Only something as important as her best friend's wedding to mob boss Gabriel Moretti could allow Nika Paynne a reprieve from captivity. Her abusive husband has kept her under his thumb with footage of her beloved brother, Caleb, killing another man. But the respite from her violent life isn't the only draw. Vincente Romani - Gabriel's deadliest guardian - will be one of the best men at the wedding, and Nika has lingering thoughts about the fascinating mobster...covetous thoughts that may put her life in danger.
With the heartbreak he's suffered and the brutality he effortlessly delivers, Vincente knows he's the last person who can offer Nika a happily ever after. But his vow remains. He will do everything in his power to free his redhead from her violent prison - even if that means losing her forever.
In the second thrilling and passionate Wanted Men book, a dangerous line is drawn between loyalty to the mob and loyalty to one's heart.

The "Wanted Men" Series has become my new favorite. The first one with Gabriel & Eva was superb, but I really wanted Vincent & Nika to find happiness - they both so deserved it. The author is a great story teller and Mr. Schumaker is the wonderful varying voices of the males in this series; but I only gave him 3 starts because he really, really needs to hone is female voices; they really do sound like a man trying to make fun of a woman's voice (in my opinion). I can't wait for the next in the series to come to Audible.
I love espionage, legal, and detective thrillers but listen to most genres. Very frequent reviews. No plot spoilers! Please excuse my typos!
The Salvation of Vengeance and its earlier sister novel are highly rated at Audible and Amazon. I purchased both books at deep discounts. Neither is worth an Audible credit,
My only gripe is that after the suspenseful anticlimax, Vincent kept dragging his martyr complex on and on it just got tiresome! Plus I can't believe that the character of Caleb who is suppose to be this big bad biker gang leader gets caught by this crazy guy who has no skills no smarts and no muscles to boot and manages to get the drop on him twice, that is not a plausible scenario. Is Caleb's character suppose to be clumsy, dumb, or just a side-kick that gets knocked around or what?...then why have his character as a VP of a well known biker gang? Heh! I recommend the first book and I hope the third book is as good as the first one but this second book..not worth listening to again..too much angst and guilt and denial and just plain frustration on these characters ugh! But the narrator did a great job on the voices!!
I am an avid reader, not a professional book reviewer. I gladly offer my opinion of the books I read/listen to.
I am not sure. This story was very slow and descriptive ... to the point of being boring.
I am not certain. Sometimes I give author's another shot if the story line sounds appealing.
His voice was not appealing to me. I hated his "female" voice. His male voice was fine.
NO!!!!!! It was painful enough to listen to the first one!
SALE only. Do NOT use a credit!!
Say something about yourself!
Overall the story furthered the plot and I will get the next book that comes out BUT this book had me a bit aggravated with the implausibility of it and the constant internal dialogue of "He/She doesn't want me, how could He/She"..which both the leading man and woman each had what felt like 50+ times!
Vincent is the the second in command of the Italian Mafia, as well as a business man, but usually his business involves being an executioner and enforcer for the Italian Mob.
Nicca is the sister of Caleb who is high up in a MC gang who usually play on the wrong side of the law, so she has a certain moral flexibility when it comes to violence and enforcement. Sadly, Nicca was blackmailed into a sham of a marriage by a violent sociopath who recorded her brother killing someone...she gets beaten regularly but can't leave until she finds that recording...but when Vincent accidentally sees her back full of bruises her careful plans of protecting her brother go out the window because Vincent will NOT allow a woman to be abused in any way.
The idea of an abuse victim, and I mean really bad violent abuse, finding comfort in the arms of a man who performs violence for a living just seemed totally implausible to me. I still listened to the whole thing but it didn't sit well with me as far as being plausible. Nice to visit that world again though and looking forward to Max's book next.
Narrator was better this time, didn't try to assign stereotypical gay voices to the male leads but the women still sound horrible!
Funny, sassy and emotional...
It's a page turner that keeps you on edge while reading it... Loved her first book but this one was closer to home while reading it. It felt so real and raw. The ending was how it should be.
Not really they are all the same.
If she and all the other authors would come up with something different it would be nice. All the women do the same, someone they love is in trouble, they and only they can rescue them, they either are fooled or they get caught and need rescuing themself. Would be nice if they weren't so stupid, but what the hell I guess if they didn't feel like they were the only one who could do the saving nobody would buy the story. And don't get me started on the mind crap. Are all people so insecure or is it just the authors that think that they are. I feel like I am the only person who can read the signs if someone is interested in you or not. God forbid someone puts themselfs out there swallowing there precious pride. He has to say I love you first no she has to what the ___. Or I am not good enough what can I offer him/her give me a break If you feel that way DON'T start something to begin with.
pretty much all of them
NO movies do the same thing very boring
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Nina has suffered terrible abuse by her violent and increasingly deranged husband for a year now and finally she gets the chance she's been waiting for.... because she was blackmailed into marrying him in order to protect her biker brother. Her husband has a evidence that would put her brother away for life and now, finally, she can feel in his suitcase exactly where he's hidden it. However, before she can get to it her husband reaches breaking point when she returns to the Hotel a few minutes late and all Hell breaks loose with dramatic, shocking and violent consequences..... and during it all her chances to get the USB drive that will set her free is slowly slipping out of reach.
After rescuing Nika, Vincente wants to protect her and much much more but he has so many doubts about bringing Nika into his dangerous world and so around and around his thoughts go leaving him doing what he thinks is the right thing and the only choice to keep her safe. He wants her but daren't have her he wants to let her go but sees red with jealousy at the thought of another man touching her. Meanwhile, the hunt is on for her husband who is now gruesomely killing redheads and he is escalating his bloody murders as well as getting dangerously close to where Nika is. The sexual chemistry and attraction goes on a long time between Nika and Vincente until they can take no more..... promising each other that it's just for one night (yeah right we all know how that always ends up!!).
Lots of Mafia and MC characters get involved in the hunt for her husband but the climax comes when he gets the upper hand by kidnapping and torturing someone very close to Nika. But rather than waiting for the Mafia professionals to organize the rescue she does what so many stupid heroines do..... she charges off alone with no plan, no shoes and no idea what terrible danger is waiting for her. And the tension filled consequences are bloody and deadly with a twist and a regret-filled misjudgement that has a life-threatening outcome that affects and changes so many lives.
Worth a credit? Multiple POV's, a good narrator who brings just the right amount of emotions to each scene and has a lot of different characters and accents to do and he does them very well. It's a drama-filled story with a lot of angst, good sex scenes with a push/pull romance, some heartache, pulse-pounding tension when her husband's insanity reaches new heights and a great 'brotherhood' type feel from these hot Alpha stallions. Would have been worth a credit but, for an unbelievable price of $7.34 for over 12 hours of an enjoyable and angst ridden plot, I bought it saving the credit for a costlier book and got a real bargain..... as well as a good listen.
I loved, love, loved Vincente and I just couldn’t wait for him, or anyone, to kill Kevin. OMG! What an absolute piece of crap he was. The author made him a wonderful person to hate.
Loved the other great characters from the other book: Gabriel and Eva, Vasily, Alek, Maksim, Vex, Detective Lorenzo and, of course, Caleb.
AND, naturally, Nika had her TSTL moment, just like Eva had, and,of course, she got the sh*t beat out of her AGAIN and shot.
One reviewer said the “cussing was a little extreme.” LOL.. With this being the story about the mob I can’t see it being otherwise. If there hadn’t been some serious swearing by these guys I think the book would have been stupid.
Also, this was a little more angsty than A Love of Vengeance but not so much that it took away from the story.
There was some serious sex in this book so if you’re not into that you should skip this one.
As to the narrator: He did a good job on the voices and especially the sounds that the book called for: Whisper, snorting, laughter, whatever. Very nice!!
Such a nice story! With the bad male voice trying to turn it to a female was not to sexy!! But other than that it was good can't wait until the third book!! Hope it's about the brother it would be nice to see the family come together
"Got frustrated with heroine"
The heroine was TSTL for my liking and too many secondary characters. The only saving grace was the narrator's voice.
"Tall Dark and Brooding"
If you can get past the weak premise for the whole story then the characters were very fun especially the hero who was quite entertaining. I do wish the female characters were as fun. I read this one first and based on it I am going to give the first one in the series a go. Guarantied happy ever after which I always enjoy.
Maxism, I looked online and his will be the next book due out later in the year so I am looking forward to that.
