Single dad and Thunder Point's deputy sheriff "Mac" McCain has worked hard to keep his town safe and his daughter happy. Now he's found his own happiness with Gina James. The longtime friends have always shared the challenges and rewards of raising their adolescent daughters. With an unexpected romance growing between them, they're feeling like teenagers themselves - suddenly they can't get enough of each other. And just when things are really taking off, their lives are suddenly thrown into chaos. When Mac's long-lost ex-wife shows up in town, drama takes on a whole new meaning. Mac and Gina know they're meant to be together, but can their newfound love withstand the pressure?

Any additional comments?
While the title and description describes a newcomer, we didn't see her till near the end. And I was never afraid that the newcomer would get the guy. Not. Even. For. A. Second. This is really the continuing story of the already established couples of Thunder Point. We see Cooper and Sarah, and Mac and Gina to great effect. The real stand out was Ashley's story. Her heartbreak and now she and her mom handled it was a real eye opener about the consequences of social media and dating. I loved the story. But the description was incorrect.Good story - but Title and Description is wrong

Would you listen to The Newcomer again? Why?
Yes definitely.Lovely book and in time I would revisit it again. What other book might you compare The Newcomer to and why?
I would compare the whole Thunder Point series to Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series. What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I can't say I prefer her to reading the book but I love listening to any books she has narrated. She is brilliant. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Usually I only listen when I am painting or crafting. With this book I wanted to keep on listening.Great Story

We get more Cooper & Sarah, and we get Mac & Gina, both of whom struggle with challenges.
Sarah gets a heads up about a very possible promotion and change of posting to the East Coast.
Then Coop gets a request to see an ex fiancée before she passes and gets a life changing revelation.
Gina is heart sore trying to help her daughter Ashley who is devastated by a breakup with her college boyfriend along with a case of bullying. Her situation motivates Gina to find her daughter’s birth father.
Mac deals with the reappearance of his ex wife and her possible impact on their children. When he deals with the ex, he convinces Gina that it’s time to get married. The ending wraps up nicely with a new coach, an elopement, a proposal & a street party.
Plummer does an excellent job of narration.
developing storyline

Also, it’s becoming apparent to me that Robyn Carr is AWFUL at writing dialogue. There’s almost no conversations—everyone seems to just speak at each other in paragraphs. Everyone’s vernacular is the same, and it’s all awkward. I’m supposed to believe that Ashley, a seventeen-year-old in the 21st century, is using the phrases “grease monkey” and “toe jelly”? I’m twice her age, but I don’t think I’ve ever said those in my life.
Despite this, I’ll still listen to the next one. I want to see what happens with Cooper and Sarah, even though I find her super boring—her personality is defined by the men in her life. Therese Plummer’s narration was excellent, as always, and she’s the reason for the overall five-star review.
There’s a lot going on here
