Publisher's Summary

Nicola Price used to have it all - a great career, the perfect boyfriend, an excessive shoe collection, and an apartment in one of San Francisco's best neighborhoods. But when she gets knocked up and her asshat boyfriend leaves her high and dry, Nicola's perfectly crafted world comes tumbling down. Now Nicola is the proud single mother of a five-year-old daughter and living a giant lie. She can barely afford their ghetto apartment, and all the men she dates run when they hear that she comes with a child. She's struggling and scared - and nowhere near where she thought she'd be at age 31. Nicola's saving grace comes in the form of tall, handsome, and wealthy Scotsman Bram McGregor, the older brother of her friend, Linden. Bram understands a thing or two about pride, so when tragic circumstances place Nicola at rock bottom, he offers them a place to live in the apartment complex he owns. But nothing in life is free, and as Nicola gets her feet back on the ground, she discovers that the enigmatic playboy may end up costing her more than she thought. She might just lose her heart.

    "Annoying heroine, dreadful narrators!"

The story is good and interesting, but the heroine is a prideful woman, whinnying all the time about her situation and how life dealt her a bad set of cards, yet when things turn around for her, she jumps to conclusions like a dim wit, and is willing to throw away everything, sacrifice her little girl's happiness and a possible good and long lasting relationship because of pride and stupidity and because something was done in the past. What a hypocrite woman!
The whole book was very disappointing and annoying. I just couldn't finish it. I wanted to throw my poor, innocent iPod out the window because of her quite a few times through the story.

It didn't help that the narrators sucked too! The female voice sounds like she's chocking on a carrot when imitating the hero's voice, and the male narrator just didn't sound genuine at all. Who speaks like that in real life situations??? I'm not usually too picky about the narrators, but these two really made the whole experience that much worse...

All in all, not a worthy credit!

"Who can resist a sext british accent?"

Bram McGregor is one sinfully hot male with an accent that is sure to melt your panties!! He's sexy, rich, built, looks good in a suit and has women falling over themselves for him! That's what everyone sees when looking on the outside.
Nicola Price is a single Mom, being burned from her boyfriend when he left her and their daughter, making it hard to trust any man! Her life gets even more complicated when she loses her job and her daughter gets very ill.
Nicola met Bram at Shannon & Linden's wedding where they shared a moment but was quickly squashed the when she has to leave and watches him move on to the next woman.
However, when Nicola is at her lowest, Bram is there offering help and Nicola has no other choice but to accept.
What happens when these two get closer and Bram is there at every turn?

Really loved this story! I could definitely relate to Nicola as being a single Mom and needing help! Bram is a hot fantasy and continues to get under her skin and when he does sparks fly!

    "A sweet love story"

oh i really really liked Bram. I want a Bram for my own!! A dirty talking, perverted, cocky (total pun intended), and fun scottish man with a sexy as sin accent. Yup, sign me up. I liked Nicola. She wasn't stupid, she thought logically (for the most part) and she had her head on her shoulders and knew her priorities. I loved watching them fall in love.

I did NOT like Nicola's reaction to Bram's secret. It was very drama queen.

I enjoyed the story but not enough to double back and listen to the first book. Maybe when I'm bored or looking for an easy love story.

    story 3.5
narrators 3 the female narrator was getting some slack for sounding too old but I enjoyed her performance. Antony Ferguson does an amazing scottish accent but his american accent is for shit. He had them sounding like they had southern accents...lol. It was pretty funny then became sad because he is so talented. Keep trying Antony!!!

    "Good story!!"

This was so much better than the first installment in the series. I loved he narrators as they provided a better experience than reading would've, especially with that Scottish brouge. I enjoyed it tremendously. I may even fine the next installment a try.

    Any additional comments?

This was a solid read if you can get it at a reduced rate. I would have been disappointed if I used a credit on it. The story was entertaining. The male narrator did fantastic on the male voices but terrible with the female voices almost to the point of distraction. Again, great in the male voices which were most of his dialogue so manageable. The female narrator's voice wasn't great but easy to get used to.

    "The Accents offered something interesting"

Somehow I missed the part about this being a series and I started with book 2, The Offer.
Overall it was a pretty good read. It started off pretty slow and I wasn't too sure I'd like it, but eventually it picked up the pace and and then it took off and never slowed back down. I loved the characters which is actually a little unusual for me. I generally hate reading books with kids in them... that sounds terrible, I know, but I like to read to take my mind off of life and loose myself in the fantasy. My fantasies do not include children. I don't have them, I don't want them, I don't want to read about them. This one wasn't bad though, overall the daughter helped the story progress and she wasn't taking over.

    "Great Book Worth a Credit"
Would you listen to The Offer again? Why?

Yes. It was a great story about real adult situations. It wasn't sappy sweet not was it gruff and rough. I loved the interaction between all of the characters in the book. But I especially liked the scenes between Bram and Nicole.

What other book might you compare The Offer to and why?

I can't think of one. That's probably another reason I liked this book so much. For me, it was original.

Have you listened to any of Antony Ferguson and Nicole Poole ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but I would now. They did a great job narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I had a hard time putting it down.

    "Irritating heroine"

Honestly I would have loved this story if nicola wasn't such a self righteous dumbbell. She gets jealous over a guy she rejects and them holds a grudge against him over and over. When she discovers her child needs special medical help she acts like a dope rejecting help from friends who care. She feels sorry for herself over and over pretty much blaming the world for her woes. Finally she admits her feelings but goes over the top with anger and judgement over things that happened years and years before she knew brahm. You would think she of all people would have believed in him and know he changed over those years. She really just made me want to reach into the story and shake some sense into her

Not my favorite story for those reasons.
