Publisher's summary

Katie James is unlucky in love - so unlucky she's been reduced to kissing the marble statue in her own garden. But her luck changes when the statue warms to life in her arms - and turns out to be a hunk straight out of any woman's fantasy! Well, almost...Jorlan en Sarr hails from a distant planet, and, like all the other men Katie's known, he comes with a lot of baggage.

Entombed in his stony skin for centuries, Jorlan has been waiting for a maiden fair to break the spell. Yet this statuesque beauty with the will of an Amazon and kisses like flame is a far cry from the obedient damsels of Imperia. And though Jorlan is tempted to abandon all for the sake of Katie, unless he can convince her to give him her heart in two weeks' time, he'll be turned back to stone. And she'll be lost to him forever.

Couldn't get into it...

I listened to quite a bit of it but it went on and on about how she was attracted to him but, no, how she hated him, no...

Great start to a new series!!!

This was such a fun book. I loved it!

Katie and Jorlan have great chemistry! I laughed a lot over his antics and his “male ways” that is not so alien. In fact, I forgot that in fact he was from somewhere not of earth. This really read like a romantic comedy with just a touch of the supernatural thrown in. It was fun to watch the two of them evolve and discover each other and love.

There is also depth and emotion especially with his mother and brother Percen who is broken, and for the most part the villain of this story, but is healed and finds love too.

I found that I could really relate to Katie...she is a strong take charge kind of woman and she doesn’t need no prince charming to rescue her…and as Jorlan realizes this Katie too realizes that just because you are a strong independent woman doesn’t mean you still aren’t a woman and can still crave a happily ever after.

Worth a credit: YES!

Taming of the Shrew.

Not my favorite Gena Showalter book, but it wasn’t bad. Very much a Taming of the Shrew by a barbarian type of book. I would have liked it more if it had more of a plot or action to it. As a romance it is fine, but I like to have more stuff happening besides the hero trying to win the girls heart. The secondary romance was almost as an afterthought to make the brother capitulate to the other side and boom, gone is the bad guy. I much prefer the Lords of the Underworld. Narrator was okay.
