Publisher's summary

Ryder is the hardest Montgomery brother to figure out - with a tough-as-nails outside and possibly nothing too soft underneath. He’s surly and unsociable, but when he straps on a tool belt, no woman can resist his sexy swagger. Except, apparently, Hope Beaumont, the innkeeper of his own Inn BoonsBoro....

As the former manager of a D.C. hotel, Hope is used to excitement and glamour, but that doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate the joys of small-town living. She’s where she wants to be - except for in her love life. Her only interaction with the opposite sex has been sparring with the infuriating Ryder, who always seems to get under her skin. Still, no one can deny the electricity that crackles between them…a spark that ignited with a New Year’s Eve kiss.

While the inn is running smoothly, thanks to Hope’s experience and unerring instincts, her big-city past is about to make an unwelcome - and embarrassing - appearance. Seeing Hope vulnerable stirs up Ryder’s emotions and makes him realize that while Hope may not be perfect, she just might be perfect for him…

I didn't want it to end!

Love! This trilogy is ALL about it, in ALL of its many facets. This volume really pulled on my heartstrings for several reasons. I was really pulling for Ryder to find his match & I got so much more. The underlying story of Lizzie & Billy was so sweet & carried through the trilogy, in such a romantic way. I wish the Inn BoonsBoro was a real place! I would book a room. I don't know what category to put these books I have happened upon lately, definitely romance, but with a lovely weaving of the fantastical. I find myself wanting to "check-in" on the characters. Beautiful escape from all the chaos of our world these days!

Good story

Good story but predictable. It follows the theme of the author’s trilogy books. Three brothers, three best friends….. blah blah. The narrator does a good job with the male voices but leaves something to be desired with female voices. I did like the ghost and the story line of the Civil war. Over all, worth a listen.

Positively Natural and Bright

Would you listen to The Perfect Hope again? Why?

Yes because the story has such natural character development and the underlying story line about the Lizzie the ghost is captivating and how she works her way to become part of the family leaves you wanting more.

What did you like best about this story?

I like how Nora Roberts surprises you at the ghost's connection with the family and weaves her history into the family's story today.

What about MacLeod Andrews’s performance did you like?

His voice is perfectly paced. He never has a problem giving characters different voices in fact he is the best I've listened to after more than 20 audiobook purchases. He is not slow. He is not fast.

Looking for someone to read you a story and speak the quotes in the book like they are actually sounding like conversation? Cloud is your voice. He doesn't deliver lines like he is reading. He delivers it as if he is talking exactly what other narrators should do.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried when Ryder has his moment and that's all I can say without give the book away.

Great end to the series-even the narrator better

Hope's story and how she gets together with Ryder is a wonderful wrap up to this trilogy. I enjoyed the banter and the layers that each character showed. As I noted in my review of the first book (The Next Always), the narrator still reads more slowly than I like, but he's fixed the terrible child voices and carries the strong along quickly enough that I only switched to 1 1/2 times a couple of times during the story. Although this isn't my favorite NR trilogy (Three Sisters and Born In hold that position), it was still a delightful way to spend my commute time.

Enjoyed all three books.

There needs to be a fourth book. The story hasn't ended. Lizzie and Billy can't move on until Hope and Rider are married.

A fitting culmination

Where does The Perfect Hope rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This third in the Inn Boonsboro series was very good, though not my favorite.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I didn't like the graphic descriptions of the torment and death of subjects, I went past them.

Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

All MacLeon Andrew's performances are good, I enjoy listening to him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Connecting the threads.

Any additional comments?

I thoroghly enjoyed the adventures of building and accessorizing the Inn and buildings, the interactions with the ghost, and the charm of the town. It had it's own personality, and enhanced the story.

Insightful and touches your heart

I really enjoy Anita Roberts books. I like that there are usually three stories that connect them all together. I think that this one reminds me of me. It shows that two people, no matter the type of personality can fall in love.

Loved this trilogy!

Beautiful story that made me giggle, sigh, and tear up toward the end. I enjoyed how the narrator kept the voice personalities the same throughout the series, which allowed each book to flow easily to the next.
