name too. Now on to my 4th book 📖 thanks

The Target

1st book was hard to listen to sound like a romance. Try 2nd much improved. The Target #3 was very good starting to sound more like a thriller. Characters going for book to book starting be a good series. Ready for # 4.

I would have liked a different reader.

Not one of Catherine Coulters best but sadly made far, far worse by the fiat presentation of the reader. Her voice lacked life, she sounded bored. She managed to keep some tension in the storyline, but didn’t energize the main female and male characters, or give them life. At one point I found myself unsympathetic to one of the main characters, and realized it was due to the way the presenter was speaking the lines. Their voices were not unique, so at times it was hard, if not impossible, to know which character was speaking. Not even halfway through the story and her presentation is irritating me more and more. I keep taking breaks. I do want to finish this and hope I can. I’m so glad I didn’t have to sacrifice a credit, only to have to return the book. Thankfully this was available with my monthly romance fee.
