Publisher's summary

Shelly Laurenston turns up the heat with two sizzling novellas.

Christmas Pride: How come all the good-looking ones are insane? That's what runs through NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot's mind the minute she hooks up again with her childhood buddy, Mace Llewellyn. It isn't just the way he stares at her with those too-sexy gold eyes, as if he could devour her on the spot. Or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy-SEAL bod-o-death. It isn't even that he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle. It's more about that disconcerting, shifting-from-man-to-lion thing that unhinges her...and makes her want more. Mace likes making Dez crazy. In fact, he likes her any way he can get her...in bed, on the desk, here, now, again. Together, they'd always been trouble, but Dez has no idea just how good trouble can feel.

Shaw's Tail: Brendon Shaw, hotel owner and lion shifter, has seen better days. He's been beaten, had a gun to the back of his head, and had to be rescued by a Pack of shape-shifting wolves. He didn't think he'd survive the night, much less find the woman of his dreams. And he never thought the woman of his dreams would have a Tennessee accent and wear cowboy boots. Once he sets his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go. Ronnie Lee Reed is ready to change her life, and New York City is the place where any girl, even one who runs with a Pack, can redefine herself. First order of business: Find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion-shifting, oh-my-what-big-um-paws-you-have men. Then again...

Love this Author!

I have everything Laurenston has written (including under the name G A Aiken) on my e-reader. I've been waiting for years for the audio additions. If you like the Were genre with a dose of humor you won't go wrong. The Pack series and Pride series are a great read and a great listen. Hope that all her books come out in audio and I'll be buying them as fast as they are released.

Sexy and funny

Any additional comments?

Two stories one book... The first one was a bit too much. (graphic sex) I mean it had likable characters and I think I would have enjoyed it slightly more if I'd seen more interaction with the other characters and story other than they just knew each other in high school and now as adults were drawn to having sex every five minutes. But even with that it wasn't a bad story... But I did like that it introduced other characters such as the wolf pack and lion shifters, which reappear in the next story more prominently. The second story made me laugh. I loved the interaction of the family members. The strong willed independent heroines and patient/protective and tenacious males. The more you hear about Ronnie's past and adventures the more you like her and laugh. And when you see her mates shock and awe over those antics you can't help but like him more as well. I would love to see more stories about this family. And can't wait to read book two in hopes that it will follow more along the lines of the way book one ended. In fact I was sorry to see this story come to an end. The narrator was awesome. Sounded like one of my favorites Johanna Parker? If it wasn't her under another name then she's got a vocal twin out there. Either way narration was great!!

Disappointing.

This book is a Drama Love Story. Love and Lust although that description may seem a little more entertaining than the actual story. The Narrator did a great job, I am not sure I could have kept up with this book the way it goes from one character viewpoint to another without the awesome Narrations. I am not from Chicago so I don't know enough to comment on the accent but it was the Narrator that kept me from asking audible for my money back.

It wasn't a bad story, it was like an episode of the Days of Our Lives. I buy a book like this I want action, near death experience, excitement not Drama and Redneck Lust and sex.

I was hoping that maybe this book just built up the characters and the next book would add the adventure and action, but .... They play a couple of hours of the next book at the end of this book and it is just another episode of Drama type Love Story with another odd couple.

One thing that really bugged me about this book is the author's depiction of Werewolves, I question whether the Author has ever read anything about them. His depiction of the Werewolves is off compared to where everyone else is. For example werewolves can get drunk in his book. There are several contradictions and I just found the overwhelming amount of sexual dialog to be a little primitively written in a redneck-ish style of Lustyness.. (sorry I am making up words now... :).

It didn't suck but... Not buying the next one.

What a surprise!!

I'm now on Book 8 of this series, so I guess it's time to gush about it for a minute!

I was kind of burnt out on PNR when I decided to pick up this audiobook. So glad I did! Although the world Ms. Laurenston creates is not noticeably different than others I've read (maybe the most obvious difference is that shifters seem to be the only paranormal element to the stories?), she totally makes up for the lack with legitimately good writing and character development. And she's got a great narrator to back her up, so that should really seal the deal for anyone who likes a good shifter romance. Total bonus (according to moi)? This first book in the series is actually two shorter stories, introducing you to two couples who have some social ties, but are separated enough that you get two completely different introductions to the Pride series for the price of one. Who doesn't love a good deal?!

I admittedly didn't love the first story about Dez, a full human cop from the Bronx, and Mace, a lion shifter who's carried a torch for her since they were kids. This one didn't get me fully hooked, but I was enjoying the narration and the presentation of the world Ms. Laurenston was giving, and found myself wanting to listen at every available opportunity. Maybe I was just out of it when I listened, because that's the only time it's happened so far!

The second story I enjoyed much more. I really liked Ronnie Lee Reed and Brendan Shaw, and found their story much more enjoyable. I mean, hi, it's love at first sight for Brendan. That's always good for me. Also thought the sex was hotter, for sure. But what made me remember this story more than the other? Perhaps because they're both shifters? Maybe because I love crazy southerners? Or could it be that I'm just a sucker for a man getting into a brawl with his own family over a woman (cuz I'm messed up like that)? Ummm, all of the above!

In general, this series is totally worth the time and credits. All the books contain humor, intrigue, interesting characters and some decently hot sex scenes. (I say decently hot because they don't really get HAWT like a Kresley Cole, ok real talk, like a Robert Petkoff-narrated book, but they still get my pulse going.) I also can't over-emphasize how much I like a well-written book containing characters that don't have to do stupid and completely absurd things to propel the plot. I've thoroughly enjoyed every installment, and have already re-listened to one of the books that particularly grabbed me. If this kind of thing is your bag, you really can't go wrong.

for a great laugh

Could not help laughing throughout this book. I love it when the narrator (Charlotte Kane) is so on point with the characters. I will definitely be buying the next book available.

start of a great new series

this book is actually two stories but they're not short stories , they're full size stories full of humor, full of character, full of action and full of drama. The first one starts out with Des at the home of her high school enemy which leads to a lot of drama. She is full human and will go Bronx on your tukus if you annoy her.The second one starts out in a hospital with a lion in a fever. Both have totally hysterical moments. I cannot get the picture of the lion doing the mamba out of my head. This introduced a lot of characters who get their own stories. obviously I have read the other books before I read this one.I would recommend this book as well as the rest of the series to anybody and everybody

Love this new series, love, lust, suspense, YES!

There are two stories in this first chapter. I appreciate that the women are strong and give the "Awesome", men a run for their money. The passion, suspense, and overall love story has me excited to continue the series. I also like the stories are continuing and not starting a new with the next book. The series continues with the characters, and I love the characters!!! Get ready for fun, awesome love scenes and overall good shifter story!!!!!!!

Cute Stories

These were nice stories with some action, some hot scenes and a HEA. The narrator did an amazing job with all the accents. This is one example where the narration definitely enhanced the story. Now i so need to find out how a lion/wolf hybrid will look and behave!
