Typical Romance Story with Slight Twist

Would you consider the audio edition of The Raven Prince to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version so I can't really say.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Anna because she wasn't your typical romance heroin. Normally they are unmarried and virgin, but not Anna. I liked that she already had some experience to bring to the story.

What does Moira Quirk bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed her reading because she read the words as I would have with the right pauses and hesitations. Her reading of the intimate moments wasn't cheesy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Heartwarming nice saucy story

Any additional comments?

If I want to be swept away, I read Elizabeth Hoyt! This story takes place in the country and it has a country-pace. A slow NOT action packed story. But the romance is heartwarming and the intimacy is hot and sexy. Characters are believable. Not a lot goes wrong, not much drama. it's a nice airy listen

Romance at its Hottest!

What happens when you combine the story of a bad tempered earl, who cares nothing for what others think about him, loves agriculture and doesn’t mind getting dirty, with a beautiful young widow whose philandering late husband caused her to distrust any man who claims any warm feelings towards her in any way? Well… throw in a meddling mother-in law, a pair of courtesans, the late husband’s mistress a few blackmailers and you have The Raven Prince. Anna Wren may seem docile on the outside but to the Earl of Swartingham she is the perfect secretary. Efficient, direct, and with a mouth he cannot stop dreaming about. The Earl may be a brut but Anna who has been without a man’s touch for seven years (and her husband has been deceased for six) longs to be with him and when the opportunity arrives she grabs on with both hands in order to embark on the ride of her life with the earl in tow, even if he doesn’t know it is her he is making love to. And let me tell you dear listener he does it well indeed. The intense chemistry between Edward and Anna will have you staring into space with your mouth agape and will require that you give your head a brisk shake to bring your mind back to the reality of your own life. In addition, Hoyt also treats you to another enchanting fairy tale throughout the listen. Definitely worth the time and the credit.

WOW!

Any additional comments?

Great story, one that is fresh and not the standard romance. I have to say I am impressed with the author in creating such a treat. The reader also did an excellent job!

Loved the story and the Fairytale! Amazing!

I didn't mind traffic jams and I would drive around the block one more time just to keep listening. The book was captivating, the narration perfect and there was a fairytale that started the beginning of each chapter that was as compelling as the book itself! I was a little hesitant because the storyline seemed a little trite and overdone, but it was SO well done that it seemed fresh. The story was compelling and I was emotionally invested in all H&H. I really enjoyed this book and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Great story

I loved the H and H. They were great characters. He started out rather rude and boorish, but improved with exposure. I loved the way the love story unfolded. It really held my attention.

Unique, interesting, and a reading pleasure.

I'm impressed with the creativity of this story line, and the enjoyable way this author made her characters appeal to the reader. As with many stories, I wasn't grabbed right away with intrigue, but the building elements soon left me unable to stop listening. It isn't easy to hold the reader's attention even after the development of a relationship, but this book did just that. It also isn't easy to create a touching ending for two characters whose lives are filled with tragedy, but this author did it beautifully. This novel is well worth the money if you are a lover of historical romance, and especially if you are tired of the same old romance stories. This story would have received 5 stars for story, except that the relevance of the Raven Prince pre-chapter quotes escaped me; forgive me if you saw the connection and believe it to be a contributing factor, but I didn't see the purpose.

I fell in love with them again! ❤️

Relisten - May 12 2018

I can’t even tell you how much it’s pleasurable to listen and see the characters come alive for one of your favorite books. 😌 I read this book years ago when I was still reading MF romance (I still read some MF historical romance from time to time but it’s quite rare). I vividly remember how I was blown away by the authenticity and genuineness of the protagonists at that time. Both MCs are neither astonishingly beautiful nor impeccably perfect. But those two imperfect characters tugged my heart many times when I read the story at the time. And now, let me say that Moira Quirk did one heck of a job narrating this story. 👏 Her voice was serene, clear and beautiful. The distinction of voices for different characters were just beautifully done. I totally fell in love again with Anna and Edward. And bonus points for Mr. Hoppel’a voice! It was just too funny. I listened to this audio just in two days and I listened 7 hours straight yesterday. So you can see how attractive and compelling this audio was! 😁 I’m sure I’ll relisten to this audio at least a few times. The following is the original review that I left years ago when I read the paperback! 😉

Wow .. again and .. wow!!! 😱

What a revelation!!! I read this book in one day so my face was practically glued to it. This was my very first Elizbeath Hoyt’s novel and I'm very glad that I chose this book as my first. I discovered this book under an article about the hottest, dirtiest romance novels and the title caught my attention as well as the blurb of this book. I've always been fascinated by the historical romance novels and it's a bit rare to see nicely-constructed romance novels with equal romance and smut in this era.

When I first read a few pages, I was a bit disappointed by how mundane and ordinary the characters seemed to be. But Alas! I was wrong. 😌 This book attracted me so much that I felt like even taking a shower was such a hindrance while reading it. 😂 I literally felt butterflies in my stomach when reading about every little encounter between Anna and Edward.

The story is so pure yet so dirty. It truly makes you hot and bothered but in a very fascinating and interesting way. And the way the author maneuvered the plots and twists are amazingly brilliant. 👏

Spoiler Alert - especially chapter 9 and 10 .. 😁😁😁
The smut was spectacular. Literally makes you hot and panting!

After reading this book, I have decided to read all of Hoyt’s books. She does have a gift of enticing and charming her readers while making them wanting and yearning more.
