Publisher's summary

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off...

It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody - which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth: He has to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy's deal might be, but it's a good bet that his arrival means that the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

Critic reviews

"Armentrout dives deep into the psyches of both hero and heroine, deftly switching from one point of view to another, while creating a drum-tight sense of suspense and sexual tension from the first page to the last." ( Publishers Weekly)

Just Kill Me -- Male Narration is Torture!!!!

You CANNOT believe how bad the male narration is for this book!!! I'm not normally cruel, but this is SO frustrating. Seth is an AWESOME character and this guy has turned him into Arnold Schwarzenegger with a speech impediment. Spare yourself -- buy the Kindle edition and READ it.

Amazing!!!

I love This author! You are truly never bored. This book had romance, humor, and drama! I swear I could read this book all over again!!! I think I will! It's a little more mature then the Covenant series which you MUST MUST read (not that you have to in order to enjoy this book or understand it) but it explains the main characters background a bit more. This is a book a young adult could read as well as an adult. READ IT! It's worth the credit and may you never be the same again! :)

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE narrator

I seriously couldn't even get 10 minutes into this book. I just finished the cove a t series and was so excited for this spin off series. But man did it take a turn for the worse right off the back. The make narrator is soooooooo bad. It sounds like Drac from Hotel Transylvania is narrating the book. In the Covenant series the voice Justine Eyre used for Seth sounded nice and mysterious. This guy though makes it sound like a joke. I have never left a negative review on Audible because I'm pretty easy to please but this sucked!

The Return

Why did I wait so long to listen to this series! I love it I can’t even begin to explain how much I loved book 1. JLA has such a way with words and how she delivers a story I never feel like I am missing a piece of the pie so to speak.

Seth and Josie really have a back and forth relationship its breaks up the seriousness of everything and you can’t help but be rooting for them. I think Josie was brave as all get out, she finds out she isn’t just human but that she is something more and does she freak out well a little but for the most part she holds herself together.

I love that Seth has all this wisdom and past and yet he can still empathize with Josie and she with him. They really are two halves of a whole even if it takes them a while to figure it out.

I want more more more. I won’t lie and say I loved the narration because Seth’s narrator took a little getting used to but once I did I can safely say I can’t imagine anyone else doing that accent. And the narrator for Josie well I am a fan and always have been.
ON to book 2!

Loved the whole series but the new male narrator? Why?

I loved this series, but the new narrator wasn't clued in to the accent of the sun god and his accents didn't even come close to previous narration. Very off putting.

Sexy Seth is back!

I was so glad to see Seth back in his own series. The 1st book in this series also tied in nicely with the end of Sentinel. It was humorous & romantic with just enuf butt kicking. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

In the same boat... yikes

How did the male narrator believe this to be a wise choice? I was hoping that maybe he'd switch his tone to something easier on the ears upon meeting the girl. He didn't. This was rough. DNF. Could not get past it.

The voice of Seth is rough

I love the story, but was not thrilled with the male narration. Yet to read anything short of great by Armentrout!
