In the second entry in Heather Killough-Walden's Big Bad Wolf series, when alpha werewolf Malcolm Cole encounters Claire St. James, he's determined to have her as his mate-even if one of the world's most powerful alphas has already staked a claim on her. Contains mature themes.

I like the premise of this series, so far, but the narration just might keep me from continuing with it. The narration is stilted and in some parts I could not separate different individual's portion of a conversation, most males sounded the same and female voices were ridiculous. I don't believe GJ was the best person for the narration of this series as there are so many different voices that need to be differentiated. It really is too bad.
As for the storyline, I believe, after having listened to Book #1 also, that it is getting better and character development, however slow, is also getting better. I don't like, though, that the villain (Gabriel) is the star of the show and is much more described that anyone else.
I love werewolves, suspense, drama, etc. but I think HK-W needs to step up her game.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
The female protagonist in this installment is a twit. To take such abuse from a teacher? No way!! Despite others voiced concern she makes excuses. Then along comes Cole using the same techniques under the guise of love? /facepalm. This book left a lot to be desired, the ending if you want to call it that, leaves many unresolved issues. I hope the next book leaves out the SM/bondage crap. The healer leaving on the motorcycle really caught my fancy, I will get the next book just to see what her story will turn out to be.
Might listen to this again. The series is starting to pick up the pace but for some reason this narrator just drags for me. I can see him doing another story better or maybe it's the director. I'm still on the fence if I'll try other in the series.
This series is really complex. The women in the series overlap in the progression of the tale. Can't wait to start the next one. I think the narrator is doing a fine job as well. Those accents are authentic enough for me!
Give me water to swim and surf in. That with a glass of white wine and the sun. That's heaven.
It rates in the top ten of all the audio books I've listened to so far.
The way in which the different characters were blended to actually seem alive. The way that it was infused with the different major attractions on the Strip of Vegas.
What Happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.
Audiobooks are relaxing and 'food for the soul'.
Yes! I love the different accents utilized throughout the story.
Malcolm finding out that his mate "wanted him". He didn't just steal her.
The motorcycle crash scene as well as Charlie hurting Seth twice in the car.
The Bands of the Wolf
I'm eagerly anticipating listening to the rest of the series.
This series as been a very enjoyable surprise so far. In this installment, Cole and Charley are the main characters, but its a continuation from the first book in the over all story line. I am glad to see Cole find his true dormant and to get the rest of his story. I found Cole to be an interesting character in the first book as well. Charley's story is a real surprise as well! Very good action and I loved all the "little" secrets that are being revealed with each book. But there are still a lot of stories to be told and secrets to be revealed. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I do.
Yes, this is a wonderful series if you enjoy shapeshifters/werewolves!
I can't pick just one moment.............I know it sounds lame but I really enjoyed Malcom and Charlies struggle. Malcom had given up on happiness until Charlie so its nice to see the bad guy or supposed bad guy redeem himself and find love.
I love his accent
I did laugh at the sceens between Lilly and Malcom!
This book does have some steamy sex sceens!
Firstly, I love the BBW series, I like the plots which are unusual, with some twists, great characters and come on, who wouldn't like a handsome werewolf to take home. Now the but - I didn't think this was as good as the 1st book in the series - that's my only complaint - well that and they could be a bit 'hotter'.
I liked the narrator too.
Worth my credit? Definitely.
Somewhat. The story line was interesting, but the bondage sex line was not my cup of tea.
The most interesting aspect was the transfer of the tatoos and Charlie's bloodline history. The least interesting was the beginning and the sex that discribed the need for bondage... I can't relate to the character on any level.
My favorite scene was after the boat ride and Charlie's red tatoos were revealed. I felt (through the narration) the dispare, anger, and concern for the new mate.
The torture in this book really made me uncomfortable. So anyone who is sensitive to abuse be forewarned.
