Publisher's summary
In the resplendence of William the Conqueror's London court, the lovely Saxon captive, Nicholaa, was forced to choose a husband from the assembled Norman nobles. She chose Royce, a baron warrior whose fierce demeanor could not conceal his chivalrous and tender heart. Resourceful, rebellious and utterly naive, Nicholaa vowed to bend Royce to her will, despite the whirlwind of feelings he aroused in her. Ferocious in battle, seasoned in passion, Royce was surprised by the depth of his emotion whenever he caressed his charming bride.
In a climate of utmost treachery, where Saxons still intrigued against their Norman invaders, Royce and Nicholaa revelled in their precious new love...a fervent bond soon to be disrupted by the call of blood, kin, and country!

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

Looking for a sappy romance? This dud's for you!
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This book starts with a strong character who protects her land from harm by carrying around a sling. However, as soon as she meets her darling husband she turns into a sappy, hangy, woman who tries to earn his respect by throwing tantrums. Perhaps the difficulty is that this is an audio book. If you were reading a normal book you could skip a page here, or a paragraph there and the plot would move along fine and keep you interested. But wading through every last detail gets tedious.
Has The Prize turned you off from other books in this genre?
A bit...
Which scene was your favorite?
When on the roof protecting her castle, she slings a stone and fells the leader of the approaching army.
Do you think The Prize needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. One was bad enough.
Any additional comments?
I feel stupider (Is that a word?) for having listened to this book.

Great Read!!!!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Prize to be better than the print version?
Yes for I can listen while I'm on a bumpy bus ride, walking anywhere I'm going and of course while eating on my break.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Prize?
When Royce helps Nicolaa deal with Orich leaving. And the help he gives her brother Justin.
Have you listened to any of Anne Flosnik???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to many books by this narrator and she never disappoints. I love how she captures the personality of the characters and brings them to life.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was sorry it need so soon. And I did laugh and cry. This is only the 3rd book by Julie Garwood I have listened to, however, I love them all. She pulls you into her books and I love when and author does this and then the narrator gives you that experience while reading the book to you. This audio book has it all.
Any additional comments?
Sample the audio. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, given some of the reviews I read. The narrator was ok, better than some, even if some of her voices were weird, but that happens with pretty much any narrator.

This was a fun love story! I absolutely loved how Royce was always on to Nicolaa’s schemes. They were perfect for each other even though it took A LOT of work to get there. The baby was so adorable! I wish he would have been featured more because I love reading about big, rough men being so gentle with babies. I enjoyed this book and of course the narrator is amazing as always.
