Suzanne Toren is one of my favorite narrators. She can make any book come to life, not that this book needed any help. Great story, it was sweet, spiritual and funny. I think it was my favorite book in the series. I’m very thankful good, clean, spiritual books are being written and written well. God is good!

LOVED!!

I enjoyed this book very much! I thought the narrator did an excellent job. I accidentally started with book 3 but did not feel like I started in the middle of something.

Excellent

The story began well, but often moved slowly. I also became a little confused with all of the political players in the story. I was disappointed with the performance. The narrator's voice was very smooth most of the time, but when it came to the main character's voice it had an effect of fingernails on a chalkboard. This continued until midway through the story when the narrator suddenly changes the character's voice to a smoother sounding one. Sometimes all of the male characters sounded the same in a dialogue, which made it hard to figure out exactly who was speaking. Also, if you don't like cliff-hangers, you will hate this book. Sorry for the spoiler, but I wished I had known that the book had no resolution before I listened to it. I am just one of those people who likes self-contained books, so this knowledge would have been beneficial before I purchased the book.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator did a terrible job with her character voices. Her accents were too forced. Sarafina sounded like a smurf. I really think I would like this story if it weren't for the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarafina. She was the heroine.

How could the performance have been better?

YES. Narrator didn't have good character voices and/or accents.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Possibly

Story probably better than performance

I have not read the other books. The story is okay but I feel that there should have been more character building. Maybe I have to read the other books to find out more details? I personally like this book for its strong message regarding forgiveness and hope.

The narration was really slow in the beginning with pauses longer than usual. I can actually hear the uncertainty of the narrator's voice as if she is losing her place while reading. In addition, she could have done a better job by preparing and researching how to properly pronounce certain words like Guadalupe (gwah-dah-LOO-pay) not Guadaloop! However, it did get better after more than 20 chapters or was I just getting used to it?
