Forced into a reluctant partnership with Matthew and his uncle, Tate soon learns that her arrogant but attractive fellow diver holds as many secrets as the sea itself. And when the truth emerges about the mysterious death of Matthew's father eight years earlier, desire - and danger - begin to rise to the surface.
True to form, Nora Roberts offers a story of grand passion and gripping adventure, bringing her devoted fans to the hidden undersea world - and to the deepest parts of the human heart.

"The Reef represents Roberts at the top of her form. Not only does the novel have a passionate, compelling love story at its center, but it is rich with intrigue, suspense, and a full complement of fascinating characters." (Library Journal)
This was the 1st book I read by Nora Roberts and I was very pleased with it. I couldn't stop listening.....she captures your mind and fills it with her story. What a great ride this was!
I've listened to this book three times now and enjoyed it every time. It's a great story and worth adding to your library
I'm usually really easy to please, and not a harsh critic, but I totally couldn't get into this book. I'll admit, this was my first attempt at Nora Roberts. Are all her books this way? I love the genre of adventure / romance, which is why I bought this. But I could NOT latch on to the characters at all, and before I knew it they were already "in love", when I didn't think anything had even begun. It felt like I missed something, but I didn't. The Heroine falls for this guy before there is even any build up or anything desirable about him! Very strange. It made it impossible to feel any connection whatsoever.
Maybe it is the narration that I didn't like. It's read very very quickly, with no pause between sentences or phrases, as if she were trying to just get through the thing. Also, the accents just lost me.
I didn't even download the second half of this book. 2 hours in, I give up.
The reef is by far the best book I have ever read. It started off with a twist, and through out the entire read there was something exciting happening. If I could have stayed awake and never slept, I would have read (listened to) the entire novel in one sitting. Wow, I have nothing but great reviews for the reef. If you need one book to read for your entire career, give this one a chance. There were just the right amounts of mystery, romance, excitement, twists, science and thrill in it.
This is Kris and Ashley - we share this account as we both enjoy listening to audible books.
I'm a big fan of Nora Roberts, and have read most of her books (so long as they weren't published by Harlequin). Most of her books describe a strong female character with realistic character traits - her male characters are the same. I did not like the two leads in the book, and found that their 'lines' were very cheesey. I'll just chalk this up to it being a book written by her a long time ago, because she had really developed her craft as a writer.
I enjoy many books narrated by Sandra Burr. But this is one of my favorites.
I love witty, fast-paced books that keep you turning the page.
I loved the way that Tate and Matthew's relationship matured, without the extreme drama of other authors. The story started quickly and kept me looking for excuses to drive the car so I could get back to it. Although there is the ubiquitous murder, it isn't grisly and provides a good foundation to the story. The underlying theme of a treasure hunt provided a great backdrop to the romance and made me remember my youth and hearing about Mel Fisher's exploits. Sandra Burr is always a joy to listen to.
If you are a Nora Roberts fan, you'll like this, but I found some of it predictable. Some very intelligent people, well they are written that way, do some appallingly stupid things. Don't make a group of people so bright if you are going to have them do idiot things as a plot convenience. It irritates. I also get very tired of sociopaths for whom everything goes so magically right that they can get away with anything and everything without fail.
I have read some, and they have many good points, they are entertaining. They would make good Movie's of the Week.
Sandra Burr is amazingly talented. Her narrations intrigue and involve me. She does excellent characterizations as well as reading the "story" beautifully. I sometimes search for things she's read because I know they will be good.
I'd wait till it was on Netflix or TV.
This book held my interest till the end, Love and Suspense, and a truly good ending
Really haven't had any to compare to yet.
I thought I knew exactly how it would end, but she put the puzzle together the right way.
yes, when Tate gave the necklace to matthew.
If you haven't got the audio book, please do, you won't regret it.
"Not a great one"
I was just so put off by the narrator, that I had to return this one.
